@IHJ: not really encrypted, but they have a complex format, you can use gibbeds savegame code as base f.e. (here)

Was his solution that he only had to run a vanilla ending once, and after that, all Mehem endings worked fine for NG+ mode? If so, that's not such a big deal, as a workaround.

If it's just a matter of having an NG+ save game in the list, might it be possible to put a "basic" savegame file available for download over on the Nexus site? If that will unlock NG+ mode from then on, it might suggest a temporary solution.

@Kitsudragon: I am not entirely sure as I had no time to look into this yet and I am not certain what exactly causes the problem. However, I think you'd have to run the vanilla ending once for ech character, for whom you want an NG+ save. You can simply uninstall MEHEM, run it and then reinstall MEHEM but if you want the option for another character, you probably have to repeat the procedure. ALso, after you ran the original ending, it's probably a good idea to make a backup of your "LegendSave" file in your savegames folder of that character, as that is the save that you need for NG+ (I think).
BTW, which ending did you get, the hugging one or the non-hugging one? This is important for me to find and fix the bug. Cheers!

@IHJ: That sounds like an interesting project. I hope that I can find and fix this bug in the next version in the game files but if I can't, this would be very useful. If you want to do this in summer (northern hemisphere summer, right? :)), then we should know if we can fix this in game or not by that time.

@creapsmantic : I am afraid the finish line for my work project got delayed a bit and I am still fairly busy but at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel by now. Sorry, can't really be that specific at this point. I tried that before and it didn't work out. :)

Wow, that's very usefull!

Thanks a lot!

@MrFob.

Consider it done ;)

With a base documentation, I surely can give it a try. Is just a matter of time ;)

I got the hugging one. I had FemShep with Liara, and an EMS of something like 7,000, so it was the best ending.

Do you need a copy of my legendsave file?

So, here is some new information that is interesting for those who want to run MEHEM (or ThaneMOD or CEM) with texture/mesh mods. The me3explorer guys have worked their magic again and revamped the way, texture and mesh mods are integrated into DLCs. THe result is that they should work together much more smoothly now and possibly also work better with story mods like MEHEM. Just be sure to install story mods first and then go for texture and mesh mods.
Obviously, for this to work, you will need the latest version of me3explorer from SVN and if I understand correctly, you need new version of the texture/mesh mods which you want to run (basically, they should be no older than from yesterday.
It's probably best if you read all about it here.
Thanks goes to all involved in these changes, especially KFreon and WV!

@IHJ: Cheers mate! :)

@Kitsudragon: Thanks for the info. Actually, test save would be useful. I'll pm you. Also, while I didn't have time to look into this yet, jetfox, over at nexus noticed this:

jetfox wrote...

actually i found a better way till a fix, get a mass effect 3 save editor, i have gibbed me3 save editor, open the save file folder, then find that new game plus file, it does make one, then under game finished or ending finished, if it says 'no' or something select 'lived to fight another day' or 'went out in a blaze of glory' i have the same issue, and googled till i figured i would fix it myself, it seems for some it doesn't flag the game as being ended. and mehem is pretty much the only mod i have currently.

Maybe this will work for others as well.

EDIT: I think I found the bug. I got no idea when but I must have modified the savegame object that makes the NG+ save after all. Probably happened when I did some testing to connect MEHEM with CEM. Anyway, I think I fixed it but I have no way of testing my fix at the moment. I uploaded it to the BSN projetcs page for MEHEM for now. It would be great if someone who had the NG+ bug could test it ans see if it works.
Important: This fix only works for "base version" of MEHEM v0.4. If you have ThaneMOD or JohnP's LI mod installed, don't use it. Once I know that this one works, I will release fixes for these mods as well.
If you already went through the original ending to restore you LegendSave, simply move it to another folder and have MEHEM create a new one. NG+ should work when the fix is applied. Again, really sorry for this. I will obviously integrate this fix into v0.5. Cheers!

On a side note, I used the Gibbed editor, and changing the game status in LegendSave from "NotFinished" to "LivedToFightAnotherDay" (or whatever that setting is) caused the game to add "Import ME3 character" to the list of new game options. So even if the fix doesn't work, the Gibbed workaround does.

Edit: I checked the projects page, and all I see is a text file. Maybe that section is only available for people working with you on the project. If so, I'll wait to see what they say. For now, I'll go back into the game and see if that gibbed save file works with a new game. It *should*, in theory. But I still have to test it.

Sorry, always forget to set file permissions to "Everyone". File should be visible now.

Also, good to get confirmation on Gibbed. Thanks. :)

Grr. I found a *slight* flaw using Gibbed. For some reason, my restart has my Adept Shepard flagged as a Soldier. And no matter how many times I try to change it, the game insists Shepard is a Soldier class.

I'll try the modded file next.

Edit: Okay, I played the modded file, and everything seemed to work all the way to the end of the starman dialog section. Then the kid asks for another story, the starman says "one more," and the screen fades to black. Then it hangs.

I checked the save files. I have a newgameplus.pcsav but not a legendsave.pcsav.

Uh dam! Thanks for testing. This might take a bit longer than I thought. Will get back with more info when I got it. For now, I am taking the file offline again since it doesn't seem to work. Will be back ASAP.

I wouldn't go that far. It did hang at the end, but I think the legendsave is only made when you pick one of the color results and have a legendary high-ems run. But I started a new game after restarting ME3, and the new game works fine with the import.

So at the moment, I'd say the file only makes the game hang at the very, very end. But it *does* still make a file which can be used to start a new game. You just have to close the game and restart it. Not an "ideal" solution, but the logic of the savegame apparently works just fine.

So basically the only thing that's "broken" is the somewhat awkward pre-Cronos save following the extended dlc-message?

Ok, that's great to know, thanks. But I still want the file to work properly so I'll have to do this when I get home and have access to my game and do some proper testing on it. Thanks for all the help Kitsudragon . Really appreciate you taking all that time.

No worries. Glad I could help.

@Chashan: I"m not sure what you mean by the awkward pre-Cronos save. I may not be tracking the reference properly. :) However, all I *do* know is that the credits run, then you get the starman and child sequence where the Mehem credits roll. After the guy says he'll tell just one more story, the view fades to black. That's where it hangs. The game does make a "newgameplus.pcsav" file, and that has so far worked perfectly in a new game. It just doesn't proceed after the screen turns black at that point. A restart of the game has so far worked just fine.

Just talking about the game transitioning from the stargazer-scene to the DLC-popup message first and the auto-save it creates before Cronos second. ;)

The game ending without that may even be welcome to some. If all else works fine, I don't find that too bad a thing.

Edit: On a side-note, just tested the fix via save-editing the newgameplus.save, found that it imported my Vanguardess just fine.

Yep. I've just picked up Jaavik, and my Adept is working perfectly. So a minor hiccup at the end is definitely not a deal breaker.

Ok, I tested it on my own rig and the file works fine. I think the problem you had,
Kitsudragon, was again my fault though. The guide I read on NG+ must have been wrong. It's actually pretty straight forward, so here is how it actually works:
Before you start Cronos Station, the game creates the LegendSave. You do not realise this as the player but it is there. When you finish the game, it creates the NewGamePlusSave, which is, you guessed it, for NG+. Then, the game simply loads your LegendSave, which is why you are back before Cronos Station after the ending.
Because I told you to move that file to another folder, the game couldn't find it and crashed. Shouldn't happen under normal conditions.
So ... I made that fix available for the general public again. Only use it if you don't have ThaneMOD or the additional LI mod. If you have one of those, the bug shouldn't happen anyway.

Indeed. Many moved on, which makes sense. But there still seem to be quite a few players given the downloads over on Nexus.
