This has honestly been on hold since Fob went on "vacation" for his job.
When he comes back some new updates might come.
On that note, greetings from Australia! Sorry for not posting for the last week but I was in transit. Now I am back and as soon as I get rid of my jet-lag and get a few things organized I'll finally be able to get back to v0.3.
Also, I should be able to post much more regularly from now on so that not every single one of my posts hast to start with "sorry I didn't post"

.
Now, while checking this thread for everything that has appened, I realized some pretty exciting stuff.
@Exeider: That sounds incredible. I am really surprised about these news because I was under the impression that xbox material is encoded differently than pc data (big endian vs. little endian). I can't really get into that since I don't even ahve a xbox but if you can get that to work, I am sure the community (at least those who are into mods) will give you a medal. If you haven't done so already, you should definitely head over to the ME3Explorer forums and open a new thread there. This could be really interesting and I am sure there would be some people over there who'd be very interested in any news on this and who could potentially collaborate/help.
@cfs3corsair: I assume you are "TimeSpaceRamblings" on youtube? Again, thanks heaps for answering all these questions people had in the comments over there, especially in the time I wasn't around much. Good to see you found your way here since the thread is much better for communication than the yt comment section.
@wavion: Sorry about the whole mess with the links and the yt video description. In fact, we already have
a mirror for the installer available, courtesy of masseffectsaves.com. Thanks heaps for hosting it! I'll change the link on the yt page right away.
Now, about the LI scenes: Here is my (preliminary) plan: Provided that I finally get the pmcheckstates to work properly (i.e. that we can get the game to recognize your LI at the right time to play different videos), I'll implement some very short scenes for Miranda and Jack in the main version (that will be the main goal for v0.3). As for the other LIs, my suggestion would be that I implement the variables in a way that the game is already set up to display different videos for each one but in the base version, all these videos will still be the stargazer scene (so effectively you want see any change in the game). However, since it will already be set up, it should be easy to provide "LI packages" that can be installed on top of the base version to get videos for the LIs. I think it's best if the fans of each character come up with whatever they want to put in there because they'll probably be the ones to spend the most effort and come up with the most impressive results. Please note: That all hinges on the fact that I can get this to work in the first place, which is by no means certain at this point. I think I have a pretty good plan on how to implement this but I haven't tested it and I am not sure what kind of bumps I'll encounter on the way.
If and when I get the pmchecks to work, I really want to look into the EMS situation. My idea there would be that the good ending with the memorial scene will happen only with very high EMS. Medium EMS will give you a scenario where the reapers are still defeated but the lower EMS slides show and Shep is dead. Lpw EMS will rout you into a modified version of the old refusal ending.
But again, these are rather long term plans. Please don't expect this to happen within the next couple of weeks. We are talking of a timeframe of months, how many is hard to say until I get into the specifics.
@McBlade223: Thanks. Putting Anderson's slide in at that point is tricky though. It's no problem changing videos that are already there, putting completely new ones in places where there are non before is a whole lot more difficult (in fact, I wouldn't really know how to do it at this point). Also, Anderson's death slide is being used already within MEHEM. It's part of the "EDI slide hotfix" where it replaces EDI's flashback slide during the epilogue. So there is a chance for you to see it in MEHEM.
@Lucas1987Dion: Multilaguage version is planned as soon as we "finalize" the videos. We might still do some re-edits there.
@3DandBeyond: I use xfire for capturing and then use virtualdub for processing and to adjust framerates. I have some issues with this though. While I could correct for the sound offset most of the time, for some reason it didn't work on my last couple of recordings (e.g. the v0.2 yt video). Not sure why. Also, the videos do tend to get a little choppy at times. The advantage is that it's all free so maybe it's a good start for testing out things.
Oh, speaking of videos: I have a question for you guys: I saw a couple of comments on youtube, asking for HD versions of the in game videos. However, when I extract the .bik videos from the game, they are all in 1270x820 pixel resolution. I edit them and extract them at the same resolution and put them back into the game (I do have to go through a rather weird procedure of reformatting before RADTools will re-encode them to bik format though). So in principle, they should be HD in game. Personally I don't really see a difference in game between my videos and the originals but I am not very good at detecting this kind of stuff anyway. SO here is my question: Do you guys notice bad quality in the new videos and if so, is it low resolution or something else? Would be interesting for me to know because maybe I can somehow improve the reformatting process. Cheers!
Ok, well, sorry for that huge wall of text but things have been accumulating a bit. Hopefully I'll be able to post shorter but more often from now on.
