While it'd be nice if Bioware pulled a Valve and allowed this to be official content, it'll never happen for pretty simple reasons.

Not only would it break their own artistic integrity, but think on how the vast majority of the gaming media acted toward those who wanted a change in the endings. Don't forget that we are all entitled whiners, cry babies who want unicorns and rainbows.

There is no way Bioware would do anything to upset their media defenders by officially releasing the MEHEM.

Heh, that gaming media. I found that whole fracas (not the Clarkson one, dang I miss that guy already) hilarious. Gaming media ripping on players. To me, gaming media is supposed to be news and reports, but apparently it's way more opinion articles. I like PC Gamer, but I always have that undertone from a few different guys about how the endings were fine and if you think otherwise you're a sniveling brat.

I'm just laughing thinking about it. No, I've finished many great stories where the hero dies and felt very satisfied. I could never dig the original or Extended Cut for ME3. It just really fell apart for the characters and how they acted in the situation. MEHEM takes away Shepard's ridiculous behavior of just going with the flow at the end with the starkid and the crew acts in a way that makes a ton more sense to me.

Granted, I'm starting to dig JAM version B for that breath scene. That has a great punch. And, his work to clean up the "intelligence" conversation I greatly admire and did enjoy a trilogy a run with that ending. I just with there were some way to get some fight back in Shepard's responses.

Although others disagree with me (on many things I'm sure,) I love that Bioware has allowed this mod and others. I love the modding section here. I love that I can still go get ME2 project files from the old BSN site.

And hey, great story overall. We care so much we keep putting time into this stuff. ;)

I do like how Bioware is mod friendly. I've got most of the mods I like for my games saved to my hard drive though. Don't want to risk losing them if sites ever do go down.

Well, I'd give BW all my material immediately, no questions asked (most of it is made with there assets anyway :)).

There are of course a number of problems that preclude another official ending DLC from ever happening, most of which have already been mentioned here:

1. Not commenting on any mods is a win-win situation for BW. The people who like the original endings don't have to care and some of those who did not have an alternative, so there is no need for them to act. On the other hand, taking any action from their perspective is a loose-loose. If they condemn the modding efforts, they anger fans for no reason and if they were to make a new DLC, they would just resurrect an issue that has largely been put to rest these days - not something any marketing department in their right mind will recommend.

2. While I personally am happy with the mod for now, it would be way, waaayyyy below BW's quality standards. They would have to remake the entire thing from scratch with their production values. Not necessarily a cheap thing to do.

3. When making these mods, we basically hack the game and force our code in (I think giftfish from the ThaneMOD team once put it very well: we beat the game with a stick until it does what we want it to do). This can introduce a whole lot of bugs (and we had them) and is generally not advisable, so again, they'd have to start from scratch using their tools. Not to mention that - as I wrote in my last post - the mod as it is will probably not run on consoles anyway.

There are probably a gazillion more reasons not to do anything remotely like this, not the least of which may very well be that they just don't want to.

I would of course be ecstatic if we could figure out how to make all those PC mods available on consoles but I don't see that happening and as other have said, I too am just happy that BW didn't shut us down from the get-go (something we were very much anticipating back in the days).

I do however have the hope that maybe, just maybe, BioWare will add some sort of modding support to ME Next. That would really make me happy. I think the chances for this actually happening are extremely low but - given how much the DA:I modding community has already achieved with that FB3 game - one can hope that they will eventually see the light. :) I will continue to mention it whenever I can. Maybe the more people do, the better our chances get.

WHich is why I'd hesitate to say Bioware is "mod firendly"  More like "mod not-unfriendly"

I highly doubt it.  MENext is supposed to be on Frostbite like DAI.  And that's supposed to be really, really hard to mod with.

That's what everyone said about UE3 games. ;)

Besides, judging from the number of mods that already exist for DA:I and from what I have seen of the modding tools that the community has already developed, I think it's about on par with UE3 as far as modding possibilities are concerned. It's just a question of what kind of tools the devs are willing to share. Now I know, there is more involved than just sharing the tolls, you do need to put a lot of effort into it if you want to be official. But even some unofficial help would be appreciated. Having a modding section is already a great step but it would be even better if for the next ME, we would sometimes get some hints on how we can do stuff or whatever (it did happen in very very rare cases for ME3, not for me but for others).

I just think that BW is underestimating the impact their community can have and a game with the structure such as ME is perfect for adding content if we would just get the means to do so.

Lots of work for them now of course but maybe in the future...Right now, it certainly doesn't hurt sales when people buy ME3 on PC to get mods at least.

The absolute best thing about the trilogy to me is they made it clear 1) no cannon ending and 2) the end of Shepard's story. Perfect. We can do what we want!

I'm not sure if this is really a BW thing. I have the impression that it is the publishers (all of them, pretty much. Not only EA), who don't want mod friendly games

-that could hurt sales of the next -basically the same- series instalment.

I don't see how, but ok

Wow, didn't realize there was a new release. I just upgraded to 0.5 and it looks really polished. Thanks to Mr Fob and team for working on this awesome mod.

Btw, I did the edits for heal face, change outfit, and restore hugging (with no LI) and the edits still work. Nice to just edit the files in the DLC_CON_MEHEM folder now instead of unpacking and repacking like before.

Usually I don't do this sort of thing but this is a special case so I want to make a quick post for a new mod on the horizon:

Deager presents: The ME3 Enhanced Dialogue Mod!!!!

Check out the video! Seriously, it's worth it.

Dear MrFob, would you like you share how to make a DLC, please? The post next door, aka "ME3 MOD: HighRes textures + Next-Gen illumination + 3D Fix." could use this DLC method to bypass Texmod.

Thanks. and thanks too for the MEHEM mod by the way. Salute.

With textures, that's a tall order. The reason is, an incredible amount of files change when textures are added. If you added all of smarteck's/freedy ag's textures you'd basically have to download all the files for the entire game. The best that can be done now is to install textures using this guide

http://me3explorer.f...uide-t1718.html

and for ME3, these textures are already formatted for this method

Thanks. I tried to install textures once and it corrupted the file I targeted. So I thought DLC might be easier and less risky for people.

I will try the installing method again. Hope Origin will not check the relevant file if I succeed. But perhaps I should buy a new HDD and copy the entire game first

In order for MEHEM to work properly, I need ME3 (the original version, not the pirated one), right? I'm only asking this because I'm about to buy the digital edition of it from Origin and I'd like to know if this one works well with this mod :)

I want to thank you for the recent update. I salute you for keeping us up-to-date, even if the game is three years old now. Just started the last one of the trilogy and read the message from Cpt. Fob. It gets me goosebumps and even tears me up a bit. It fits great into the story and the universe.

Keep up the good work. ;)

P.S.: I guess someone told you this before... there is a small typing error in the head of the mail. FROM: Cpt.Fob@SSVNürenberg ... Just an e, that sneak into it. ;)

@McRileyW: I see Deager already helped you out. Yea, as he said, in order to make a texture DLC mod, especially for those texture that are widely used in game, we'd basically have to put the entire game into a new DLC. It's not feasible, so Texplorer and TPFTools it is. As far as I know, KFreon is working on a new version of the tools, which will make it much more stable and bug free to install textures into the game.

@VFerreira93: Yes, that is correct. MEHEM works with the original version of the game from Origin. It is just important that - once you installed and updated the game to the latest version, you uncheck the checkbox at the "automatically keep my games up to date" line in the Origin Settings (as is stated in the installer and the readme).

Once that is done, install the mod and everything should work fine.

@Feyiama77: Thanks. The message from Cpt. Fob was actually written by frypen. :)

I really like it as well though, since the sentence that Shepard has many friends out there, s/he doesn't know about is a nice nod to all the fans that took part in the ending protest back in 2012 IMO.

Hi MrFob,

I will install version 0.5 soon.  I always use ME3 Explorer to fix my custom Shepard's face for the memorial scene.  Will I be able to use your previous method to do this are does 0.5 being a dlc now require a different method?

@eric2465: I haven't tried it myself but IIRC, someone reported that the method still works with MEHEM v0.5. Obviously, you now have to edit the file in the DLC_CON_MEHEM folder for the change to take effect but I think the actual edit is the same as before.

I finished ME3 a few minutes ago and I must say, it was damn beautiful, mostly because I had MEHEM installed (which worked perfectly)! I almost have no words to describe how I'm feeling right now T-T
Thank you, Mr. Fob. Thank you for taking the time and for all the work and effort you and your team put into this mod.
