Hmmm... Not bad. I prefer the second of the two, but I think I'll wait til they come out with a complete fourth version. Good job, otherwise. I think it fits well, despite the rough editing.

second version (which I prefer, due to suicide mission) tells me one thing for certain... there actually is no dialogue necessary to show the urgency and danger of the situation...

@CPTFob, maybe think about it, let the music do the talking... that way noone could complain about "shoddy" voice-acting... :D:devil:

I'm gonna make a prediction right now and say that this is probably gonna be the most downloaded mod in the whole game.

Outside of Shep looking like he got run over by a truck while putting up the memorial plate this is pretty damn good

i suppose getting hit by a giant alien deathray'll do that

I actually tried reinstalling the entire game and it's still not working.

As for the manual version, when I use the DLC explorer it doesn't let me open .pcc files. On a side note, It seems the memorial scene is somehow missing O_o

what Windows version are you using?
where are your ME3 files installed?
what's the version number of ME3? (anything special, like western mongolian version, that came free with a double latte at starbucks?)

I just finished my first play-through (with Femshep) of the entire Mass Effect game and I just wanted to say THANK YOU!! I was astonished to learn that someone had done this and I consider you heroes!!!. After reading everything what happened in the original game I feel so fortunate that I never had to go through all that and do not feel any obligation to do so. ( I was planning to just stop playing before the end til I heard about this.)

I am looking forward to your next version and APPLAUD your care that you make it acceptable to as many people as possible. ( Especially having the rescuing soldiers be unknown characters. It would really make me unhappy to have someone I tried to avoid for most of the game end up being the one that rescued Shepard. And pretty much every character is obnoxious to SOMEbody. ) Thank you for doing your best to leave no player behind!

It's really sort of hard to go back and see what existed in the original and then the Extended Cut versions of the ending.  my nephew bought the trilogy for the PS3 just the other day because he got a real deal on it.  All I can say is that the original was like falling of a cliff while eating a poop sandwich, the EC was like being pushed off a mountain into a fire pit while eating a poop sandwich and after having to listen to the biggest pile of gibberish in recent memory, and MEHEM is like a soft landing amongst friends who seem to understand the emotions the end of such a game and story called for.

So very true and well said. This mod is truly a game saver. I've only now started to play ME3 SP again - after a very long time - and this mod is what finally gave me a reason to. Without it the game ending is completely depressing and makes the whole game unplayable. It's not right that the game trilogy you deeply love and have loved through these years, leaves you feeling sad, depressed and... well... just plain bad in the end. Not right at all. So I will be forever grateful for MEHEM. <3

Thanks! @3DandBeyond: Wow, that was ... poetic (well, except for the sandwich part;))

@MaYtriX: When you say you reinstalled the whole game, does this mean you did a repair with Origin? You will need to repair the DLCs for this to work (right click on the game in origin, select "show details". Then look for the line of the Extended Cut DLC, right click on it and select "Repair". Do the same for Leviathan).
As for the manual install: The DLC Explorer is not supposed to open .pcc files. It opens .sfar files. In order to put the files for the mod in place, you need to open the sfar for the DLC you want to change (they can be found in the ME3 install directory under ".\\BioGame\\DLC\\"). E.g. in order to insert files into the EC, you need to open the Default sgar in the subfolder ".\\DLC_CON_END\\CookedPCConsole\\". Once open, you can choose any file, right click on it and choose "replace" to replace with the modded file. You'll need to do that for all the files in the mod archive for it to work. I hope I didn't forget to add the instructions yxy file to the MEHEMv0.3 archive. This should all be explained in there as well.

@avatar0: I really like your second edit. There is one major problem there though: The second rescue video in MEHEM (the one that starts when the oculi fire) needs cannot vary in length (as in: it has to stay the same to the frame). One could possibly somehow shift the whole thing around to make the pause later and make part of it belong to the first video (we have more flexibility there) but it would at this point really be a major change. Not to mention that it would completely mess up sH0tgUn jUliA's scoring efforts. So while this is a great idea and a good edit, there is a reason for me to keep the new scenes together and placed as they are. I'll keep your recommendations on the VO in mind though. Ultimately, it's tough to make any predictions before I get to the final editing, together with Julia's music.

Nevermind, I got it working. Turns out ALL the DLCs had to be downloaded for the installer to register EC.

On a side note, thank you so damn much. I can't express how grateful I am for this mod. It's the only thing that gives me closure to a wonderful series, and I feel I can go around wearing my N7 bag again. It takes so much leadership to go out and get resources and people for this, so I have only two words to say.

Thank you.

MEHEM is kinda like the Crucible.  Each iteration it is refined and added to by others.

Until it becomes the superweapon to save us all from the endings

Watching the v0.4 preview again along with avatar0's edits. Is it possible to speed up how quickly the shuttle flies in? It lacks the "Flying through a massive space battle to land on a giant, about to explode, weapon" sense of urgency.

Or maybe the shuttle pilot is just that cool under pressure?

@MrFob: Will the new music also replace the memorial scene music? As of now it has the "shepard is dead"-version which feels kind of odd since the high-EMS-destroy version is not as sad.

@MaYtriX: Glad to hear it.

@wwinters99: IMO, that scene is already pretty short and fast-cut. Speeding it up further would look rather weird, I think. Also, remember that the shuttle is approaching this room right at the pbse of the citadel tower. Lot's of obstacles to consider there. They are also already decelerating as they approach the landing site. As for enely fire, I think that close to the tower they are probably tough to pick out and target.

@N172: Yep, it's the original synthesis music. I think it fits rather well. Also, the timing of the destruction memorial wouldn't fit. It's shorter since there is no embrace in there. The solemn tone also emphasizes that, even though Shep got out, there are many losses to morn.

@MageTarot: Haha, better than Shepard at least: "STEEEEEEVE!!!!". Has anyone seen Mark Meer talk about this piece of VO in one of his interviews? (He mentions it in almost every one.)
I wonder if his other recordings are still in the game files. Maybe one could even make a mod to fix that line and make it dependent on Shep's relationship with Cortez again, as it was intended.

I finally felt the need to say something after, I kid you not, reading all 180 pages of this post over the past few months. I remember stumbling by this odd post titled 'MEHEM' back in Nov 2012, not knowing how much a click of a button would deeply impact me from then on. I even posted a reply asking " how far this mod is willing to go?" and in response MrFob said "Seriously though, I don't know.". Since the inception of this mod I have been able to watch it grow to the marvel it has become as of today; the addition of new slides, polished editing, and now, potentially breath taking new scenes and a dedicated musical composition. It just blows my mind what a community of truly devoted fans are capable of.

I just want to iterate to those who are actively and directly contributing to this mod; whatever hardships or obstacles you stumble upon, don't be disheartened by it as what you've achieved so far is beyond any meager recognition and you have reignited (pun intended) this franchise for thousands of fans who were left with an endless void within. That alone is a feat that mustn't be overlooked!
I have no technical prowess when it comes to modding games specifically, but from what I've seen, most of the reception has been from the top-half of the world. So the best I can do for now is direct unsatisfied fans to this mod from Melbourne, Australia.

Now... I must get back to my homework...

I slowed down certain scenes and sped up others to make it fit into the a 4:45 timeframe.
Of course, I don't know the actual length needed for that part, so I just tried to match it to the music.
Like you said, it will very much down to how well it works with Julia's music, but I did the demo simply to show that some careful manipulation and editing of scenes might achieve more then simply adding dialogues.
If my edit achieves a modicum of success in this regard, then I am a very happy man.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with dialogue, but I do worry that dialogues might ultimately raise more questions then they can possibly answer.
From discussing the dialogues options in the citadel rescue, I realize someone is bound to ask questions such as "Why didn't anyone mention Anderson?" "Are they only here to rescue Shepard?" or "Is [insert to-be-dialoge] really what you say to a bleeding-out Shepard?"
I also thought Joker's comment about "so we can leave before they blow the Normandy in half" to be a little harsh under the circumstances, since he was the one who disobeyed and orders and sent the marines to rescue his CO. Telling them to "c'mon" and "double time it" is understandable, but that particular line I thought somewhat made him to be a bigger a-hole than he is.
Of course, these are nitpicky issues, but as the project comes ever so close to perfection (what you guys have done is truly amazing), I think people will also become a bit antsy in hoping to see the MEHEM that ME deserves come to fruition.
That's why I thought if we can let the iamges and the music do the talking, a lot of the narrative issues might be resolved, as now the fan are left to their own devices to "understand" what was said and what was probably said in certain scenes. The creators of MEHEM will then only need to set the "mood" of the scenes, and leave the rest to the imagination of the players.

Alright, a few things I thought was intereting as I was edited the second part (and you probably already knew these a long time ago, MrFob):

1. Normandy's cruising by the Crucible and Joker's subsequent control panel shot are two scenes that can be slowed down to create a more dramatic feel.

2. I also slowed down both the Shuttle coming the Citadel and the Shuttle flying back to Normandy, wanting to prolong the journey a bit.

3. On the other hand, both the Reaper's attack on the Turian Vessel and Normandy's escape from the white light can be safely sped up without looking weird.

4. The soldiers coming out of the shuttle can also be sped up (only this part), and somewhat I think their movements look more natural this way.

5. As you can probably tell, I slowed down most of Shepard's bloody hand and divided it into severl shots, only speeding up again at the end when the soldier's arm comes down. I think this makes the rescuing hand look more formidable.

6. And of course, I removed the close-up of the oculi and their zapping the bottom of Normandy to make room for all the other things. I personally found these parts to be a bit distracting, but that's just me.

7. Switching the order of the dog fights and the Turian ship blowing up also make for an interesting narrative change.

8. Most of Joker's control panel scenes are modified, and I even moved one from the end to the shuttle return scene, to eliminate any need for Joker to have dialogue. Again, for demonstrative purposes.

9. Really, a lot of things can be done with the last bit, where Normandy escapes the white light. There are several elements here that can be removed, sped up, slowed down, etc, without really impacing the story. If ever scenes need to be edited for time's sake, I think this part is great for the operation table.

10. Blurring the bloodied hand as it first appears is pretty cool. I think the problem with the eyelid is that somewhat Shepard's body and his arm look disjointed when viewed this way. But I think most people will probably be ok with a blurry opening shot or something to this effect.

Again, you guys are truly amazing. Doing some simple editing work has left me exhausted, and this has put me in perspective to the tremendous work the MEHEM team has put into the mod.
I feel absolutely terrible for trying to increase your workload by giving unsolicited suggestions, and I do apologize.
In any case, MrFob and company have made ME3 playable and, moreoever, enjoyable again.
I didn't think it was possible, but you guys really made a differnece. Thank you.

What? What part? Of the crucible? Is it the part in the back that looks like a bottle opener?

Cause that would make perfect sense to me. You see, I think that beer bottles are the perfect analogy for the reapers. First of all, they are very cold, just like the reapers. Also their interior is (which is beer) is basically made of some organic brown slush, which in turn is made out of countless harvested life forms. In that sense, the catalyst was
actually right, these lifeforms ascended to a more worthy state of existence.I think the beer is indeed some kind of yeast reaper. Vanguard of our destructio? The cycle has been repeated more times than you can fathom?
It all fits. Also, you can probably handle one single beer but once they come in numbers, they'll knock you out cold.
Now the geth on the other hand are more akin to wine. Many individuals come together to form a unique entity like the grapes on a vine. They need to age a bit to actually become good (300 years in their case) and they come in a red and a white variety. So yea, if that part looked like a cork screw, I'd be worried for the geht but as it is, I think they are going to be fine.
Sorry, I got no idea what compelled me to write this (but I am sure at least Greg Zeschuk would appreciate the similarities :)).

@arlec13: Cheers mate! Always good to see more Aussies around.

@avatar0: Thnaks for the suggestions. As I said, I am going to leave things up to Julia at this point. Once I know what the score sounds like, we'll see how much freedom we have left with the scenes but from what I heard
so far, my guess is that the score is already planned out very thoroughly with respect to the timing of the scenes themselves. We'll see.
By the way, many of the scenes are already slowed down or sped up from their respective originals. Especially the "bloody hand scene' is already running at 75 to 50% speed in the v0.4 preview.
And don't ever feel bad about making suggestions. The more, the better. Although of course, I can't promise what we'll be able to implement in the end (I am always trying to give a fair assessment and some reasoning though).

About Shepard's rescue scene. Every character have a line "We got Shepard" in Leviathan DLC, so it can be used. Random soldiers (and friend / LI off-screen) rescue Shepard and LI / friend tells Joker "We got Shepard".
