Ok reloading works, but thats the only way it does. Not trying to be picky or critical, but Im sure many people won't realize what to do in order to get it to work. Is there any way to make it easier for people to understand what to do? Of course, if the "reload" info is simply put into the mehem v0.2 description that will work too...

Well, that's the thing. It never should have happened. I'm waiting for someone else to tell me they saw the image instead of getting the download. No one else has, and it has been downloaded over 500 times.  If I get more reports of the problem, I will do away with the hotlinking protection, but understand that this is my bandwith and it's a 250 megabyte file - I'm trying to limit the downloads to people who come to this thread only. I've already donated 122 gigabytes of bandwidth to the cause.

Understandable, and I commend you for using your own server. That being said, I originally investigated this problem because a youtube viewer of the mehem v0.2 mod was having the issue. They had clicked on the link in the MEHEM v0.2 description, presumably, and encountered the hotlink protection. Quote "why do i cant download the installer? ^^ there is just some thing telling me do u see that hotlink? thats it help pls. i really appreciate your work there !" Anyway, it appears to be a problem linked to hotlinking from youtube.

ok thats fair enough. But then why have the link on youtube? May be best for everyone if the link was changed to the forum, I dunno

I didn't realize he had done that. I wanted to make sure that people that were downloading my installer were first reading MrFob's description/instructions in this thread. I was hoping that MrFob would rehost the file along with his manual installation, and just leave my link as a mirror.

Ah now it makes sense. Good because I was a little confused haha
so the way I see it there are 4 options
1: remove the link from youtube entirely
2: instead change the link so it leads to the forum
3: post the installer on some other server.
4: do the mirror thing like you said
Course it's your installer Im not dictating, just trying to offer ideas

Well, I would definitely like to see #3/4. That video has over 100000 views. I can't handle that many downloads. All it would take is for some game review website to feature MEHEM, and boom, my server'd be down, and I'd be in trouble.

And I have no control over the youtube page, or anything else for that matter. This is MrFob's baby. All I did was package it up.

Yeah know what you mean, and it will happen. PC gamer did a few months ago, and when this mod is completed many more probably will. The internet will go nuts :P
Maybe you and Mr Fob should talk this over and figure out what to do before that happens haha

I will temporarily allow access to youtube, so as to not confuse the people there. But, MrFob, I'd like to get that link off there asap. We need to find a new home for the file.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread at all.

What plans do you guys have for MEHEM at the moment? At least besides fixing some bugs?

This has honestly been on hold since Fob went on "vacation" for his job.

When he comes back some new updates might come.

---

Hopefully he continues to stay on the idea of, "base package" and lots of detail stuff sort of falls under the umbrella as optional content.

@RZIBARA Sadly, there is no way to have this mod for the 360 currently. However, a particular commenter (I believe on page 92... give or take a page) said that he knows how to mod xbox files and when this mod reaches its final stage he will make it available for the 360. So you can hope, we will see
@McBlade223
Well said. Thats all I gotta say, you said it all :)

Hey just wanted to once again say this is fantastic. Also, I know off topic but for video capturing PC content, what do you all recommend. I'm thinking at some point I'd like to capture the things I really like from my game, but don't know how to do that. I've done a lot of video capture from video camera and even other sources but never when playing a PC game.

fraps is probably the most common program; there is a free and paid version. Free limits you to 30 seconds per capture, and a tiny watermark at the top. Bandicam lets you do much longer under the free version; but the watermark is bigger. The best is probably the paid version of fraps.

Thanks, a very heartfelt thanks! Already the MEHEM trailer gave me back that sense of closure which I was so much missing.
I still don't like the plot lines of ME3, but at least I have now some closure. And good music :)

On that note, greetings from Australia! Sorry for not posting for the last week but I was in transit. Now I am back and as soon as I get rid of my jet-lag and get a few things organized I'll finally be able to get back to v0.3.
Also, I should be able to post much more regularly from now on so that not every single one of my posts hast to start with "sorry I didn't post" :).

Now, while checking this thread for everything that has appened, I realized some pretty exciting stuff.

@Exeider: That sounds incredible. I am really surprised about these news because I was under the impression that xbox material is encoded differently than pc data (big endian vs. little endian). I can't really get into that since I don't even ahve a xbox but if you can get that to work, I am sure the community (at least those who are into mods) will give you a medal. If you haven't done so already, you should definitely head over to the ME3Explorer forums and open a new thread there. This could be really interesting and I am sure there would be some people over there who'd be very interested in any news on this and who could potentially collaborate/help.

@cfs3corsair: I assume you are "TimeSpaceRamblings" on youtube? Again, thanks heaps for answering all these questions people had in the comments over there, especially in the time I wasn't around much. Good to see you found your way here since the thread is much better for communication than the yt comment section.

@wavion: Sorry about the whole mess with the links and the yt video description. In fact, we already have a mirror for the installer available, courtesy of masseffectsaves.com. Thanks heaps for hosting it! I'll change the link on the yt page right away.

Now, about the LI scenes: Here is my (preliminary) plan: Provided that I finally get the pmcheckstates to work properly (i.e. that we can get the game to recognize your LI at the right time to play different videos), I'll implement some very short scenes for Miranda and Jack in the main version (that will be the main goal for v0.3). As for the other LIs, my suggestion would be that I implement the variables in a way that the game is already set up to display different videos for each one but in the base version, all these videos will still be the stargazer scene (so effectively you want see any change in the game). However, since it will already be set up, it should be easy to provide "LI packages" that can be installed on top of the base version to get videos for the LIs. I think it's best if the fans of each character come up with whatever they want to put in there because they'll probably be the ones to spend the most effort and come up with the most impressive results. Please note: That all hinges on the fact that I can get this to work in the first place, which is by no means certain at this point. I think I have a pretty good plan on how to implement this but I haven't tested it and I am not sure what kind of bumps I'll encounter on the way.
If and when I get the pmchecks to work, I really want to look into the EMS situation. My idea there would be that the good ending with the memorial scene will happen only with very high EMS. Medium EMS will give you a scenario where the reapers are still defeated but the lower EMS slides show and Shep is dead. Lpw EMS will rout you into a modified version of the old refusal ending.
But again, these are rather long term plans. Please don't expect this to happen within the next couple of weeks. We are talking of a timeframe of months, how many is hard to say until I get into the specifics.

@McBlade223: Thanks. Putting Anderson's slide in at that point is tricky though. It's no problem changing videos that are already there, putting completely new ones in places where there are non before is a whole lot more difficult (in fact, I wouldn't really know how to do it at this point). Also, Anderson's death slide is being used already within MEHEM. It's part of the "EDI slide hotfix" where it replaces EDI's flashback slide during the epilogue. So there is a chance for you to see it in MEHEM.

@Lucas1987Dion: Multilaguage version is planned as soon as we "finalize" the videos. We might still do some re-edits there.

@3DandBeyond: I use xfire for capturing and then use virtualdub for processing and to adjust framerates. I have some issues with this though. While I could correct for the sound offset most of the time, for some reason it didn't work on my last couple of recordings (e.g. the v0.2 yt video). Not sure why. Also, the videos do tend to get a little choppy at times. The advantage is that it's all free so maybe it's a good start for testing out things.

Oh, speaking of videos: I have a question for you guys: I saw a couple of comments on youtube, asking for HD versions of the in game videos. However, when I extract the .bik videos from the game, they are all in 1270x820 pixel resolution. I edit them and extract them at the same resolution and put them back into the game (I do have to go through a rather weird procedure of reformatting before RADTools will re-encode them to bik format though). So in principle, they should be HD in game. Personally I don't really see a difference in game between my videos and the originals but I am not very good at detecting this kind of stuff anyway. SO here is my question: Do you guys notice bad quality in the new videos and if so, is it low resolution or something else? Would be interesting for me to know because maybe I can somehow improve the reformatting process. Cheers!

Ok, well, sorry for that huge wall of text but things have been accumulating a bit. Hopefully I'll be able to post shorter but more often from now on.

@ MrFob

I don't think there is any difference in resolution between your videos and Bioware's originals. Most likely, people notice a difference in resolution between the video and normal gameplay. On a PC there are options for much higher in-game resolutions than the pre-rendered scenes.

Or maybe tears of joy are making everything look blurrier.;)

you assume correct, I am TimeSpaceRamblings. And hey no problem about answering the comments, its nice to see what ideas the fans come up with over there. And yes I am glad I found this thread, much easier to check out whats going on with the mod here :)
About the low quality videos. I plugged my laptop into my 38" LCD HD TV and replayed the ending of ME3 to complete my second playthrough... and of course I had MEHEM v0.2 installed by now. I remember that the ending vids were pixalated to some degree, maybe more than the original Bioware ones. Kinda like watching a youtube vid. Then again, I haven't watched the original Bioware videos for a long time, because they were eyesores, earsores, and heartsores for me :P But the MEHEM vid quality was not bad enough to elicit any complaints from me, its not like it was painful to watch or anything :)

It's a shame Bioware aren't as dedicated to the fans need for an alternate ending option as you are OP. I mean the other RGB options are fine but the game NEEDS a MEHEM as well.

Choice is key in an RPG and i strongly believe Bioware robbed the fans who made the right choices throughout the trilogy. What i mean by that is, whoever got their Shep to unite all the races and have all war assets full should be able to get a happy ending.

Ok, thanks guys. Well, as I said, I had to do some really weird things in order to get these videos reformatted. And if you say it's a bit like watching a yt vid, that actually makes perfect sense because I am using a really weird procedure to get my edited vids back into the game, see the fifth post on this page.
Any help and/or info on this is welcome.

Perhaps you could release the raw videos when they are closer to completion. Someone else might have a different conversion technique/program.
