Yea, MEHEM is not for everyone (or for every play through either). I haven't seen these movies, seen the forum threads about them but I am playing the game right now, so I get my ME fix straight up.
Great kudos just for the effort though. I just made a little 5 min tribute video for ME1 once and that took me forever to get together. Can't imagine how much time and effort it would take to make a feature length movie out if this.
The 2 guys (so far) who have done it put in a lot of work. Must have recorded one or more entire play-throughs to get the vids they used (though cut scenes are available in bulk on youtube). I use the vids in trying to get a family member interested in the game.
I didn't care for the LI choices either but I give kudos to both for picking Ashley over Kaiden on Virmire :-). One of the versions for ME3 uses destroy ending (not sure which at this point) and makes it a little different from original in some way - I'll see if/when I get there. MOST of the combat is cut out (not a bad choice) but I think they needed to keep some in to get the right flavor of the game and the threat. Not seeking to drift this thread off-topic so I'll leave it at this: my own choice would have been to keep a handful of fights in the vid, for instance, on Mars (the first one where you come across Cerberus executing a few prisoners, the out-gassed room with all the dead in it, plus the fight afterwards, perhaps one more. The vids make it seem like there very little obstacles to get to the endpoint of a given mission.
As for the games, I have restarted an ME1 play-through with intent to slog through the whole series again at a somewhat leisure pace - and definitely need to get your latest MEHEM installed. Also really need to try and finish a couple other mesh mods I've had sitting idle for a while (reskinning/re-hairing EDI, changing Allers to someone totally different and more pleasant to look at).
