Hmmm... how would MEHEM Synthesis work? This actually might require less explanation than MEHEM Control: just have Shepard stand near the beam and not jump into it, and proximity could explain the "add energy" thing? It's not like the line makes sense even in the main game... and Shepard could perhaps more plausibly come out of this alive.

I suppose you could have Shepard jump into the beam, and instead of dissolving, the beam scans and repairs Shepard, and then spits them back out. And the rest plays out as usual?

@TheTallSpartan: You cannot make animations (other then linear movement) in UDK. You need to make them in 3DsMax and export them into psa files with Epics import/export tools. You can also try to export psa files from Mass Effect 3 itself, using ME3Explorer's "Animation Explorer' (in the dev tools menu). For some animations this works, for others it doesn't (at least for me atm, see here).
As for getting started with UDK, Epic has a bunch of rather good introduction pages, e.g. here and here. Otherwise, if I want to do something and don't know how, I just google the problem and usually find a pretty good youtube tutorial within the first 5 results. Just play around with it and you'll be learning by doing. :)

Thanks, you're a massive help.

I know it's pretty brutal but you could have shepard just pick up one of the dead humans in the hallway... It wouldn't even have to be shown it could just be implied.

Sorry for the double post, I forget about my first whilst I posted the second

I'd just have Shepard spit into the beam, "There you go. My DNA 'essence'. Knock yourself out kid."

Or he sticks a toothpick in his mouth and chews it a moment as he appears to be thinking. Pulls the toothpick out of his mouth and flicks it into the beam. "There you go kid. Knock yourself out."

Or...as another suggested and I thought way back in the controversy day, just toss a dead body into the beam. They're all over the place.

Maybe as Shepard approaches the beam, it grows end engulfs him/her? Kinda like the explosion in Destroy? That way that silly "Leap of faith" can be avoided and there might be a body to find?

Oh come on now, we have to have at least stupid symbolic thing in synthesis.

Edit: Though now I have a question, I looked at the thread you linked for animations using the ME3 explorer, but I'm hitting export to PSA and nothing is happening.  What else do I need to do?

Edit numero dos: I may have it figured out, will let you know.

Edit iii: Got it exported, but the animation itself does not seem to want to work in UDK.

@ruggly: Yea, I only tested this very shortly. If you have any new info, please post it on the ME3Explorer forums. Any feedback is helpful for the project.

As for the Synthesis version, just as with Control, there are no plans atm to do anything like that.
BTW, I think if we would do anything, we should have Shep smoke during the catalyst conversation and then flick the cigarette into the beam. :)
Seriously though, changing any of those animations like that (for any of the proposed stuff) is beyond anything I can do. In any case, no plans in that direction. Destruction it is.

I was serious about the bloody bruised face thing, though. Is there no way of getting rid of that, really?

I mean Liara was banged up really bad enough to have a crest tentacle split. I know Liara is more heroic than Shepard, but come on. Shepard really got a raw deal on heroism. In my heroism analysis the only one less heroic than Shepard is Shepard's clone. And Tali was the most heroic of all.

I actually like the bruising.  It helps demonstrate how badly injured Shepard was but kept going on (heck he/she suffered a "bullet burn" from Harbinger itself).  This demonstrates both how determined Shepard was an, in a way, how heroic Joker was, snatching Shepard from the jaws of Death itself.

Mr.Fob, I just posted a tid bit of what I'm trying to do in the same ME3 forum thread that you linked earlier, along with a screen shot of the animations I'm trying to take out.

@IHJ, I am not Spanish. But I took four years of Spanish class.  Haven't used it in about five years though, so I'm sure I would absolutely mangle the language.

MrFob, did you ever get my Shepard-Bruised-But-Not-Bleeding texture to work in-game?

No, not yet, too much has been going on. However, I did have another idea about that the other day. If you remember, the main difficulty was to find a place to put it in because we'd want to keep the original injury decal textures for the citadel mission itself, irhgt. Well, it occurred to me that there is a decal system for the memorial in place which is not used by MEHEM at all at the moment and that is what BW calls the "syntesis crust" (i.e. the green circuit effect on people's skin). Maybe we can overwrite that texture and apply it to Shepard. It's a bit tricky since I actually removed all the sequence nodes for it in order to make MEHEM work but maybe I can still put it in in this way somehow.

Saren  sure   .....  Udina    no  he  is  a coward and a liar

Saren   and    The  illusive man  wanted what was  best for every one (   the needs  of the many )       ... at the time   ....    ... then  became  victims   of reaper  indocternation

I finally decided to download and install MEHEM.

And I am already facing a problem (detailed description, in case it helps:)

So, I immediately started with the last Citadel mission (walk to the beam, confront TIM, Joker's transmission, etc.)

After the sequence where the Citadel opens up completely, I start hearing the Overlord combat theme, and then it stops. I thought it was normal, but after a minute, I opened the Task Manager, and I saw that ME3 was "Not Responding".

I tried again, and the same thing happened.

Any solutions?

Does anyone here know how to create a subtractive level in UDK in the latest version?

Did you install before Cronos Station? If not, there's your problem!

@Gemini Freak: Sounds like Origin updated your game files after installing MEHEM (it does this sometimes, you can disable Origin's auto update function to prevent this from happening). An un-install and subsequent re-install should do the trick.

@cfs3corsair: If ME3 crashes, a late save is not the problem. The game will not crash just because you use a post Cronos non EC save. All that will happen in that case is that you get the wrong cutscenes.

@creapsmantic & PolBear: Nothing like that is planned. Personally, I think neither TIM nor Saren deserve a tribute. They both were bad guys long before the Reapers got hold of them. If anyone, Udina might but his case is not cleat cut either (and he was a jerk :)). So no, no tributes for any of these guys, sorry.

@ruggly: Posting in your ME3Explorer thread.

About the tribute, I though a time ago that could be great, after shep falls, to hear:

-Saren's voice -> "Is not submission not prereable to extinction?"
-Illusive man -> "I can control them!"
-Harbinger -> "You will be as we are"

Was a one-day idea, though. As MrFob says, they deserve no tribute. Specially Udina, that is a pure politician XD

I was curious, you surprised me with this text. About mangling, I bet my italian is far worse than your spanish xD

About the subtractive color... if I correctly understand the term, of course, I think you can alter the camera perception of the environment by using color filters on kismet. Not sure, anyway.
