I'm a noob at modding. I have a basic understanding of what I'm doing. I think I'll be able to do it, I'm almost positive,
but don't get your hopes up too high.

Anyway, I'll let you know if it works. I hope it does. It will be tomorrow,  though. It's 02:40 in the morning where I am, so it's past time I got some sleep.

I tried it with an offline profile on my other xbox (I have another profile and console for modding, I don't use my online profile as it would violate the terms of service), and copied a dlc file from my online profile on my online xbox, but when I explored my modding usb using modio, I couldn't find the dlc file. I think it's because the file is associated with my online profile, which isn't present on my modding usb as I don't want to risk getting banned. Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

Hey Synthetic Moose, thanks heaps for trying. Sorry to hear it didn't seem to work. Unfortunately I am no help at all here because I don't have an xbox, but I can very well imagine that this is not possible without endangering your profile (and seriously, I wouldn't recommend that to anyone).

By the way, one more documentation vid without audio , could be entitled "Hard on my flank, I'm going in." :)
I know I am spamming these at the moment and I will stop it after this one and try to make something a bit closer to a final version before I upload but this is also a bit of a documentation for my own reference. I didn't look at lighting yet at all and all is still pretty static and sometimes looks really weird because the details are missing. But this should give a bit of an impression what find of clips I want to make in terms of camera movement etc. I was debating whether or not to upload so much WIP but then I thought, feedback is always useful.
Also: Youtube is really screwing up my videos lately. Seems it creates artifacts when the sun is visible. Weird.

While I haven't downloaded this, I applaud the work you and others have put into this mod and the unbridled success it has achieved,

Have you ever considered a position as a writer? Perhaps at Bioware? Maybe, oh, I don't know... As a member of their writing staff? Or even in an advisory role?

Mac: "And then, Shepard adds his energy to the Crucible and-"

MrFob: *Slaps Mac* "How about no?"

Wow, it looks really good. Professional too. I can see some of the issues but it still looks good.

I'm going to try again with what I tried earlier sometime this week. I think I'll be able to do it this time. I'll copy my online profile onto my offline xbox, so that the dlc files are associated with the correct profile. I think that that should do it. I'll inform you if there's any success.

Also, you probably get this a lot, but your mod is brilliant. Thankyou.

I would love the job of bringing logic and reason to their work...their science advisor.

Mac:"And then Shepard adds his energy to the Crucible and..."

Me: "What the f%$* does 'add his energy to the crucible' mean?  WHAT energy? Body heat?  How about just splashing gas or alcohol on it and flicking a match ? LOTS more heat.  Sheesh."

Might have been easier to just bring good ol' Drew back.

His original plan for the Mass Effect ending revolved around a Dark Energy plot (see above link). Wasn't fleshed out yet, but the basic idea was that Dark Energy was inherently tied to organics (via biotics?), and that they were either a) killing us to prevent us from using dark energy to destroy the galaxy (reverse Big Bang), or B) harvesting us to acquire the ability to use dark energy (also to save the galaxy).

Kind of crazy, but better than what we got.

Wow......just wow. Speechless over here. Haven't visited the forums in a few weeks because of work and come back to see that this mod just evolved into ending perfection. That engine tool looks like it will create a huge range of possibilities for cutscenes, effectively changing the whole look of the mod. Mr. Fob, please, as a huge fan, keep doing what your doing.  That also goes for everyone else involved. Without everyone here, my game would still be collecting dust on the shelf.  Love the previews for your project IHJ, seriously can't wait for what you and cf3corsair will collectively produce. That's going to be epic.

That made me seriously laugh. Just picturing that is hilarious. My take on the job would be a bit more different:

Mac:"And then Shepard adds his energy to the Crucible and..." (precedes to tell the rest of the ending).

Haha, well, thanks for the compliment KieranW but honestly, MEHEM has nothing to do with good writing, I think. Granted, there wasn't a lot of wiggle room but still, in terms of plot, it doesn't get any simpler than that: Hero presses button -> friends get him out -> button press kills all the bad guys -> everyone lives happily ever after. It's not exactly literature material but then, the ME trilogy, while having a very intricate background to everything, always had very simple plots.
The thing is, we should never have gotten into a position where this kind of ending was even necessary. I agree with wavion, Drew had an interesting idea there (If you read the first sentence of the OP of this thread, you know I like it :)). Many people say it was bad but that's just because it wasn't at all thought through yet.
To be completely honest, I think the original endings did have a very interesting premise. It's just that they did not fit into this story IMO and that the execution was terrible but they can definitely work (see Deus Ex).

@creapsmantic: If anyone makes them. I just found out that I suck at modelling and texturing so don't look at me. If anyone were willing to help in that regard though, I'd put new reapers pretty far down on the priority list. First order of business would be to improve the assets we can't really live without, like known ship types and textures, etc. But it's all theoretical atm anyway. I am just really glad that Ottamis took the time and made that cruiser texture. Without that, we wouldn't have any allied ship type we can use in close ups (*insert another big thank you shout out to Ottamis here*).
As far as I get it though, retexturing takes a lot of time and effort, so if some rogue BW cinematic designer wants to secretly send me some, my inbox is always open and I won't tell a soul. :D

@ruggly: Don't worry, just takes a while to get the hang of things. Funny enough, I find correctly importing stuff also the biggest hurdle (I just hate 3DsMax). :)

I still have to upload you the last file. Only 200 mb remain.

If possible, I'll upload it for you this evening and I'll send you the links.

@MrFob
Yup, we can definetly use a rogue cinematic designer help XD

@ Mr. Fob. 3DS max is just way too complex to learn within the 30 day trial as well. But from what I have gathered from several tutorials, do you have to do the animations within 3DS and then import them into UDK?

@IHJ Thank you so much. I did manage to find some models online, but a lot the Shepard models are all headless. Like the Headless Horseman decided to take a trot though the MEU.

You can export his default head easily enough w/Me3explorer.  Pop out the face andhead textures too.

@CommandBenX: PMed you

@ruggly: Yep, that is my understanding as well. I made an animation for the reaper to open/close it's claws in 3DsMax and that simple thing took me about 3 hours (I had to reload several times because the keyframing is really unintuitive IMO). You can possibly just export a lot of animations from ME3 into psa files though with the ME3Explorer. I have never tried it but I think it works (maybe Getorex knows). That should make things a lot easier.

I did export a psa from ME3 once some time ago using Umodel.  ME3Explorer will not export animations (PSA) files as far as I know.  When I was first working on the Ashley tshirt hospital mod I downloaded the animation of her laying on the hospital bed dozing.  I had her edited mesh open in 3ds, imported the psa and, boom, she was reclining and breathing as in the scene.  Beyond that one experiment and test of my modding I know VERY little about the animation side of the process.

There is an animation import/export function( see here) but it seems to be untested.
Well, the good news is , if you are worried about only having the trial version of 3DsMax, you can use Blender just as well, apparently. It's open access so no worries about licenses there.

MrFob: your mileage may vary with Blender. It will often totally screw up weighting so that even though a skeletal mesh looks perfect in UDK it is totally screwed in ME3. I sometimes use Blender to do mesh edits because it is WAY faster and WAY easier but I always pass my psk exports through 3ds to rebone and re-weight the mesh because of the issues I've had. I sometimes also get an inexplicable and unremovable (thus far) texture burned into the mesh that even 3ds cannot remove. It isn't visible until you import into UDK and there's no fixing it.

I do have Blender, but it is just as temperamental as 3DS so far for me.
