For the blinking, I suppose it depends on how it would all be cut together. The effect they use in the games is a bit different. I think they used this affect more than once and if you did use a first person view, this might be the way to go.
http://www.youtube.c...ZzCQr1c#t=1m51s
Amusingly, most times when Shepard comes to, it's shown as a fade-in to Shepard's face, which really wouldn't work here.
There is one scene with a first person perspective of Shepard waking up, though:
www.youtube.com/watch
More amusing to me is how the effect usually involves drinking too much. My only thought is I can't think of any scene with the blinking effect Mr Fob used, but there are a few with the "drunk" effect or like the one you show when waking up in ME2. I'm good with whatever Mr Fob decides because already this mod is awesome.

Ok, I am definitely getting rid of the blinking. The whole first person interpretation wasn't such a great idea in the first place I guess (since it is a third person game after all). I didn't really want to put any more breathing in since I already use the whole breathing thing at the very beginning of the first video.
Also, good points on the VO. When I first played the edited scene, I also thought they should say "commander" instead of Shepard, just didn't want to re-record at the time. This will be changed.
As for the last line, two points here:
1. As I wrote above, I was going to change the later line in MEHEM to fit with this (e.g. something like "Normandy, extraction team inbound", it needs to be short to fit into that scene).
2. Having the soldier saying something like "hold on Shepard" is nice but again, it has to be a short phrase. I don't want to start the line significantly before you see the second hand and then there is not that much time to fit a line in and I definitely want them to say that they found Shep.
Anyway, I'll see what I can fit in.
@AVPen, Chris2365 & iakus: Most people seem to interpret that EDI is on the shuttle. I find that iteresting, the shot where we can see her in MEHEM is actually her in her usual co-pilot seat on the Normandy (taken from the beginning of the geth dreadnought mission) and Joker nods in her direction to acknowledge right after she finished her sentence. Still, I guess, being EDI, she is probably in linked to the shuttle. Might be a good idea to use her for that "shuttle is inbound" line if possible but I'd have to find a fitting sound clip.
@avatar0 & Bierwichtel: From our latest emails, I think the shuttle scene will change quite drastically. But take your time Bierwichtel. I know exactly what you are talking about when you say RL got in the way. I will leave on another trip in a 2 weeks as well so the next version will definitely not be out until June, possibly July. I'd also like to integrate as much as possible (i.e., work from Julia, IHJ, Slippery's scene I just youtubed, possible new videos from you, frypan's additions and some other stuff I am working on myself). So there is time until we get everything together. Also, I wish you a fast recovery!
@McBlade223, Deager & Iakus: I think I will really just get rid of the blinking altogether and just have a dip through black transition there. I just wanted to try if I could make something like a blinking effect really (it's just 2 photoshop pictures, one for the upper, one for the lower eyelid, overlaid and moved together to open and close). I am not unhappy with the result but it just doesn't quite fit here.
@WarrentyVoider (from the last page): Thanks heaps! This is awesome. I'll probably still keep a base version of MEHEM playable without any additional stuff but we definitely can go ahead and do some real modding on DLC now. Cheers and kudos!
Oh, also, we talked about planning an "all ME3 modders" chat on the 10th of May. Last I heard, there was still the need to get a nice flyer together. I know there are a lot of great 2D artists hanging around this section of the forum so I thought I'd mention it. If someone is interested to help out with that, please fell free to pm (me or VarrantyWoider, I guess).

It also ties thematically with the lazarus scene from the start of ME2. Shepherd is coming back, and they started the game to make clear the player and character are one. Using it here has so many implications for the story, and player relationship with Shepherd.
I understand the criticicms of the blinking, but am not as bothered as others, just because I felt the emotional impact of the scene overall was exactly was this ending needs.
I also dont mind the rescuers using Shepherds name either. I presume they are from the Normandy? Maybe its just my Shepherd, but the idea they used the informal address at this time is due to their emotional reaction. We've seen plenty of instances of military discipline and the like getting a hand wave in the game, this seems like a good time for that too.
I like that it is two unnamed soldiers as well. obviously that is due to practical reasons, but it also ties in with the whole theme of the game - Shepherd is here for everyone, and that two unnamed soldiers find him is great. Would have loved to see the uninjured party members doing it, but that I imagine is pretty hard. Shame is, even if it could be the party, chances are it wouldnt be the player's favourites, who were evacuated due to those injuries and should not be out again so soon. This makes a better compromise.
Just my thoughts, I really dug the scene. (did I just say that?)

Not only that but you have actually been quoted on it.
Thanks frypen, I guess if I change it to a fade through black, It can still be interpreted either way and it's actually more in line with ME2 since that was also just a fade in.
Also, you hit the nail on the head with the squad mates. Since I am planning on implementing different low EMS endings, we could actually have used Liara and James here (the two who are certain to be alive with high EMS). However, I guarantee that this would make everyone unhappy who either has a different LI or spent the majority of the game with others. Using generic soldiers avoids this issue and it's still possible that "your" squad mates are in the shuttle/outside the frame.
About the name: Well, looks like the plan is for them to say commander first and Shepard later so we've got both.

Yeah, no complaints here. I'm pumped either way. IHJ, Julia, well, the list goes on and on of everyone making this happen. My 3rd playthrough may have the v0.4 ending but if not, there's always another run to do.

I think it's just the way the scene flows, it suggests EDI is part of the team, flying the shuttle.
Or maybe it's just a subconcious desire that "the squad" is in on the rescue

Yeah, it's not a bad effect, it's just not a "Mass Effect" style effect.

Wow I leave for a day and I miss seeing the preview till now >.< Anyway, I am drooling over it, just saying
Couple things regarding feedback:
I think you mentioned that different shuttle scene will be used? If so thats a good thing, this scene looked a little more 2D than normal
The hand is from femshep? Not really a complaint, just an observation
I think the alliance soldier helping Shep should say something assuring as well... original line if possible.
Lastly, the soldier animations, while good, are a little slow in some areas, and if they are moving one way and then move another, the change is slightly abrupt. If that could be ironed out that would be great
Overall hey I love this, and I cant wait to see it. Hope v0.4 is out before college...

The shuttle scene, me and Bierwichtel were talking about in terms of changes is the departure from the Normandy (i.e. this one). The shuttle scene in the new preview will stay this way. It does look a little bit 2D-ish but I think this the best we can get out of what we can do. Everything in his scene is a rather nifty combination of Slippery's animations and flycam footage, recorded out of a modded ME3. So there are some artefacts from the cutting to be expected. All in all, I think it turned out rather authentic though.
I am not sure of the hand is from an ME3 model or something that Slippery made himself.
VO is definitely still WIP (see posts above).
The soldier animations will probably stay this way. They are moving this way to secure the LZ and scan for Shepard.

Ok fair enough, I guess the slow thing makes perfect sense then. Still think at 0:11 the soldier jerks just a little bit, but frankly I am being very nit-picky for sake of making a perfectionist critique. Cant wait to see this in v04!
EDIT @ SlipperyHammer
Overall, this is too awesome.

Sorry for the missinterpretation.

A few weeks ago I backed up my ME3 files because I was cleaning my computer, and then I re-copied it over. It should have the extended cut on it, but for some reason, when I try to use the installer, it says that I don't have it. I'm trying to install it in the BIOgame -> DLC folder. Origin says it's installed but the MEHEM installer still isn't working.

Here is what I would do:
Right click on the cover of ME3 in origin, and click repair. Then when that is done, right click on the cover again, and go to game details. Then right click on each piece of DLC and click repair. Then run the installer again. Probably will work

Outside of Shep looking like he got run over by a truck while putting up the memorial plate this is pretty damn good
i suppose getting hit by a giant alien deathray'll do that

Well, I think that we need a FAQ guide...
After all, the problems seem to be allways the same, and repeat themselves
Is a good signal, when a FAQ is mandatory is because something is complete enought to give usual problems xD

Good idea, maybe wavion can put an FAQ into his MEHEM installer read-me?
Just watched the v0.4 preview again, muted, while playing "Suicide Mission" on iTunes. EPIC.
Really interested to see how Shotgun Julia's sountrack goes with all this.
Overall I guess you could say I am uber excited for v0.4 because of:
Harby Battle
New Music
Shep Rescue
Potential new slides
Possible Alternate endings for different EMS
The wait till July is gonna kill me

I've been working on the soundtrack daily. Even though the deadline slipped, I can't. Don't expect it to sound like anything you've heard already except for the last part will contain the ME1 "From the Wreckage". That's all I can tell you.

@creapsmantic: We'll see. If we can get all the intended updates together for v0.4, this will already resemble a "final" version but there always fun things that can be added and since our capabilities grow in time (see WV's new DLC patcher), it's really hard to tell where things will go.

At the early stage of MEHEM, MrFob needed plenty of diaglogues to smooth out a lot of the happenings on screen.
However, with all the modifed scenes and added sequences now, I think we can perhaps consider a more minimalist approach.
I am refering to Bioware's original EC Endings, where a lot of the immediate happenings on the battlefield are without dialogues.
The emotive music and the camera work did most of the work, and rendered the unheard sweeter.
Though Bioware's endings in general failed miserably, the way they handled these scenes were quite wonderful.
I took MrFob's v03 video and the v04 preview and edited two very rough videos (changes start at 4:11, the start of the Shepard Rescue/Crucible Avtivation sequenceor, for both ) to try to showcase this effect:
www.youtube.com/watch
This one includes the shuttle coming in, but no hand grab. It's set to An End Once and For All.
I hoped to streamline the Shepard rescue effort, so I removed/rearrange/manipulated some of thd sequences to better focus the story (to very limited success, I fear).
I also wanted to delay the gratification, leaving the result of the rescue effort somewhat ambiguous.
This is to give Shepard's eventual apperance at the memorial an catharsis effect.
www.youtube.com/watch
This one includes the hand grab, and is set to Suicide Mission.
I did a lot of the things similar to the first video, except this time I hope the overall effect is more upbeat.
Again, the edit is rough and amateur, and the sound effects are unfortunately removed along with the dialogues.
My point, however, is to simply show that some of the scenes can work without dialogues, if set to the right music and the sequence can be manipulated somewhat.
The hand grab, for instance, is one scene where I think the music will be pivotal, but dialogues might sound silly.
Joker's curt remark about "so we can leave before they blow the Normandy in half" can probably not be used at all, too.
In addition, some ambiguity can open up doors for future modding.
Shepard can perhaps not have been successfully saved after all, if ever a low EMS ending becomes viable.
Again, I want to express my utmost respect for MrFob and company.
What you guys have done are nothing short of amazing.
As you can tell my two videos, I am very crappy at editing and other things technical.
I merely wish to add to the discussion and perhaps introduce some ideas that can be tried out.
