What continues to mystify me is Bioware's apparent refusal to consider the business case for supporting an active modding community - at a minimum, a cost-effective way of keeping the game alive & with a bit of imaginative packaging and marketing a nice little self-supporting profit center - with the ME team now officially disbanded, that is practically a requirement.

Considering Bethesda still sells copies of Morrowind (a game from 2002) because of mods like the "Morrowind Graphics and Sound Overhaul", and Skyrim did startling numbers on the PC mostly because of the modding community not releasing a mod kit does make sense no matter how user unfreindly it may be.

Heck, that's the only reason I bought Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition, on PC, after I already bought it (and all individual DLCs) on the xbox.  As it stands, the modding community on here is already making me wish I had the trilogy on PC.  (If the user who posted earlier on this page get s the DLC CD working, hopefully I won't have to)    But a modkit would only help sustain the series.

No, you're not. Not releasing a mod kit  on the other hand...

yeah, I know they've said this ... can only wish they've said it with the same conviction as the following...

Mac Walters :
"I'm always leery of saying there are 'optimal' endings, because I think one of the things we do try to do is make different endings that are optimal for different people "

Mike Gamble:
"...[the fans] are crafting your Mass Effect story as much as we are anyway."

"There are many different endings. ... How could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets?"

"Because a lot of these plot threads are concluding and because it's being brought to a finale, since you were a part of architecting how they got to how they were, you will definitely sense how they close was because of the decisions you made and because of the decisions you didn't make"

Casey Hudson:
"Fans want to make sure that they see things resolved, they want to get some closure, a great ending. I think they're going to get that."

"…at this point, I think we're co-creators with the fans. We use a lot of feedback."

"...This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different. .... It's not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A,  B or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them."

"We have a rule in our franchise that there is no canon. You as a player decide what your story is."

...and just a gentle reminder of why we're all committed to this and other mods, anyway...

I have added a link to my installer's source code in my original MEHEM Installer post (linked from this thread's original post). Curious and/or suspicious folk are welcome to give it a look.

just used the installer for MEHEM, works fine. Though I came across the EDI flashback, though EDI showed up at the end with her name not on the board. Not sure if anyone else has had it? It's not a big deal, really. But now I can play again, such a good bittersweet feeling and not an empty bitter feeling now.

I'm glad you mentioned that.  I've never seen that EDI slide. I saw that MrFob had a hotfix for it, but since I've never seen the slide, I just assumed that it was already fixed.  In other words, I never applied the EDI fix when creating the installer, believing it was unnecessary.

I assume MrFob will incorporate the EDI hotfix into v03, and when I update the installer for v03, things will work themselves out.  If it turns out that v03 is still a long way off, I'll go ahead and re-build the installer to incorporate the EDI fix.  Note that it takes me a really long time to upload a 250MB file to my web server, so I'd like to avoid this if possible.

Also, would someone tell me what one has to do to get the dead-EDI slide to appear in-game? ie what game decisions you have to make?

I guess I should also mention that the music timing got to be a bit off. The Suicide Mission played well into the ending where you see the ships leaving Earth. That could just be due to my cat running all over my keyboard and minimizing the game..

edit: Also, from what I've seen when Joker is flying away, it's the new one from the EC. I got the one where he's freaking out and the Normandy looks like it blew up.

On an unrelated note: MrFob, is there any way you can make the Shepard-Anderson-Illusive Man scene (on Return to the Citadel) skippable like regular dialogue? It would sure make debugging MEHEM quicker. I've had to sit through that scene at least a dozen times - I'm sure you've had to watch it way more than that.

That would take a while. Every dialog line has a property called "IsSkippable" or "IsUnskippable". It would need to be changed for every line in the conversation.

What I do is keep various AutoSaves. When the game saves after TIM's death, Alt-Tab out then copy the AutoSave.pcsav file out to a folder.
I actually have a bunch from Priority: Earth and the Citadel and I just put them in folders such as "FOB Start", "Beam Rush", "Open the Arms", etc. Then you can copy those over the AutoSave in the save directory, and load.

It might very well be that...my bugger can behave himself concerning that...

About the latter, and I'm sorry if I am misinterpreting there: when did you see those scenes? Did you go into the finale with minimal assets gathered, thus get the old scene of the Normandy bridge going up in flames twice, both the modded one with oculus-footage from ME2 and the original one after the Crucible's energy is being dispersed throughout the galaxy? Or do you get the vanilla sequence in the first half?
If it is the very last, you may want to check the EC-sfar file via DLC Explorer again as to whether MEHEM's files for that are inserted. Or even the main-game files, although usually if those get replaced by Origin with the original the default appears to be that the game crashes, as reported by others here.

For reference, here's footage of MEHEM's sequence:

You do that, and you would be a champ indeed. Certain that many 'boxers would appreciate that.

About the update, it was really business as usual for me, with backups in place just in case and all. 'course, did remind me that I had that ME3-project I should still get behind again at some point...

It could be that I loaded up an old save and just started right before the beam, but iirc, that save had nearly 7000 EMS by the end.  But I got  the old scene of the Normandy bridge going up in flames. The installer that I used may not have worked properly.  I'll start up from London again, see if it does the same thing another day...I got into a debate over synthesis with a friend and now I'm all irritated over the endings again...

But referencing to that video, I don't think I got any of those scenes outside of Coates shooting at the husks, but now I can't remember.  Perhaps I could record it and show you what happened.

When the installer was finished, did the second-to-last line of the log (green text) say "MEHEM Installation successful!"? or "MEHEM Installation Failed!"?

it said succesful, I got the memorial scene with Shepard and crew.  I'd have to go back and double check.  It could be that I just started from a strange spot, since I got the original Normandy fleeing scene with Joker freaking out and flames everywhere, as well as the Suicide Mission song overlapping with where Hackett's speech starts.

Huh.   You said you used an old save from right before the beam. Is it possible you didn't have the EC DLC installed on that save? The EC DLC has to be installed prior to the attack on Cerberus HQ for MEHEM to work.

If all else fails you can always run the uninstaller to restore your original ME3 files, then download MrFob's manuall installation and follow the instructions. As much as I might try, I probably won't be able to get the installer to work for everybody.

no, EC is definitely installed on that. I got the strange wakeup thing Shepard only does when she's tossed onto the Citadel from the beam. Could just be the strange starting point, I'll start from the HQ sometime.

@MrFob, I just finished my second mass effect 3 playthrough with this mod and just wanted to say....thank you. I know you get that from many people but i just wanted to let you know that you saved the series for me. And yes, it was my second playthrough because after the first one i was too disappointed to ever pick it up again after what bioware did to commander shepard. This is now my shepards' ending all because of you. Thank you so much! My brother is waiting to try it out, he to was disappointed and became insanely excited when i showed him this mod. He's hoping miranda can be one of the options for the hugging scene at the end. I told him your working on it and making progress. We're behind you Mr.Fob!

Also, just a rant here, but after playing this mod I have to wonder.....What was so hard for bioware not to include an ending like this as an option? Seriously, not like they haven't done it before.....I guess we will never know.

And thank you Wavion for a great installer! Many thanks for your hard work!

I did have one small idea. At the end when shepard is placing Anderson's name plate on the memorial, after he removes his hands there is a good 4 or 5 seconds before hearing hackett's voice. I was wondering if it was possible to put in anderson's death slide during that time span for an added effect. Before the memorial scene when hackett is explaining the ones who made sacrifices, i only saw mordins', thanes', and legions' death slide before the picture of shepard's helmet, but not anderson. (at least that how it was for me, unless other people also saw anderson's death slide during that time). Anyway, just an idea. Keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to future updates!

I found this link in another forum and thought I share it. Me being a seinfeld fan, I loved what the user created. Enjoy!

I will probably not play the mod, for I was more or less done with SP since my very first playthrough which finished in March. But I watched the videos of both of your ending mods and frankly, it gets away from cyclic logic that Bioware gave. OP, you are a very nice person for going this far and making this mod. Thank you!

@RZIBARA Sadly, there is no way to have this mod for the 360 currently. However, a particular commenter (I believe on page 92... give or take a page) said that he knows how to mod xbox files and when this mod reaches its final stage he will make it available for the 360. So you can hope, we will see
@McBlade223
Well said. Thats all I gotta say, you said it all :)

Are you seeing a blocky green guy giving you the finger?  That's ignignokt, my no hotlinking image, but it shouldn't appear when linked from any bioware page (including the forums).  It will also allow null referrers, meaning if you paste the link directly into the address bar and hit enter, it should work (you might have to reload though).
