I think I've asked this before but I don't really remember. Ok, so I probably haven't played any Mass Effect game for almost two years now, I used to play ME1 and ME2 very frequently, I had lots of playthroughs in both.

Nonetheless, after ME3 came out with all its issues, not just the nonsense ending, I just couldn't bear it, each time I tried to play the games I'd be thinking about how ME3 would screw everything up because it was just so unlike the other two, with its autodialogue, fedex quests, lack of atmosphere, nonsense ending, etc.

So, finally, my question is this. Is it worth it to try it out again? I honestly don't know if I'd be able to look past the game's problems.

With MEHEM, yes!! The "Citadel" DLC is also a must-have.

I was in the middle of my first ME3 playthrough when the ****storm started about the endings. I held out as long as I could but ended up watching a vid on youtube before I completed my game. Boy howdy, was that a mistake!!

Like others who have commented before me, I was about to remove all ME games from my PC when I heard about MEHEM and how it brought a better sense of closure to the trilogy. I wanted to try it but the initial instructions to install it terrified a technically-challenged relic like me. Wavion's installer, though, took care of that problem. :)

Thanks to MEHEM, whenever the mood strikes me to start up a mega-playthrough I know that it will conclude on a hopeful note and not the unmitigated doom and gloom that made playing ME3 more like a chore.

So by all means, install MEHEM and fire up ME3. You might like what you see. :D

I may have found a simpler fix for the black textures/textures not loading issue. I installed MEHEM, reverted to a backed up, older TOC.bin file, ran the updater in ME3 Explorer and the game booted up with modded textures, and the ending worked fine.

So the issue I and another user above have been having may be a problematic TOC.bin file. This may be worth a try before reverting the game to vanilla, installing MEHEM and then installing textures mods.

I've attempted both methods and still have black textures. It could be because I forgot to turn Origin's auto-update off. I'll keep testing and see if I resolve it.

Edit: After uninstalling MEHEM it seems the textures are still black, so my particular problem may not be related to MEHEM at all.

Confirmed, my problem was unrelated to MEHEM. It seems one or more of the texture mods themselves were the cause.

I'm finishing ME3 with the mod, but I keep getting ending slide glitches. It only shows a few of them, and then gets stuck playing the "we gave up a lot but won in the end music" in a loop. Admiral Hacketts dialogue is a little late aswell. Does anyone know a solution to the problem. (BTW I checked the FAQ, repair installed/updated the EC DLC, the Game, uninstalled and reinstalled the mod and have The Citadel DLC installed)

Just checking in after some months away.

Hope all is going well with the project.

Mr. Fob, I saw you updated the OP after months! Forgive my ignorance but I don't realize what you changed, it does look a lot neater though : )

Anyway, hope all is well with everyone here and can't wait for V0.4!! I'll be lurking in the shadows watching, waiting : )

Thanks for the kind comments on the last page everyone!!!

@Blad3Zer0: I am kind of glad to hear it's not MEHEM in your case (selfish, I know :)). All I can tell you is that it's very important to use the correct version of ME3Explorer for texture mods ar they can cause these kinds of glitches. I had the same issue with an new textures of the Ashley combat bun mod once but it worked out after updating my ME3Explorer and re-installing.

@HourlyB: That sounds strange. Have you turned off Origin's auto update feature? At which slide is it stopping? If it's at the quarian/geth slide, what was your decision on Rannoch? You could try a manual install and see if this helps.

@Jade: You are about a month early. :) I only updated the OP to add a new "Problems and solutions FAQ" link to it. The real update for v0.4 is due in a couple of weeks.

That's the thing, I've been using the latest SVN update for ME3Explorer. I'm not sure if that has caused incompatibility with some of the texture mods, but so far I haven't had such issues with the stable binary release. I'm not 100% positive about this though, so I'll hold off until I'm sure before posting a bug report on the main site.

...but I digress, this thread is for MEHEM, and since I've already verified my texture problem is unrelated, I'll take it somewhere more appropriate.

Looking forward to 0.4!

Don't know if anyone of you heard this, but I thought, after making this song, that it could honor the MEHEM experience.

I'm not asking for the song to be in the actual mod.

I just thought  that this song, in a way, could commemerate the communitys' support for/and MrFob, for the alternative ending we've all wanted.

^_^ So thank you MrFob.  Thank you.

Yes, and it stops right after the scene where you see the fleet fly by the wrecked relay. But it doesn't stop, it just continues with a black screen for a minute, then shows krogan, the geth/quarian peace slide, the citadel, jacob, and finally ending on miranda looking at the stars. (Not the one with the Normandy, the standard one) Also, I'm getting a error message at the menu saying that the game is 'unable to authorize the listed DLC", followed by all of my DLC. Does anyone know the problem? I've also completely reinstalled the game and mod.

Hrm...to me this sounds as though something's corrupted within the base Extended Cut-files during installation. You tried re-installing just EC yet?

I tried repair installing, no dice. Should I completely reinstall the whole thing again?

Caveat: Repair-install of ME3 WON'T fix DLC. There is a separate "addon" page in Origin that will allow you repair DLC. You must go to the ME3 addons page, right-click the Extended Cut DLC and then choose Repair Install.

I've been a loyal fan of Mass Effect ever since ME1 came out, it was totally epic for me it blew my mind, must have done over a dozen playthroughs at least. ME2 came out and I was very happy with it, not as awesome as the first but still got me to do over half a dozen playthroughs.

When 3 came out I was super excited, I bought it the day it came out and finished it not long after. I was immensely disappointed with it, the endings were very underwhelming, and all the hype about choices all boiled down to simple number crunching and weren't even given a pre-rendered cut scene at the end. Suffice to say I put the game away and uninstalled it after only 1 playthrough, I was very disappointed in Bioware.

The game stayed that way till last week when I found your mod MrFob. Knowing that I can now do a playthrough where Im not left feeling lost, confused, an empty has motivated me to reinstall it and try again, even reinstalled ME2 to finish off a few unfinished saves (smart me kept all my original saves :-D. )

All I wanted to say was thank you for making the ME trilogy playable again for me. Thanks to you and all those who aided you in making this mod.

Josh

@Iclonic: I think I said it before but I really love your music, especially the piano heavy tracks (A Final Stand is my favourite :)). I am honoured that you'd dedicate one of your songs to MEHEM. Thanks!

@HourlyB: Sorry, I am not sure what to tell you. As wavion and Chashan say, it sounds like there may be something wrong with the EC in the first place.

@creapsmantic: I personally like to install with texplorer, rather than using texmod. It's just a more natural experience, you skip the load times and don't risk glitches (well, if everything works that is). Basically you do one install and don't worry about it afterwards.

@Wevein: Thanks! Sounds very much like my own story actually. Keep an eye for v0.4 in the next couple of weeks.

I saw it even before I had played the game. Although its not the doom and gloom that makes me angry, its mainly that they tried to cram Deus Ex into Mass Effect for some nonsense reason. I have no problem with a bittersweet ending but I do have a problem with loose ends and the ending had so many it was unbelievable, even though ME3 has more problems than just the ending, at least in my opinion, the ending was like a whole other thing compared to the rest of the game and those problems.

Since this gets rid of that, I'm reinstalling all three games, I wish I could keep that restricted to Steam though, I've got ME1 and ME2 installed there, and installing another client just for one game is kind of impractical.

Alright, one question: you mentioned that you got the Rannoch-resolution slide, correct? Was it the slightly tweaked one sáns green lights, or the standard Green?

Elsewise, my guess is that the installer-client got corrupted during download. I'd suggest putting back into place your backup, and either redownload the installer or grab the manual version and try that.

Hope that'll be of help.

Right now the game is not working. It tells me that it can't authorize the DLC. I would just watch the ending, but I have principles. But does anyone know the problem? (I've tried repair installing all of my DLC's, to no avail, and advice is welcome)

Ok, let me get this straight: You installed ME3 from scratch (delete the folder and everything, even the config files in your documents folder, then install from Origin). Then you installed all the DLC, you own via Origin. After this the game worked. Then you installed MEHEM v0.3 with the installer. And then your game gives you the message that it can't authorize DLC. Is this what happened?

EDIT: If you haven't tried it yet, try this procedure because it sounds to me like some of your files are seriously messed up. Just make a backup of your config files in the your documents folder before you delete it or you will loose all your saves and all your achievements. Mind you, I am not sure why this procedure should be necessary and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else. Origin's repair function should restore all corrupted files but if nothing else works, sometimes you just have to hit things with a sledgehammer.

hey iron do you think you could add in reapers controlled by leviathans ?

... like a side add on for those who do an don't want it ... ( just show reapers tackling each other ripping each other apart or >> squeezing each other could work .. then they explode )

Well, to be honest, the video add phase is ended unless we discover a bug.

I'm concentrating on getting the last voices we need, balancing sounds and so.

Perhaps in a future, but right now at least at my end, is not in my plans =)

The bigger issue would probably be having to make it conditional for thoseof use who do not have "Leviathan".

I'm sure Fob has mentioned this, but it's been a while since I checked in so I would have no idea what page it's on. I'm just wondering what kind of updates I can look forward to in v0.4?
