If they did a remastered trilogy I imagine it would only be for the One and PS4. After all the PC versions already have high resolution and high texture options.

As to moddibility, that isn't a call either Bioware or EA could make. The Mass Effect trilogy is built on the Unreal Engine 3 and it is Epic that own it.

Just saying, I thought that they were doing a "re-master" as in, updating the engines and stuff as well? I thought I read somthing about them using Frostbite

I'm trying to install MEHEM and Extended Final Anderson Conversation mods but i'm getting this error:

''Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32\bink32.dll'

Then i have the options to Abort, Retry or Ignore.

I don't know why this is happening and i've searched a bit on the internet and i've found nothing.

Could someone help me, please?

I just deleted the dll and i was able to install without this problem. Did i made a mistake deleting this dll?

You shouldn't have deleted the dll but don't worry. Do this and I think you'll get the game running again.

Delete the DLC_CON_ExtAnd folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\DLC

Install the Extended Anderson conversation again.

That should put 2 dlls back into C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect 3\Binaries\Win32

And my hunch is, the game will work for you now. If not, let me know.

I discovered this awesome trilogy just a few days ago and was really angry about the original ending. I don't know if you can imagine how happy I was when I found your mod. Exactly the end I want. I call myself a romantic player and was so disappointed, that there was no reunion with my female Sheppard and her crew, especially her romance. You fixed this for me. Thank you for that. Thank you so much for saving this trilogy for me. You have a place in my modder hall of fame. xD *salute*

I can't see them switching engines for a 'next gen' version of the trilogy. Imagine the amount of work it would take for them to recreate all the environments in Frostbite.

There's a good chance they'd end up not looking like the place they are meant to be. Look at Redcliffe in Inquisition (built with Frostbite) and how it originally was in Origins (which used the Eclipse Engine). Had I not be told that's where I was going I would not have recognised it.

Switching a existing game from one engine to another isn't an easy thing to do.

The simple answer is that you don't. It's PC only.

Longer answer:  People tried to make it compatible with the XBox a while back.  Sadly no one could find a way to do it.

The cost to do that would be a lot.

MrFob,

Over on ME3nexus's page for MEHEM, the question was raised whether the manual files could be made available again - just checked whether the .rar you uploaded on afiles was still available, which does not appear to be the case.

Would it be possible to have them uploaded on the nexus-page itself?

Happy new year fellas! Not been around for a while, because I've been busy making and testing v0.5. Shouldn't be too much longer now.

@Chashan: That's weird. It works fine when I try it (and no, I am not logged into ADrive with my account so that's not it). I think one restriction of the site is that there can be only 10 downloads per day, so if many people should have tried downloading it at once, it may take 24 hours till it's available again. Otherwise it should work though. Can you try again and let me know what the error message is if it still doesn't work? Thanks.

Just did, just as before it says

The file you are trying to access is no longer available publicly.

Could just be the download-limit you mentioned, although that would still be rather low. While I myself got the .rar stashed on my external hard-drive, it may be more convenient for those who don't if the file were up on nexus, as that wouldn't be as tightly restricted, would it.

Hmmmm, it's not the download limit because it still works for me. You are using the link from the OP, right? This link.

Also, I just unshared and re-shared the file. Hope that fixes the issue. As for uploading to Nexus, I tried that back in the day but encountered errors during the upload. I figured the file might be too big (almost 1GB) but I don't know if it really was an issues with Nexus or if it was on my end..

Anyway, due to the re-organization of things for v0.5, people will basically have access to the files by default with the next version, as it will be installed as DLC (same as e.g. JAM). But let me know if it still doesn't work and I'll see if I can re-upload the files somewhere in the meantime.

I think I referred those who asked to a link posted on the moddb-download section by myself. Way back that exact one used to work, it did for me anyway, no real clue what changed there. Showed them the link you provided now, thanks for that, hope that'll serve for now.

How about uploading it in parts, then? Splitting it up in a DLC_CON_END-part and another for DLC_EXP_PACK_001,DLCExplorer and Main Game-folder would still be reasonable, with notice given that both are needed.

Yea, that could work. Although, if the current link works for now, I might just wait until v0.5 is finished, because that will remedy the installer problems anyway.

Anyway, thanks for the info.

Just wanted to say thanks.  I downloaded the bug fix for 0.4 ... ran the "return to the citadel" portion on the two runs I've completed (I've spent almost all my time on MP since release, since I hated the ending so much ... only recently came back to SP, with MEHEM, to play all the imports from ME1+ME2).  The third character I'm on now will cruise through, no problem.

In watching the final run twice, it really hits you, the level of work and the scope of MEHEM.  Pretty awesome.  Would be cool if the LI mod (Jack and Miranda) made it to 0.5 or even 0.6 ... since I have two runs that I specifically targeted for them.  I've got lots of runs to play in SP, so there is time.  ;-)

Again, thanks for all the work, to include all the updates and improvements ... it really has saved ME3 SP for me and allowed me to appreciate all that Bioware got right ... to include some pretty cool DLCs for ME3 SP.

"It removes the catalyst scene. No ifs, not buts. It's gone for good. (So is your choice, you will now destroy the reapers no matter what)"

I've got this mod installed, I've just checked by running the installer and it's telling me this mod is installed but I'm getting the Catalyst scene. You know, ascending on the pillar, meeting the star kid, get the choices etc. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times. Didn't work. At time of writing I've just downloaded the loose files and will try them tomorrow and edit the thread accordingly. Suffice to say, the Installer isn't working for me. Let me know if you any details from me.

Edit: I meticulously installed the loose files correctly and it didn't work and all it resulted in was infinite loading screens no matter the save I use.

MEHEM doesn't want to get installed at my end :(

I right-click the Installer to install MEHEM as an administrator, point the installer towards my Mass Effect 3 install folder (G:\Program Files (x86)\Mass Effect 3), then I click "next" and then "install" after the music option choice.

After that, the MEHEM installer, well, installs the mod, but it takes just one second and then it says "completed".

After that, it says "Installation Failed! MEHEM has NOT been installed on your computer!"

Must add I have all DLC, plus maybe a dozen MODs like Normandy and other environmental HR mods, alternate outfits for FemShep (CasualOutfit_White_MetalV2.0), Liara (Liara's Naughty White Suit v1), Miranda (A7_Velvet_Miranda_ME3_Fixed) and EDI (EDI's Naughty White Suit v1), as well as HR mods for faces...

Running Win7 64-bits on an AsRock eXtreme11 board with 3770K CPU, 16GB KHX Genesis and a 7970 Lightning...

Okay... double-posting since I can't see my previous post until it was approved by a mod, so no editing possibility.

Wanted to add I tried to install version 0.4 of the MEHEM, downloaded from the NEXUS forum (616MB unzipped).

Am downloading the same files from ADrive as I write.

Maybe MEHEM clashes with some of the other mods I installed?

Moderator(s): feel free to edit this second post into my first one if need be :)

Hallo,

I take it you followed the instructions I gave on the nexus-upload here, correct?

Did you happen to install any other mods? Otherwise, to make absolutely certain that you install into an untouched vanilla BIOGame-folder, I would suggest deleting its contents and either repair the game through Origin or move backed up vanilla contents of that folder in there should you have those. Once done, you can try and see whether just using the DLCExplorer packaged with the manual files will work for installation, following the instructions Fob packaged with that to the letter.

Or else try and proceed as I suggested in my linked post, get rev 653 of me3explorer, build a texture-tree with texplorer to use texture-mods in case you want those as well and then try and replace extracted DLC_CON_END (Extended Cut) and DLC_EXP_Pack001 (Leviathan, if you got that) as well as those still in the .sfar, using DLCExplorer 2 for the latter.

I hope this'll help.

NOTICE: @MrFob I'm not sue if this is a glitch, but there was something that happened during the modded endgame that seemed kinda funky. The mod works perfectly up until the normandy is outrunning the crucible beam; at this point a very scarred Joker is scrambling to make his exploding cockpit work as the Normandy explodes. But then the mod plays out exactly as it should. Now, I went back and played through again but this time I managed to unlock the Persuade/Intimidate options for TIM, (Mr Sheen) used them and then Normandy was fine. Is that a glitch or does the Normandy's fate ride on a diplomacy check? cuz that's kinda silly XD

Anyways, your work, and the work of your team and friends saved the Mass Effect story: thank you so much for MEHEM and all you've done to keep it working.

Sincerely:

Commander Jay Shepard, not my real name :)

Yes, installed correctly. Other mods where Tali full face mod, EDI Head and EDI Suit mod and the HD Textures. MEHEM was installed after these mods. Look, I'd love to use this mod, I really would, but equally, I really do not want to have to have a Phd in Computer science just to get it working. If you can keep your solutions simple, I'd appreciate it. When I tried to use Texplorer on an unrelated matter, I couldn't get it to work and I found it maddeningly complicated to use. Hence why I chose the installer version first. There's no crashes (when using the installer), it simply doesn't provide the alternate/new ending. It's as if it's not installing the mod.

@saladinbob

The only thing that came to my mind reading it was the it did install and didn't "install" in 2 seconds but ultimately say it aborted. It sounds like the installation was claiming to be successful but still failing. A few ideas.

1) I gather MEHEM v0.5 is coming with an installer using JohnP's method which means, much more reliable installs

2) hate the starkid? use JAM version B as a stop-gap while waiting for MEHEM or simply use JAM version B and enjoy (link to John's Alternate MEHEM in my sig)

3) ok with the starkid? JAM version A

I don't know how close Fob is to v0.5 but I'm pretty sure the installer upgrade is part of it. For chashan answering, unfortunately, there's no other way he can put it. When things don't go right, it will be a complicated solution. ME3 is a boshtet to mod and to install mods.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, not sure why not but here goes an second attempt. The installer ran perfectly. No error messages at all, no indication as to the mod not being installed. When you get to the point that the mod should kick in, it simply does not work. The game plays as if the mod has not been installed despite the Installer running perfectly and returning no error messages.

I don't hate the star kid per se, I hate the fact the three endings are largely identical and don't provide recognition of your efforts through the game, so don't allow you the freedom of a 'happy ending' choice. If I'm a dick and destroy the Geth or the Quarians, fair enough, but if I'm a Paragon and bring peace between them, I want the game to recognise that. Whichever mod allows me to achieve that goal, I'm game to try. All I know is the MEHEM I installed is the one off Nexus: http://www.nexusmods...fect3/mods/66/?

Man, not sure why it keeps freaking out on you.

EDIT: since you have other mods installed, try running the Tools -> AutoTOC and also the Developer Tools -> TOC -> DLC TOCbin Updater. That might help.

/EDIT

This is where the old vanilla procedure Chashan mentioned is necessary; where you uninstall, clear out all data in the Mass Effect 3 install directory, install ME3, and for testing, install only MEHEM and see if it works.

All that said, JAM version A might be up your alley. Version B makes the destroy choice for you but with version A you get better dialogue with the starkid and if your EMS is over 3,100 you get a more logical ending. I doesn't point out the peace between the geth and quarians directly but the dialogue makes more sense for keeping everyone alive.

I'm with you, my first trilogy run I actually said out loud to the screen, "But I made peace with them. Why is Shepard a wuss and not saying anything?"

Hopefully you got it with the manual install but what's happening is the installer verifies the size of the existing default.sfar files and if they don't match, it borks intentionally so you don't accidentally really mess up the game. With the manual install, and running the TOCbin updaters for DLC and the core game, it should work.
