Also, while this is a very interesting and relevant issue, we are getting a bit off topic and should probably move this discussion to another thread, maybe on the ME3Explorer forums for the more technical stuff.

I hadn't considered that everyone's animation work was "outside" the game proper.

I can definitely visualize some vids in MEHEM being run with the movie's music in accompanyment.

Just a thought...I just finished watching movie "Oblivion". Wasn't sure how I'd feel about it until well into it. Good movie. So what's the point? The soundtrack. I have to say I could easily see the main theme and main song being used in MEHEM. Absolutely fantastic music. It doen't hurt that it plays to a few themes with some parallels to those in ME. The lead enemy would also have been an absolutely perfect replacement for the Star Child. That was also a TRUE bittersweet ending.

Quite like Mass Effect's style, agree with you there. I see just one problem though
The soundtracks currently used are the property of Bioware. Since we are making a bioware mod for one of their products, there is no issue using it
Julia has given us permission to use her soundtracks, so no issue there
Thing is with Oblivion soundtracks, we would end up having to get permission to use them legally right?

Not sure. Fair use and proper attribution goes a long way, just don't know if it goes all the way, especially since this is not a product, it is art by players for players. Nothing is sold.

You may see it that "it is art by players for players", but they do not. They see it as a sale for their soundtrack lost per download of the module. Sorry. That's the way it goes in the business.
Fair use: the only way you could have fair use is for educational purposes. This is not for educational purposes. A 30 second clip doesn't work. A free clip doesn't work.
Someone performing the work, as in doing a cover of it, for free, however, so long as it isn't sold is another story.
But where would this go? Credits? I like Malukah's song. It doesn't fit in the battle scenes, it's too mysterious. Nor does it fit in the victory scenes. It would fit elsewhere in the game. It's good music. I've done some ambient music myself. I just need to have the proper muse going to do something like this. But where does it go?

If anyone wants to incorporate other music there is always the music replacement tutorial that explains how to do that.
It's a nice track though, Getorex. Wish I had seen that movie after all.
(By the way, speaking of movies, I had a chance to watch Paragon Lost last night. I knew I shouldn't have but I did and to anyone who hasn't seen it yet, don't! You are better of without it.

At this point, we already have two soundtracks which I want to incorporate (Julia's as the default and the old (Suicide Mission, etc.) for those who want the unaltered experience. I think that is enough, especially given that for each new track, we have to re-incorporate the entire DLC_CON_END_SFX.afc, which means each track increases the mods size by almost 80 MB.

Thanks for the info. I may take a look at the tutorial later as there are a few soundtracks I would perhaps like to play with. As for Oblivion...I was impressed. Loved it and the soundtrack.

Ok, ok, I have to record the voices for the third part yet, I admit it!
xD
Sound unnimpressive, but that means we enter on Upgrade Phase.
My first intention is to upgrade remaining animations of the third part (That means, some explosions, a couple of effects, one little animation that does not fit, integrate some effects Mr.Fob gave to me, some projectiles), and then I'll look back in order to upgrade previous clips (1st and 2nd). The lighting and the Earth problem are now "solved" (No, I haven't dissmissed that claim), and only the final effort remains.
At this point, I want to thanks everyone that is helping to make this possible. There is some work ahead, but the video is now complete and functional, and is only a matter of time upgrade and complete it.
My new computer is just going to be delayed (Holidays) but as the new Earth does not consume a bunch of resources, I can accelerate.
THANKS EVERYONE!!!

I really can't wait for the finished version!! Sounds like you guys are doing lots of cool stuff, and I'm the final product will be nothing short of what the ending should have been. Wish I could have helped with this, but I have no skills of use to you guys xD
Thanks for the support. I am only a sound FX editor, but seeing support is awesome
2 years ago, I doubt Fob, IHJ, I, Getorex, etc, or any such would have assumed they themselves had the skills. I know I am making my bit up as I go. But things happen. If somebody asks for help with something on this thread, and you think you can help, volunteer! Help is appreciated

first time that i do such a thing to modify the end of a game, but i was so upset by ME3 endings, and above all by the breath scene... really far from the great endings i was used to since the black isle/bioware games
i must say you did a great job and you give us a better destructionending, an end shepard deserved in this way, more effective than the citadel dlc (very good but not an end)
my only regret is that there's no more choice, but i was warned before, and it's such a real pleasure to get rid off this damned starchild who was the worst ending boss i've ever seen and a real shame from bioware who has forgotten ME is a rpg and not a bad philosophical book, and they were better in rpg than philosophy
so a big thanks for Mr Fob and all the team, i will wait more impatiently MEHEM 0.4 than ME4

Well, to be honest, you are right. As I've told a couple times, I had the feeling of "I must do something, it cannot end like this!" all the time. As I've studied animation during my career I'm not professional. I had no idea of where to start. So I decided to do something.
I did not have the skills. But thanks to the people, to the support, to the tutorials, we can accomplish everything. MEHEM has the quality of inspire the people.
About you... "just" sound editor? Hey, you are very good at it! And think that a video without sound, is just a demo. So, we couldn't do it without your help
I can say the same with BDelacroix models or Deager's suggestions and support.
Same goes to everyone that helps one way or another. Probably you'll had seen the trailer... and the Earth shown on it.
This is a little candy, the illumination and earth screenshot with MrFob's resources:

I couldn't even imagine that this level of texture could be possible. MrFob is just genius!
We should make a fan club around him. I'm serious :innocent:

It's an amazing thing. Thanks again and always for what you all have done. I can't wait for more if that's still to come.
I sometimes think what could be done if everyone that wanted this kind of thing decided to pool together and create a new IP.

One can only hope that BioWare has recognized their mistakes. Since it's obvious that EA has no interest to provide modding tools for any of their games anymore, it will continue to prove difficult for the community to improve their games in the future. So whatever way they decide to go for their future games, hopefully they'll have at least proper writing throughout the entire game.

Highely unlikely that modding tools will be provided for ME4. Its based upon the frostbite engine, the reason for there not being any SDK is not purely because EA don't want to but because a lot of the tools and softwares used in game creation in that engine have licenses attached that they just can't give out to anyone that wishes to mod the game in a legal manner.bjdbwea wrote...
It's great that this mod is still being in further development. As far as I'm concerned, the mod has already provided what I didn't think was possible anymore, which is a coherent and at least partially happy ending to this fantastic series. So even if the mod would remain as it is, it would have fulfilled its purpose and still be a great gift by the creator to the community. That said, the rest of Mass Effect 3 remains one of the best games in current years in my opinion, and with the mod I could still play it again. I, like certainly many others, am therefore looking forward to any further updates.

Them not providing it for ME3 being a unreal engine game is just pure greed though.

Hey, I'm just glad I could use my copy of 3ds max for something cool.
That's amazing. I really wish I had 3DS max. I do CAD for my woodworking projects and a long time ago I used to play around with 3D modeling and animation, but can't afford that software.
