because this is a user to user support forum not a bioware support forum, the odd bioware staff member will respond once in a blue moon but generally only when someone pm's them about a topic.
as for the problem its actually very simple, origin isnt windows certified, it fails the networking component of ms certification on all operating systems, EA has also spectacularly Failed unilaterally to contact security software creators to provide samples of there program and request there taken off the auto block list.
had they achieved ms certification on Origin then none of this would be a problem, however because this is there first foray into the world of all in one gaming platforms (ala steam) there on a learning curve that's far steeper than they would like, Ea has acknowledged that there origin platform and the mini updates they provided ot other platforms for certain games have a serious flaw in them, what there not saying is they suspect its a problem created buy the storm knocking out half of the east coast internet equipment.
what i think however is its far more mundane,
i think its a networking issue with origin that causeing it to fail the connectivity checks because its tryign ot use an ipv6 connection, i believe that this is also the case wiht all the other platforms/games that arre suffering the same problem, especially since it only started happening after they "put mini net code updates" on all platforms the other week, thease were updates that are getting ready for the release of the next gen of consoles and of course the fully ipv6 compliant internet.
unfortunatly a lot of people have an older router and (as its defaulted to) ipv6 disabled in windows, or they didnt install the ipv 6>4 /ipv4>6.
i had the exact same issue 12 months ago with evreything, one pc worked perfectly the other refused ot even gain internet conectivity
after much searrching i finally found the problem was in the ethernet adapter because i had manually installed one pc and defulat installed the one wiht the problem (my router is ipv6 native) all because ipv6 got switched on globally and my isp was insrumental in helping me pinpoint the problem.
i rather suspect that another problem will be people havent updated there OS because theres a problem wiht rwin/autotune that was fixed via one of the many updates on vista/7
not to mention of course the fact that those who dont "tweak/customize there osprobably never came across articles such as this
http://www.speedguid...weaks-2574/p-2/
which has under ECN a small note about how EA games doesnt support ECN and people wont be able ot login to EA games (this includes origin)
which has far more to do wiht peoples problem than anything else, win7 x64 sp1 defaults to having ecn disabled but vanilla defaulted to enabled (which caused problems of all sorts) in addition having the autotune set to anything other than normal can cause problems as will leaving the default congestion provider at none instead of switching ot ctcp
stupid things that EA should be aware of but for some obscurre reason arnt
