AAnnndd...while the voting part is very important I'm here seeking a bit of tech-support kind of thing.
Long story short: Old system was dying when MEHEM 0.4 came out. Decided to not just reinstall the system but do a hardware upgrade as well. It took some time, now it's done. So with a great sense of anticipation and triumph I competely resintalled ME3 on a fresh system just brimming with power. Right afterwards it was Time For MEHEM![b]

And what I got was....

This Error Message During MEHEM's installation

I did attempt a repair install as suggested. There were no errors found. No missing files or corrupted files. ME3 was at the latest version and I have all, repeat, ALL DLCs including Citadel and Leviathan.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps replacing the new Bioware file in my documents folder with the original one that I had preserved on another partition. I didn't want to lose any of my saves. In the meantime I'll try a complete wipe/reinstall leaving the fresh Bioware folder.

I've no idea what any of it means and would very much appreciate any and all answers.

************************************
[b]UPDATE

************************************

Situation resolved. It must have been the old bioware folder.

@Mad-Hamlet
The only other thing I seem to read is to confirm that you did a repair install on the DLC as well, particularly, the EC. It sounds like you have been pretty thorough and it's a new build. If you haven't tried a repair install of the EC, try that.

I didn't know you could do a repair install on DLCs. So...I've got that going for me now...which is nice.

I'm about 75% done with the new install. This time around I'll leave the original bioware folder that is created in Documents as is and try installing MEHEM. I'll let you know how it goes.

Repair install is vastly superior to re-install :D

I just got through the game with this, and it was a pleasant surprise really. The only things I can see needing work would be the lip sync of especially EDI and addition of subtitles since my hearing as about as good as a bat's eyesight - which I bet I'm not the only one suffering from.

That said, after having read through comments here I think that a lot of this could very well have been added after the starchild: starchild convrersation -> select: destroy -> MEHEM.

That would not only preserve the exposition from the star child, but also wrap the entire thing up so the destroy ending would make sense even more, and here I'd like to quote Wrex from ME2:

"How many times have you stepped in a mess for your crew, hm?"

So with MEHEM attached after the starchild, you would essentially get the crew stepping in a mess for their commander which all things considered should be a non-question for the team (and Joker doing some actual combat flying, which has been sadly absent from a lot of the triology - very nice touch adding that).

Anyway, just my 2.

Oh yes, I understand that the last conversation with Anderson is longer? I would love to see more of that.

Finally got round to finishing a playthrough with the new version of MEHEM. Very impressed, especially with the new e-mails & as my main Shep is with Miranda the new last slide was a lovely addition.

I would love to see the longer Anderson convo, and an option for installing the MEEM version of the Catalyst scene(edited for the "shoot the kid" outcome), so we get some wrap-up of the Reaper's story and the dark matter stuff. Other than that, this is excellent!

@GoldFlsh: The install is really easy, you just ahve to replace a couple of files with the DLCExplorer. Takes about 5 minutes. Just make sure you read the thread, AVPen linked carefully and install the MEHEM music fix as well, if you want to combine this with MEHEM.

@Mad-Hamlet: I hope that DLC repair fixed your problem. :)

@DarkPikmin & Grizzly46: I really don't see MEHEM working well with the catalyst, with or without MEEM. Just from a technical perspective. Even if you put star kid back into the game flow, half the MEHEM videos would already play before the conversation, the control and the sound and music files are completely messed up to fulfil the requirements for MEHEM. Because MEEM changes these same files, it's pretty much impossible to combine them without making a completely new file (as in starting from scratch).
While it may be possible to jury rig MEHEM's memorial scene into the original ending (I think someone made a post about this in the customisation thread), I cannot guarantee that this won't cause major issues with the game as you have to replace files like BioD_End002.pcc which interacts with all of the ending and which I changed quite a bit for MEHEM as well. Not to mention that in that case, there would be no explanation as to why Shep is at the memorial in that case.

Now don't get me wrong, I am absolutely happy with anyone taking this mod apart and doing with it whatever they want. In fact, I do appreciate this a great deal and hope that people will come up with cool alterations and share them. All I am saying is that I can't guarantee that things will work and hat I myself don't have any plans on working on this at the moment.

Is this something that is only impossible ATM, due to limited ability to mod the game files and might be possible when further control has become available?

If someone were to look into starting from scratch so that the MEHEM videos play after the starchild, would it be possible? I understand that you don't want to take it on, but I think if someone were to do it, it'd be worth it.

The main issue at the moment is where to put the videos. We can't add videos to the game so for every new video that is put in, you need to throw out an existing one. This is not a problem for MEHEM as it is now because I can basically throw out everything that has to do with Control and Synthesis. However, if you wanted to keep the choices, you need to keep all those videos as well. You can do this if you restrict the mod somewhat, e.g. only make it work for high EMS or something like that but my personal goal was always to make mods that work no matter what )ideally). If anyone can ever figure out how to add videos or other files to the game, that would be the holy grail of ME3 modding. It's tough (believe me, we've tried) but I'd encourage everyone to give it a shot. I'd be excited if anyone could pull it off.

In terms of modding the files and the game flow, there are also a few things that wouldn't quite add up at the moment but there might be ways around this ...maybe ... theoretically. Practically however, one of the issues is that I learned a lot while developing MEHEM. This means that there are things, which I did in the beginning of development more than a year ago, which would have to be optimised in order to make the catalyst scene and the choices work again. As I said above, it would mean to pretty much starting from scratch.
But yea, if someone is keen to give this a try, why not?

Oh, on a completely unrelated note and on behalf of IHJ: ;)

Thank you, I did manage to do it without too much hassle. I had to Download ME3Explorer, though! And I did see your music fix in the post  :) now just hoping I did it right. I'll find out in 30 hours since I'm only about 6 hours into the game.

Question: Anyone can answer, when should I expect to see the first MEHEM email in my game, I want to make sure it's installed correctly before I actually get to the end and I don't think I've seen anything yet. I've only just completed the Palaven mission, though.

Thanks, I'll be back to compliment the work when I finish the game. Prolly next month though Chistmas will have me pretty busy

Really liked what I saw on v0.3 but I've been avoiding videos of v0.4. I want to be surprised =). Really phenomenal job to Fob & the entire modding community for making this happen.

Oh yes, I didn't say my previous suggestion would be possible without some serious modding of the mod; just that it would make even more sense if you both get the starchild and (if destroy i choosen) the happy ending after Shepard is blown away and then found and rescued.

"....you should see it as I do, it's...perfect."

Finally played through the end with v0.4 and its mighty fine stuff. It gave me the same feeling I had at the end of ME2, which was all I wanted from the game. I realised on playing that the structure also follows ME2's successful sequence, with the big moments at the end closing on a personal scene, with Shepherd and crew, much as happened at the end of ME2. Thematically it works so much better than the original in this way.

Spoiler warning ahead:

Some standout moments include the way the Normandy tucks itself under the Nuremburg, and is shielded up until it shoots out for the rescue. Very powerful stuff in terms of feedback for the game so far and Shepherds value to the forces in the battle. Similarly, the rescue scene fits really well with that theme.

Both voice overs also sound great - IHJ and MrFob really sound like Alliance. Nicely done.

Harbinger' presence is really felt in this version too. Nice to hear the old enemy smack talking.

On the technical side, there was only one lip synch issue with EDI as far as I could see, the rest of it is fine. I had some choppiness in the space battle scenes though, and am not sure if that is the mod or something else. The fade to blacks are a bit long, but I understand that to be the result of working within the limitations of the original game. Nothing there to be fussed about.

Would I be right in spotting the surprise at the end? The game put me back on the Normandy, just like in ME2. That meant I was able to launch straight into Citadel. I can't remember how the original credits ended, but if that was the surprise, it was a damn fine one as it reinforced the whole post game continuity. I've just launched into Deager's version of Citadel, and so far the DLC feels like it was meant to be after the game, especially with Anderson's notes and the restaurant discussion with Joker.

Anyway, it was a magnificent ending and the one the series deserved. I can't help but contrast it to my flat response to the original ending. My personal reaction during this end included two fist pumps, two hair standing on end moments and one near tear shed.

Thanks so much for that, to Mr Fob and the rest of the team.

@Grizzly46: Yea, as I said, it's tricky because of the modding limitations. Not necessarily completely impossible but tricky. I don't have any plans to tackle something like that at the moment. Sorry.

@frypan: Glad you got around to playing it. To address a few of your points there:
- One correction, the soldier who rescues Shep is voices by CommandBenX, not IHJ. :)
- The choppiness should not come from the mod as such. All the new videos are created with 60 fps and are than reformatted to 30 (which is what the game uses). They should be smooth in principle.
- Good spotting there on EDI's lip sync. Should be easy to cut to Joker half a second earlier to avoid that in v0.5.
- The long fade to black: If you are referring to the one right after Shepard's and the soldier's hand-grab, that can't be helped. The game loads the rest of the ending during that time. If you are referring to the one after the Normandy bugs out and before the cut to London, I noticed that as well. I'll see if I can shorten that a bit for the next version.
- As for the secret, no, I am afraid you didn't find it. :) Even the original game would place you back on the Normandy after the ending. As far as I know, nobody found the secret yet. Seems we might have hidden it a bit too well. Maybe we'll make it a bit easier to find in the next version. ;)

@frypan: Do you mean it put you onto the Normandy post-game? Because vanilla ME3 does put you on the Normandy, it just does it via a newly created pre-ending save.

@Jackal13th: You need to use the MEHEM uninstaller before installing the new version. You can use either the v0.3 or the v0.4 uninstaller to remove v0.3. For more information, please also refer to wavion's Installer FAQ, linked in the OP.
