Agreed. Throw in some Abrams-esque camera shake/pan and have the shot go in and out of focus (like many of the other fly-by cutscenes in ME3) and you should be solid.


Zoom in towards the shuttle and the shuttle bay for one sec (2m02s ), add camera shake (with an explosion to justify it), cut to 0.19

Voilà :3

Thought I might add my 0.02creds on that shuttle scene: I think the tempo needs to be faster to keep up with the beat from the rest of the cutscenes (which are very fast and dynamic IMHO) and could definitely use more fireworks there ^^v

Definitely doable but it would be another mod on it's own and as ruggly said, it would be tough to make it sensible and explain this properly to the player.

@everyone: thanks for the feedback on the video.
- I still have to look into that thing with the camera focus. I haven't tried yet to change the depth of field post processing through matinee, that would definitely be cool.
- Nice reference material there Vic7im, that sounds like a good idea although I can;t say for sure if a zoom into the shuttle bay will work out, given how it's actually set up (see last page). I'll give it a try though.
- No worries about fireworks d1ta , there will be more in the final version. At this point, it's more about getting the main actors and the camera into position so that I know where I need to pot some extras and background stuff.

This is kind of a silly question, but I'm wondering if there is any way of changing swapping out music files in the game... like for example the music loop file that plays in the captain's quarters or, during the party or on the stereo system during the Citadel DLC.

I wanted to post a reply simply because I really appreciate what you all are doing.

I have played all of the original endings besides control and needless to say, was extremely disappointed. Sad that my romance with Liara apparently wasn't to be lifetime, sad to see no blue children, and many other things. Just because they were all depressing and sad though wasn't the main reason. They were all illogical, stupid and inconclusive. This helps. It's not perfect, the audio and lip syncing (also the animations in the memorial where Shep, if your male, still walks like a female. Don't think you can even change that though), either way. With all the criticism this mod could get it's still merely knitpicks. On the whole this mod brings some sort of close at last to Shepards story. As I said not perfect, there is no way a mod could be, we needed a citadel like epilogue DLC to make the ending actually be on par with the rest of the series, however I doubt we'll get that.

Anyway probably worded that poorly but I just wanted to give you a thank you for making this. The moment when my Shepard hugged Liara I smiled for I think the first time on any of the endings. That means a lot to someone like me who is invested in the series.

Thank you to all the people who had a hand in this mod. I hope to see it become even greater in the future updates that I'm sure are to come.

@sH0tgUn jUliA: This thread here has all the information I know of about music import. In some cases you need to adjust soundbanks, in others it seems to be fine to just update the .afc files. AFAIK, no one ever successfully change the alarm clock track (apparently KidzComeOut tried and didn't succeed for some reason) but it should not be too difficult. If you run into trouble, feel free to pm me.
Also, still have ot send you that cut track, I'll get on it tonight.

@vgamedude: Thaks. Just BTW, the animations for Shepard during the memorial are actually changed so that usually male Shep should use male animations (it's definitely the case if Liara is your LI). However, he even walks a bit funny with the male animations, must be the uniform model. Nothing I can do about that.

What kind of stuff is in store for the next version of MEHEM? I heard there would be new cutscenes.

Will the next MEHEM version be the last? If no, is there a conceived final variant? Or is the plan to just keep adding content until you die of old age?

That's amazing.  I really wish I had 3DS max.  I do CAD for my woodworking projects and a long time ago I used to play around with 3D modeling and animation, but can't afford that software.

Funny story about that.  I kind of accidently bought it.  I was looking at pricing and the various licenses and such.  Then ended up clicking the buy button when I wasn't sure I really meant to.  There was a famous composer (Alexander Borodin) who once said something like he was a chemist for the money and composing was his pass-time.

I have NOT kept up on upgrades, because yes Max is expensive.  It suits my purposes.  3D art work is a hobby for me.  Sure I'd like to have some of the new features but not keeping up the upgrades I'd have to purchase at full price again and I'm just not ready to do that.

I do have Daz Studio for people making.  I've tried making people models by hand and have done it but it is really tough.  Why reinvent the wheel when Daz is free. Now it has the genesis model to work with which is pretty much like having a human shaped bit of clay to make whatever kind of person you want.  The clothes are a problem, haven't gotten a good hang of that.

Enough about that, this is a MEHEM thread.

I get that about every time I play through and I haven't figured out the cause.  I suspect some updating goes on between plays and some files are messed with in the interim.  Uninstall and reinstall of MEHEM seems to fix it for me.  Sad thing is I don't know it is going to happen until MEHEM starts doing its thing and it stops where you describe.  Good thing is that apparently some save is made and when I startup again after the "fix" I can just watch the ending rather than having to go through the final run to the citadel beam again.  One day I'll figure out what is happening to cause it.

Never mind the empty background or that the "dog fight" in the beginning is only rudimentary at this point. I always create the basic outline for the main actors first and add all the little stuff and background later so many of the other ships are just haphazardly thrown into the map at this point.

Huge "Thank you" to Ottamis for the new Normandy textures!!! (Unfortunately the higher resolution is again barely visible thanks to youtube)

@MordicaiBlack: If you are not running any other mods, then as 3DandBeyond said, it sounds like an issue with a game update. Try to repair and re-install. You can also deactivate automated updates in Origin, so that you can make backups before updating anything manually.


Now hey, that's pretty cool.  It looks like this has matured from cutting and pasting scenes to actually inventing whole new scenes.

Yes, well spotted. I tried to conceal this as much as possible through camera movement (which apparently didn't work :)). Thing is, it's really tough to keep the Normandy moving and to have the shuttle exit at the same time actually. The reason is the interior of the hangar. This is actually just a plate-like mesh with an ME3 in game flycam screenshot applied as a texture (meaning it's a flat image). It's important that this stays exactly in the right place and that the angle towards the camera is correct or it will look weird due to perspective distortion. I haven't managed so far to keep all the angles straightened out and keep the whole thing moving at the same time. I will keep trying though.

@Xilizhra: Unfortunately, no. Too much other stuff has been going on to persue this at the moment. Actually, I kinda forgot what the premise there was supposed to be, sorry. Was it about preserving the choice in game (difficult) or just about showing the blue videos instead of the red ones and, say, chosse during install (easier)?
In any case, there is nothing for control planned for v0.4 at the moment, sorry.

 Would some cinematographic legerdemain work?  Like show the opening of the bay but then change the camera to a rear angle view of the shuttle leaving and follow.  Would that cut out the flat texture plate problem?

I have run into a problem that I hope someone might be able to help me fix. I had to reinstall ME3 and put MEHEM back with the installer. I also had used MrFob's directions for "healing" Shepard at the memorial scene, (removing the injuries from his face) with a hex editor.

The instructions say to go to the byte at the offset 4D8F9 (or 317689 in decimal base) which should be a "7D" and to Change it to 7E. Then repeat the procedure at above at the offset 4DE4E (319054).

This worked great when I did it originally, but after the new install 7D is not at offset. It says "02" at 4D8F9 and 84 at 4DE4E. Does any have an idea what is wrong or what I am doing incorrectly?

@BDelacroix: Thanks about the videos. Still al lot of work to be one though. :) That problem you and MordicaiBlack seem to have is weird. I do recommend turning off the auto update function in Origin though. AFAIK, BW doesn't plan anymore patches anyway and you can still update manually but this should take care of the problem (if it is really due to updates).

@eric2465: Sounds like you try to change the BioD_End002.pcc of the main game. This will not work. Instead, you need to extract the BioD_End002.pcc from the EC DLC package with ME3Explorer's DLCEditor. Do this after you installed MEHEM, make the changes and then re-insert the file into the DLC (again with the DLCEditor, check the first post of the customisation thread for more detailed instructions).

@MrFob, I have a question/request about the next MEHEM version.

I know MEHEM installer requires vanilla Leviathan and Extended Cut, but now that the new ME3Explorer is quite stable and repacks the .sfar files correctly, lots of ppl are starting indexing the DLCs so the mods includes them and automatically change the vanilla DLC files. Is there a possibility that the new MEHEM version will deal with changed .sfar files so ppl will not have to reinstall all mods again or will there be a workaround for this in the new version?

( does not work  befor going to  earth only  befor cerberus base  ....darn  imagin the possibliltes   )

Gotta say mate, I'd prettymuch chucked ME3 into the bin after the Extended Cut fixed bugger all. But this, this right here makes me want to play again, and again, and again. I know the ending can never really reflect all the choices, it's just to big for any one man or woman, but the fact I at least get that bittersweet moment that I was hoping for in the original release, that's huge, and something I just have to thank you and yours for.

Only tip I can offer, that voice for the Alliance/Turian pilot that goes with Joker there was really quiet for me, I couldn't make out a thing he said (Hence me not knowing the faction there) so maybe bumping that a bit would help.

MrFob. I'm finally back home now and will begin work as soon as I can. However I was wondering if you could please direct me somewhere to teach me more about the UDK editor because I'm fairly familiar with 3dsmax now but I don't even know where to start in UDK. Particularly regarding animation for characters, any help is greatly appreciated as is your fantastic work.

I would of course too appreciate any advice or tips anyone else has too offer too.

@Antaris: Well, someone would have to write a TOC.bin updater for DLCs. Without that, there is not much that can be done because I cannot anticipate what exactly people modded in their DLC and I have to adapt the PCConsoleTOC.bin of the EC in order to make MEHEM work. Modding the Leviathan DLC should be fine. IIRC, I only changed the BioD_End002_400Guardian.pcc and the DLC_EXP_Pack001_Int.afc in that one and the length didn't change so I didn't have to edit the PCConsoleTOC.bin in that DLC. So if you stay away from those two files, you should be able to do whatever you want with Leviathan.

@eric2465: Glad to hear it. :)

@creapsmantic: Thanks for the info. So I guess before Cronos it is then.

@Galamere: Thanks. VO improvements in that area are planned for v0.4 so you no longer will have to miss out on Cpt. Fob of the SSV Nuernberg. :)

@TheTallSpartan: You cannot make animations (other then linear movement) in UDK. You need to make them in 3DsMax and export them into psa files with Epics import/export tools. You can also try to export psa files from Mass Effect 3 itself, using ME3Explorer's "Animation Explorer' (in the dev tools menu). For some animations this works, for others it doesn't (at least for me atm, see here).
As for getting started with UDK, Epic has a bunch of rather good introduction pages, e.g. here and here. Otherwise, if I want to do something and don't know how, I just google the problem and usually find a pretty good youtube tutorial within the first 5 results. Just play around with it and you'll be learning by doing. :)

Hmmm... how would MEHEM Synthesis work? This actually might require less explanation than MEHEM Control: just have Shepard stand near the beam and not jump into it, and proximity could explain the "add energy" thing? It's not like the line makes sense even in the main game... and Shepard could perhaps more plausibly come out of this alive.

I have a question about the final memorial scene. I know Shepard has been through a lot, but medigel still works, right? Is there any way of cleaning up the bruises and bloody nose and mouth? Maybe slap a little face paint on there.

Liara got all cleaned up. Damn, that's right. She's more heroic. (sorry I've been in too many David threads)

I suppose control has more sense. Why would you choose something the Reaper Overlord is telling you? what sense has synthesis on a scifi context if you cut the space magic part?

Imagine that we skip catachid and make my good old harby friend the reaper overlord. Would you trust him?

Other thing is Illusive man, that, besides the craziness, could have found a way to control the reapers.

But I think that is out MEHEM scope. The original, and central idea of the mod is "kill the reapers, save the galaxy, give me a single chance to win. I play to win because I AM Shep, u remember?"

Beyond that, is another mod, IMO ^_^
