@Leosklein

The only thing relative to this I can tell you is in my version of Mass Effect 2, which I have through Steam, is setup to run texmod as the masseffect2.exe and then the game as ~masseffect2.exe. If I try to name the real exe as the correct name, I get a very similar problem you talk about in ME2. In my case, I hear everything for the menu, but it's black and the cursor moves around a black screen. I click everywhere but it don't matter. Uninstall, deleted all game folders and even my docs related Bioware folders, same problem. Texmod must remain the exe now.

This tells me either a hidden file or registry setting somewhere is not getting fixed despite an install from scratch. I haven't done it yet myself, but a good old system rebuild would probably fix it.

But I know with ME3 you have to be going through Origin and that means you can't possibly have the exe for texmod named masseffect3.exe since it won't work properly. I'm just saying, I've seen this type of behavior and I am probably reduced to a system rebuild if I want to fix it on my machine for ME2.

@MrFob

Dear MrFob, I have a question:

I've been using your mod since it's release, are you still working on a 0.5 version of MEHEM?

Sorry for my bad english, and MEHEM is very popular with the Brazilian fans of Mass Effect.

Ok I'm sorry this isn't MEHEM related, but seen as there are a load of very good moders here I figured I'd ask anyway, It's going to seem pretty mundane and simple to you guys, but for me (someone that can break ME but changing some textures) it's quite difficult.

So is there anyway that you can change the gender appearance of your character so that you can have the Male dialogue but look like a female (you know because romances) and vice versa. I'm most interested if this is possible for ME2 but ME3 info wouldn't go a unwanted if there was any to be had. Thanks!

I don't know if anyone has successfully done a model swap in ME2 before so that may be a no go. Model swaps are possible in ME3 but I think you'd have to create the Shep you want, export the file somehow (which I'm guessing you can do like you would with other characters, but I'm not sure) and then replace your existing Shep. I actually have only messed with hair and I'm not really sure where the data would actually be for Shep.

@TheGearinator: So this is of course off topic but  I thought I'd give this a shot just by gibbeting my save a little. There are several bools that are checks for gender in various circumstances of the game. Unfortunately, everything that controls dialogue also controls appearance. Suffice it to say, the results were ... unpleasant.
As Deager says, there is no simple way to do this I'm afraid.

@HolyFriedChicken: Yes, I am still working on it. In fact, I am working on both, v0.5 (which is in essence just an installer update, sounds easier than it is :)) and also already on some stuff that I plan for v0.6 (because it's more fun to work on). And because MEHEM just got past 1000 endorsements on on the Nexus, here is a little teaser image. Thanks for all the support over all this time guys!
While I planned to release v0.5 before Christmas, unfortunately my job has delayed those plans. I'll keep you updated though.

I'm digging the teaser image. Never thought you'd go for v0.6. If you ever want to stop, just call it version 1.0. Oh wait...that actually doesn't solve the problem.

I think he said in the past that 0.5 is mainly polish and bug-fixing.

I was hoping to release v0.5 before Christmas but alas, it wasn't supposed to be. I am sorry about the delay but I do have a few days off around New Year, so hopefully it's not a long delay.

And yes, v0.5 will mainly be an installer update and some bug fixes (NG+ bug and compatibility issues with Extended Anderson Convo, etc.). Some real changes a re planned for v0.6 but it's still too early to give details. I am still in the process of figuring out some issues there.

@MrFob

I am a late starter with Mass Effect and just finished it the first time last night. I even did not want to start the last msision because I knew of the Bioware-Endings ... so I discovered the galaxy just spending more time with my crew. When I decided to save earth I was really upset on the endings Bioware offered - the whole myth and charme of the game ended with these last scenes.

Today I found the MEHEM and installed it hopefully. I was/am playing the German version and even had to get used to the partial English-dubbed videos - but even with Joker and EDI talking in English I love this end best. And this new song in the credits ... wonderful ... it makes the story round

Now I am feeling sad and empty after following Shepard, Tali and the rest of the crew for hundreds of hours.

Thank you and all the other persons mentioned in the MEHEM-Credits for finally remembering this awesome ending.

I gues this question was asked on one of the nearly 290 pages....but...I will ask anyway:

Did Bioware let a comment on this ending? And if, do they understand the fans that someone had to chage their endings?

Thank you again

Patrick, Germany

Odd to say the least. I believe you'd also end up with a femshep with a maleshep voice and vice versa.

Merry Christmas all! I hope you were all able to spend time with your families today

Anyway, Bioware has not commented on the mod, specifically. They have said they are aware of modding efforts and that they permit them

I finished the game with John P's Alternative MEHEM yesterday,

To me there are a couple of thing I liked better.

I liked the rescue being dialogue over the breath scene. This is because I think it suits the pacing better and I do like the scene with Joker being told he should go.

Honestly if I could get a version of the MEHEM with the Hologram Kid removed and 'Reignite' over the ending, but with the rescue being over the breath scene and the Joker Go scene, I would be happy beyond belief.

I looked into trying to do it myself but I confess to it being way beyond my ability.

Did you know that version B just came out for JAM? That skips the kid. So, you're halfway there.

I didn't know that. Thanks for prompting me to check Deager.

NexusMods is the only site I've ever paid for membership, even though I don't have to. Going to be worth it for this.

Thanks again.

I mean this is no way to disrespect any other modder. Mr. Fob especially had given me back the enjoyment of Mass Effect 3, and I do not say that lightly. I owe him so many replays.

However. Oh my god! Version B of JAM (with the Extended Anderson Conversation) is exactly what I wanted the ending of this game to be.

I honestly can't find the words to describe how I feel.

Fob has always been a fan of choice. I was going to mention you should post something on the Nexus but I see you already did for JohnP/HelixSpiral. :)

I think MEEM is Fob's preferred ending anyway. He made MEHEM because so many people wanted something like that. Granted, he probably has OCD like me, so version 0.6 will be fun to see someday.

As for me, whatever works for a player. I still recommend trying the Extended Cut first, if people have only done the original endings. After that, yeah, then try out a mod. Pretty long list now, MEHEM, JAM A, JAM B, "That's more like it," and, for a slight change to the ending, Reaper AI Mod .

I'm also really impressed with JohnP's Alternate MEHEM.  And I'm glad people have a choice.  But the Catalyst is such an abomination in my eyes that original MEHEM will always be my first choice

This is the one thing that is srsly making me want to buy ME trilogy for PC...

So...million dollar question. What happens if they remaster the trilogy? Perhaps we can lobby for more modability for the revamped game? I know I will ask for this over a P:E revamp anyday since that would be like shouting at a wall.

The latest version has an A or B option. The latter of which skips the Catalyst and goes straight to Destroy, just like in the main MEHEM.

If they did a remastered trilogy I imagine it would only be for the One and PS4. After all the PC versions already have high resolution and high texture options.

As to moddibility, that isn't a call either Bioware or EA could make. The Mass Effect trilogy is built on the Unreal Engine 3 and it is Epic that own it.

I'm trying to install MEHEM and Extended Final Anderson Conversation mods but i'm getting this error:

''Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32\bink32.dll'

Then i have the options to Abort, Retry or Ignore.

I don't know why this is happening and i've searched a bit on the internet and i've found nothing.

Could someone help me, please?

I just deleted the dll and i was able to install without this problem. Did i made a mistake deleting this dll?
