Oh, I'm sooooo looking forward to v0.4 :-)

This earth shot looks great. Needs some refining, but as it is only the first teaser, it looks great. Thank you all, especially MrFob, IHJ and Wavion, and all the other contributors for putting so much effort making the end more logical and more satisfactory.

Hi all. I'm just making a plug for a mod I just finished. Seems like the MEHEM crowd might enjoy it. Basically, it makes the Citadel DLC play more like an epilogue. Minor spoiler alert, but might be part of MEHEM v0.4.

Hey MEHEM team, I do't know how far you've gotten. But I just finished plying ME2 for the 5th or 6th time or so. And I think, in the Arrival DLC, you might find some useful radio chatter and maybe even some useful Harbringer chatter.

Julia, I still think your music is awful/untalented and I still think you don't got that right talent, said as respectfully as I possibly can. And I still think you should consider leaving the music part to someone with the natural talent for it. Music and especially "classical" music is an art, you either got it or you don't. A friend of mine was willing to help out but it was a bit complicated with the ME3 explorer and all that and none of us has the time outside of work and family to sit down properly to learn ME3 explorer. But I really really hope one of two things for v.0.4. That you ether shape up properly or hand it over/take help from talented people who don't blow sunshine up your as just to be polite.
Again, said as respectfully as I possibly can.. Not trying to pick a fight or tell you that you "suck".
I just heard sooo much classical music in my years that I know when something is properly made by someone with the natural talent for it. And MEHEM mod is such a masterpiece mod that I think it's such a shame to put music in there that doesn't fit with the scene-changes and mood of the scenes, or Mass Effect atmoshere in general. Just needed to get that off my chest once and for all. I don't expect anything to change but I really needed that to be said. MEHEM mod deserves a lot better music in my opinion.
Again, not picking a fight here so don't take it like some kind of personal attack or such. You got the ambition, I'll give you that. Just not the natural "feel" for at least classical musc.

Let me Defend Julia for a moment.  A defence coming from the side of someone who does not like the composition as it only pertains to MEHEM.

If your comment was directed at me, and you kept saying those comments but with the qualifier of "respectfully" or "not telling you that you suck," or "nothing personal" I, sure as hell, am going to take it like a personal attack.  You are entitled to your opinion and free to express it, as I am entitled to my opinion and free to express it.

My opinion on your comment is that, despite just "wanting to get it off your chest," is that it was a personal attack and uncalled for.  You have criticism about the piece? Be detailed about it and offer points.  You said you listened to classical music for years, but did you go to school and study musical composition or theory?  If you did, then your insight into the overal composition to this piece would probably be welcomed, good or bad.  But your comment just reeks of disrespect.

I have made a number of posts on this thread, telling these MEHEM makers how much I appreciate the efforts put into this project.  The passion of this mod and effort (and progress) is astounding and absolutely needs to be commended.

And I do not even like or need nor will I try MEHEM.

To Julia:  Do your music.  Keep making it.  Grow with it.

Right, I have a question. What program would you recommend for doing animations of the characters, 3dsmax or UDK editor. I have them both at the moment and I'd say from my limited knowledge of them both that UDK would be the better one but I've already wasted well over 10 hours making something I'm not even going to be able to use so this time I'm going to try and get more help to try and prevent a repeat of that.

Thanks guys and I know I'm probably just being a pain in the butt at the moment but I hope to repay eventually with some worthwhile work.

Ok guys, I said I'd update frequently, so I put up another test. Nothing special and no finished videos or anything like that, just to show what the general progress is at the moment.
I think I have all the visual effects and assets I need to start, so I made a test level to put all this stuff in, just to see if it would compile. It did!!! :D

I made a very quick and dirty camera sweep of the scenery with MS Encoder screen grab. Nothing like the actual Matinee movies I want to make, just to give an impression where we stand. Note that the sun lens flare effect is still way over the top and there is a ton of other things that need doing. Plus the number of background "floating stuff" like ships, debris and explosions will increase quite a bit. I do have to gradually increase it until I max out my RAM. ;)

EDIT: Just noticed there is a glitch in the vid around 0:15. That must be from the recording, it's not from the lens flare.

All that's left to do now is to make some particle effects for close up weapons fire and then make some cool scenes.
Will keep you up to date.

@Yoshimurha: What was the point of that? You said exactly the same thing already a couple of weeks back, so why bring it up again completely out of context? We get it, you don't like the new music but there are those who do and no one will force you to listen to it. And I may add that your declarations of "respect" ring very hollow, given the what you actually say. Brings an Ashley Williams quote to mind: "Why is it when someone says 'With all due respect', they really mean 'Kiss my a**'?"
Otherwise, I completely agree with MrDbow, good post.

@TheTallSpartan: I am not sure. as I said, I never really worked with animations in ME3 and I also haven't really started to look into that with UDK either. I can only tell you that you can export 3DsMax animations into psa files with Epic's im- and exporters, so you should be able to use those in UDK as well. What exactly do you want to do, if I may ask? I am only interested because it may be difficult to implement any animations into ME3. AFAIK it hasn't really been done before. I'd suggest making a thread about it in the ME3Explorer forums and see if anyone there has experience with this kind of thing.

This is indeed shaping up to be sublime stuff right there, Fob. Splendid work.

Only very minor issue I could see is a tad too frantic camera movement. Get that smooth, and final version isn't far removed from BW's cinematics

No worries there. This is just me looking around with my mouse. For any videos, camera movement will be controlled by matinee, the udk's cinematic editor. Glad you like it. 'Cause as I said. It's a quick test only.

Don't make it too smooth. The ME3 fleet scenes use that shaky camera/documentary style that the new BSG used.

You said this. Weeks ago. We get it. You don't like it. Fine. But seriously if you are trying to be respectful I can think of better ways to state your opinion because that was really not respectful at all.
A lot of people DO like Julia's music. In a genuine fashion. And from what I know from Julia, she probably the most qualified person on the whole BSN to be doing this type of work.
Lastly, Fob has already stated that for those who want to keep suicide mission (because everyone agrees that track was pretty good, some may want to keep it) he will make it easy to do so. Who knows, maybe wavion will go so far as to add an option to his installer.
Bottom line is; nobody is forcing you to listen to the music in Mehem, you already said your opinion. Duly noted
@MrFob
The Corsair's mind is blown. Excellent work!
Getting back to civilization today so sound work shall commence again. Although, I would like to know... Since you MrFob are working with IHJ on his vids, will there be additional scenes, or changed timing? Be good for me to know in advance if at all possible

By timing I mean *any change that will affect how I do my sounds, such as ships firing guns, different angles, etc*

This was already planned (soundtrack options in the installer). Hearing Yoshimurha's thinly veiled diatribe makes me tempted to make Julia's music mandatory, but I won't punish the others who have been respectful and simply love the original Suicide Mission track.  Unless MrFob decides otherwise, both tracks will be available via the installer (Julia's will be the default experience).

@Yoshimuhra For someone who's trying to be respectful, you really suck at it.

With all due respect.

As Wavion said, you'll be able to keep the Suicide Mission track if you really want to, but there are others (including me) who really liked Julia's piece and think it will enhance the exprience.

Okay, done with that, this thread is a place of peace and respite form the other boards

@Mr Fob That looks really impressive. More and more it seems MEHEM is going to look as professional as anything that can be found in ME3.

@MrFob - I intend to make a few different scenes for the various LI's for the epilogue and trying to make it a bit special for example maybe unmasking Tali for a scene. This I could also use the help of a decent artist for as my texturing work is... Primitive to say the least.

But thanks for the advice and I will do, seems like a good place to start.

@2112.rush: Yep, the plan is to emulate BW's cutscene style as closely as possible. The video above is more an equivalent to a guy, taking a sweep of an unfinished movie set with a hand camera. :)

@cfs3corsair: PMing you

@BDelacroix: Yep, used a second sphere with inverted normals and an inverse Fresnel for that. I am also using a whole heap of post processing by now, e.g. for that chromatic aberration effect, etc. I think it helps with a more cinematic feel and to blur thing out a little at the edges of the screen.

@TheTallSpartan: Ah ok, in that case, there is no problem. I assume you want to build the entire scene in UDK/3Ds and then import to ME3 as a video? That will work just fine.

MrFob, I asked this question a few months ago but I was just wondering if anyone has found a way to do it yet: can this mod be installed on Xbox 360? Or do you know of a way that it can be done? I'll risk permenantly damaging my console, if that's what it will take.
