So any news lately?

As far as I'm aware, I think there are plans for a new version of MEHEM after v0.5 or something.
I'm not completely sure, maybe I'm just getting crazy or something because I already love v0.5 a lot and would love to see what new things could be added to the mod itself

Not many news at the moment I am afraid. I am planning at least one more version but just didn't have the time to start on it for real yet.

If you see me post a lot on the general discussion boards, that usually means I have a lot of RL work (because during my work, I often have 5 minutes or so, where I just wait for stuff to happen before I can go on, enough to be bored, not enough to do anything useful so I'll write a post on BSN :)). Unfortunately, that also means that modding time is postponed because in order to do effective modding, I need to take long stretches of time in one go (as in: at least a whole day or two). Doing it in small pieces is very inefficient as I'd have to go back and re-understand my own changes again a lot.

The advantage is that, when I do get the time to mod again, things may move relatively quickly. I'll let you know when there's news.

Finally I have a gaming rig capable of undergoing the MAss Effect trilogy again, but I wouldn't even have conceived the idea if it weren't for MEHEM and CEM. Thank you MrFob as well as all the others that have made this mod possible, salvaging one of my favorite gaming experiences and making the final act not only endurable but also giving it some shades of quality as well.

I do have a question though, I Think it is relevant in this forum topic. I plan to mod my game further by giving my Shepard the same hair as Ashley would have (She died in ME1 though so there will be no duplicates in hairstyles). Is this possible without conflicts form MEHEM or CEM? I saw that there were steps to take if wanting to combine texture mods with MEHEM, but is a hairmod really a texture mod? I should probably read it anyway though since I have found instructions to modify my Femshep's skintone and other features through the gibbed save editor, so I'm posting a general question if these types of tweaks will conflict with the mods.

@Luddwise

Fob knows more than me on modding but changing hair with gibbed should cause no issue. Even modding files in the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO and BIOG_HMF_HED_PROMorph_R.pcc should have zero impact. I use custom hair for various Shep with these mods all the time.

Even if that change involves a texture, you still should be fine because you can also skip MEHEM and CEM on the treescan, even if there were a problem, but I don't think there will be.

@Luddwise: I don't know what exactly would be involved in doing something like that but, as Deager said, you may have several options for this:

1. If you can do it via Gibbed, than you are good and don't have to worry about any compatibility issues.

1. Make a mesh mod in BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO and BIOG_HMF_HED_PROMorph_R.pcc and add a texture mod texplorer. If you do that, make the mesh mod first, then install all mods (including MEHEM and CEM), then do a treescan and then apply the new texture. There is no need to skip MEHEM or CEM, they should work fine with the treescan, as long as you follow the instructions of this guide

2. If you want to go fancy, you could make this a DLC mod as described here. In this case, follow all the instructions in that tutorial to make your DLC mod, then install MEHEM and CEM, than do the treescan, then install all other texture you may want. This is the best option but it's only worth the time if you plan to distribute it or if you want to make it easy to use when trying to do other stuff to the game (it makes installing and uninstalling mods a lot easier).

In general, there are two rules to follow:

1. When you make a new mod, always make it, using the vanilla game. Do not have any other mods (including MEHEM, CEM or whatever) installed when fiddeling around with new stuff. Once your mod is finished and you know it works fine on it's own, you can go ahead and work out if there any compatibility issues and how to fix them.

2. When combing textures with other mods, the procedure is always the same:First, make/install all non-texture parts of your own mods and see if everything works -> Then install any other non-texture mods and DLC mods you want and see if everything plays nice together -> Once all of that works, run the treescan and install textures.

If you run into trouble with making the new mod or with compatibility, best post on the ME3Explorer forums. There are quite a few people over there who may be able to help with this sort of thing.

OK I can do all the Changes in Gibbed, so I guess I'm fine on that front. Does that mean I don't have to do the treescan either since I work solely out of Gibbed and don't have any mods besides MEHEM, CEM and transition?

Yeah, if Gibbed got you what you wanted and you're not installing textures or anything, you are ready to play. No need for a treescan. And I know we have our PMs back and forth to try and solve this CEM Full vC issue.

I just found this and saw it on YouTube. This is awesom. Incredible.

After finishing ME3 back in the days I never touched anything from BioWare again. I was just too mad at them. I did not buy a single DLC or another game. And now I sumbled over this pice of gold... thank you for this mod. I won't install it or play this game again, but seeing it on YouTube was such a relief. Finally an ending which I can live with (and imagine all those little blue children). Thank you again sir, you did well!

This is kind of a totally random question... I remember a while back hearing about the possibility of an HD remake of the Mass Effect trilogy for the current generation of consoles.  I would imagine that would also include a PC version of the remake as well.

My question is this: would this completely screw up mods like MEHEM?  Would MEHEM's videos need to be completely remade using the HD video footage?

It would be nice for Bioware to possibly give some support to the modding community if they do eventually decide to produce an HD remake, but I am not getting my hopes up about it.

(And I realize this is all just pure speculation at this point... this was just something that was on my mind, and I was just curious about what this forum thought about it.)

If they did just a high resolution texture update, that shouldn't cause a problem. Kind of like Skyrim's HD pack. But, if they move it to a new engine...the mods won't work. I can't see them working anyway.

We'll wait for E3 to see what really is going on. Seems like a lot of effort to move to a new game engine but if it can generate income and is easier than I think it is, I suppose, why not?

EDIT: If they do move it...I can dream, modding tools. I highly doubt it. But man, I would love modding tools if they release an HD version. I also understand how annoying that can be for a publisher so I'm not expecting it but dang, the MEHEM downloads, over time, have been quite substantial. Selfishly, I just want to party and stuff after the credits. :)

I highly doubt a remaster would come on PC since 99% of remaster for XOne/PS4 are jsute the same game running in native 1080P (& sometimes 60fps, not always). Since The whole ME trilogy can run on PC in native 1080p & 60fps ... And when you think ME1 & 3 have mod with 4k texture... XD

I don't know what they were thinking using that generic "elevator music" pulled from Kasumi's ME2 mission.

I was wondering...Can the Me2 model of Harbinger be added? It was far more unique.

Does anyone use MEHEM on a PC running Windows 8?  My current PC is Win 7 but I am wondering what will happen if I get a new system that has Win 8.

Thanks,

Hold the wire. Don't do win8. Win10 is right around the corner, and the upgrade for win7 and 8 users is free. Use the money for the win 8 OS to instead buy a Wii u or something

@The Twilight God: I was thinking of three things:

1. I needed a piece of music that would fit the tension of the scene, that was generic enough to work with the scenes and that had the right length to fit in

2. I really like that track. :P

3. There is always the option to choose Julia's OST or even to insert your own, using ME3Explorer.

@Gurluas: Never looked into ti. The only detailed ME2 model of Harby, that I know is from Arrival and that's the hologram one. While mesh imports are theoretically possible, it may be a huge effort to recreate the materials and textures for a proper non-hologram Harby in ME3. So I'm afraid that's not on the agenda.

@eric2465: While I am still a win7 user as well (and kinda would agree with cfs3corsair, you may be better off waiting for 10), I don't think win8 is going to do anything to MEHEM. The mod works completely within the framework of the game so as long as you can run ME3, you should be able to run the mod. The only thing that might happen is that some virus scanners apparently don't ike the script language we use for our installers, so if you get a new virus scanner, you may have to add the installer as an exception.

Thanks Cfs3corsair and Fob. I don't intend to upgrade to Win 8 I actually prefer Win 7. I just wanted to be sure I wouldn't have a problem using MEHEM if I got A new PC with 8 in a year. Probably be Win 10 by then anyway. I just want to have MEHEM working no matter what.

I just updated to 5.0 and I love it!

Thanks again.

This post maybe too long and it might not be the right place to drop it, but I just had to write this down. Sorry, but my english is not rocksolid and talking about stuff like this is not easy in a foreign language.

To every single person who worked on MEHEM and helped to make it happen:

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! When I finished ME3 on sunday for the first time with the MEHEM (second time over all), it was simply amazing. I again had a feeling, I haven't had for years!

I played the first ME right after its release. From the first moments on I knew, that this is going to be one of the best games I will ever play. After finishing ME1 for about 10 times, I was super excited for Part 2. And I even liked it more than the first part and I stopped counting how often I played it. The way the game focused on the story and the development of its charakters totally got me. A friend of mine also became a big fan of the ME games. We had hours of talks and discussions about stuff like:
Which class (Soldier, Vanguard, etc) is the most fun?
Who is the most interesting charakter for a romance?
Is it better to live as long as the Asari do or is a short human life overall more intense?
Is the genophage right or wrong?
How close is Legion and the structure of the Geth to human beings? I remember this conversation went on for about 4 hours and it was one the best evenings I had in my life.
I could go on for pages...

Of course I preordered ME3. I was never committed to a game like this before. But when I reached the end, the only thing I remember is emptyness...
In the first moments I wasn't mad, I wasn't disappointed... I just couldn't understand how someone can end such a huge and deep universe with such a lame and not-thought-through outcome. I remember just lying in my bed and feeling nothing. Which is in my opinion even worse than anything else.
But the anger and the disappointment came over the next days.
In fact I was so disappointed that I stopped playing videogames for over 8 months. And be honest videogames always played a important role in my freetime (besides sport and reading).
Then I came across "To the moon" on coincidence (if you haven't played, do it). I can't tell why I didn't notice this game for such a long time, because that is just the way i like videogames. But I was just not interested in videogames anymore after ME3. I didn't play any and I didn't follow the things that happened in the world of gaming like the release of new games. "To the moon" brought back the fun for me to let myself fall into a good story and spending hours thinking about it. This was 2,5 years ago.

Despite what is going to follow now, I want to add that I will probably never play any Bioware/EA-game. Since they also screwed up DA2 imo. And I'm not keen to try DA:I.

So three months ago I heard about MEHEM. Although I stared to play other videogames again, I ignored ME and Bioware since finishing ME3 in 2012. I decided to give the MEHEM a chance. I started with a new Shepard in ME1 and played the whole trilogy. I took my time and enjoyed it bit by bit. This time with the MEHEM on ME3. By the way beside the original ending, there is still sooooooo much potential in ME3 that haven't been used by Bioware, but that's a different topic.
After the MEHEM-ending (which was already f****** awesome) I played the Citadel DLC, which I haven't played so far. I knew hardly anything about this DLC, just that there is a good party before you are supposed to play the Bioware-Ending. For me this was the best decision I could make!

For me it felt like a perfekt epilog with a funny and positive but still thoughful storytelling that is needed after the dark and depressing ME3. It has the length a trilogy this big needs! Not a crappy 5 minute conversion with a sparkly weirdo + three different instagram colourfilters. I honestly think that it was one of the possible ending Bioware had when starting the series. I don't have a problem with Shepard dying in the original ending but the way it was executed is pathetic!
At the end of the Citadel DLC where they meet again in the morning after the party at the dock and walk away separeted but still bonded forever is perfect! But only in combination with the MEHEM before it. Otherwise it's worthless for me. After that, I was happy, satisfied and simply amazed by this big and epic story I was allowed to be part of. I had this special feeling an awesome videogame can give you when you finish it.

It felt like finishing To the moon, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Secret of Evermore and Lufia 2 (yes SNES Kid over here).

Thank you to everyone who was/is part of the MEHEM-project! You changed the point of the story that ends the trilogy with the spirit it's all about!

If we ever meet in person, which sadly is probably never going to happen, expect a manly bro-hug, beers on me ;-) and hours of exchanging thoughts. Because in the end the people matter we walk along with and the thoughts and feelings we have and share with them.
Fergueson, out

I'm on Windows 8.1 and both Mass Effect 3 and the MEHEM run perfectly on it.

Windows 8, especially with a start menu added by the likes of Classic Shell, isn't the horror that people make it out to be.

That being said I do have to agree that it makes more sense to wait for Windows 10 to come out and get the upgrade to that, or a new system with it on.

ok i am running into a problem, after downloading the 5 version it just won't work, it keeps saying not found so i guess i can't upgrade from version 4, never before had this problem. hmm odd, seems that my zip version had been corrupted and that was giving me the errors, switched it right and i can read the file again, phew.
