It satisfies those who wanted a conventional, boom-boom happy ending. Let's not go any further than that.

Because maybe MEHEM, as good of an effort as it is, is not what they wanted in their story.
Interesting mod and I appercaite the effort, but I have no plans to use it.

Their story, not yours. I thought the endings were fine and I loved Extended Cut.
There is a lot more to this fanbase than simply people who hate the endings. Please don't assume 3 Million + people think just like you do.

I made choices you never did, but we still followed the same story. If you're going to complain about the endings, why not complain about everything else? If it's My Story, what if I didn't want to be Shepard, what if I just wanted to be a geth that bones everything or some stupid crap?

right I am Sorry, Bioware is just better off hiring people with NO writing background then giving them the reigns of their flagship franchise after minimal experience on the base of friendship with the PD, causing the latgest backlash in gaming history, veiledly calling the majority of fans too dumb to understand, lie to them, backhandedly apologize to them and then go into hiding after throwing them a bone in the midsts of veiled and not so veiled middle fingers.
wow....you are so wise

You realize Casey Hudson and Mac Walters have been part of Bioware for years, they directed and wrote a majority of Mass Effect as a whole, nor did I ever say they should hire people with no background in story or writing. They never called you dumb and never gave you a middle finger.
Did they say they were surprised you didn't understand their story? sure, I suppose. Did they say the reaction was not expected? Sure, I suppose, but if they were truly hateful, pretentious people, they would have never cared.
They would have not made Extended Cut, they would have not spent manpower and man hours on what at that point, could have been a dead series, to give you a free DLC to explain their endings better and satisfy you. They put effort in where other developers problaby would not have.
A truly hateful, pretentious person, says you don't understand or ignores you, and leaves it at that. They don't make an unscheudled free DLC for you and others, which was only made due to backlash and demand.

And saying how "a small team of modders did what the professional writers could not" isn't really fair to them (the writers). Stripping a couple of .. shall we say, unsatisfying scenes off the ending and tinkering with a couple of others doesn't make it original work. Now I don't have a problem with that, I just disagree with that statement.

It really is disgraceful that a small team of modders could do what professional writers could not; provide a satisfying ending with thematic and narrative consistency to the rest of the series. Sure, it may be a bit "Hollywood", but at least it works a damn sight better than the actual game.

That dkes nit even touch their lies and the god awful lazy writing and the lovely f.u. given to the Destroy people and the refuse ending which is nkt even an ending in itself or their lies about MP not being needed (Do not even begin to defend them about that one)Doommarine23 wrote...
I rather they do their work and their story, instead of trying to please everyone. You bought a ticket to a show, not a commission personally wrapped for you.

Gotta love how everybody who criticises this is basically saying that we're not allowed to call the ending rubbish because it's "their [Bioware's] story". Yes, it is essentially their ending at the end of the day, but that doesn't mean it's not complete horse-manure.
It really is disgraceful that a small team of modders could do what professional writers could not; provide a satisfying ending with thematic and literary consistency to the rest of the series. Sure, it may be a bit "Hollywood", but at least it works a damn sight better than the actual game.
It's not really a bad reason. Because it is their story and that's that. If you don't like it, that's fine. Your reaction and mine are completely different, if I don't like it. I just move on.
Was I upset with the original endings and angry? Yeah, but than I got over it and moved on. The EC explained everything and really, not much in it bothers me.
They also problaby weren't looking for a "satisifying" ending with ME3, not to mention yet again. Opinions.
I think blowing up the reapers is a very boring and bland ending and ironically gets rid of the idea of choice in mass effect (one ending only).

What money could they possibly get with EC? Sure, I guess save some fans, but those who hate it, hate it, and lets face it. Big media blew this up, and in comparsion, didn't give a big shout about EC. So that idea is kind of a lost cause. But yet again, it comes down to your opinion. You're jaded and think they did it only for money, I, am willing to give a benefit of a doubt to other human-beings and assume they meant something decent.
I don't know what Final hour is, is that some app that floats around? I don't think I want to buy that. MP isn't needed as with EC you no longer need it to get the best endings and I'll be honest when I say I don't think I'd care either way. I enjoy the MP.
I also don't get these F.U points, Refuse is a symbolic statement and actually fits in well with ME1 Vs Saren. Do you die on your feet, and die free, or do you live a slave, doing as the catalyst/reapers wishes upon you? You can say it's a big choice on Shepard to basically refuse and let everyone die, but so is the other endings. It's not an easy choice.
Destroy too, whats wrong with it? No seriously. Its the ending I always pick and I didn't think anything was wrong with it.

MP was needed to get the bloody breath scene, it was PROMISED we would not need it but we did and I have a direct apology from another dev about it, yes Casey and Mac FLAT OUT LIED about it.
The final hour video reveals basically that Mac was hired solely because he was Casey's best bud.
Refuse was not an ending as it DOES NOT trigger the ending achievement, it was basically Bioware's way of saying "don't like it? YOU LOSE"
Destroy with high EMS gives the breath scene Bioware refused to confirm Shepard lives publicly at Comicon too thus requiring me to headcanon the ending. I did not pay 60$ to headcanon my Shepard's ending. The really ****ty part is that Control and Synthesis do nit require headcanoning

Well the mod makes me happy. Sure it's not perfect but given the confines of what modders have to work with this gives me a level of satisfaction that was sorely missing before. That said far be it from me to say that it fixes everything an that the ending is perfect now cause neither of those is true, but it's enough to be enjoyable for me at least.dreamgazer wrote...

It removes the plot breaking Catalyst which brings tears of joy to my eyes.
Seriously, anyone who thinks he is "ok" to have in this game need to play the last two games again. His removal and the quality of the re-worked endings make this mod awesome.
This exactly. I respect everyone's opinion but cannot see how anyone can even consider the kid was a good idea. I question people's understanding of the story if they think the choices and the kid fit it. The kid is a complete joke of contradiction and rampant illogical statements.

Because it's open, is your Shepard breathing his last breath, or breath of life?
MP, I assumed that was fixed and I apologize, as for Final hour, can't comment as I don't have it.
I play on PC and don't get achivements either.
Either way, I'm not arguing this, this is a thread about a mod and I apologize for derailing it with our discussion.

It's nice and the work done is commendable; I just can't get over the dreaded kill-everything-bad-switch, which I do not want in a good ending.
And saying how "a small team of modders did what the professional writers could not" isn't really fair to them (the writers). but sadly, the killswitch was introduced in the 2nd mission. we have to live with that.
well i can understand, that some people did like the endings - i personally and a lot of my friends who played the game, did not. same for the forums. if the endings were good, the biggest s**tstorm in gaming history would not have happend.
a lot of peole left the bsn, because they were first lied at and then offended as too dumb to understand. it does not matter how deep the original endings are - if you you want to make the game appealing to the broader audience (not that i sever supported that), you have to go all the way.
a lot of the original fans (where i am a part of) would have liked to have a happier ending in the first place. this game was supposed to be about choices - and it would have been fair, to implement at least one ending, like the one mrfob created, to cater to the more sentimental people out here.
it was said before, that mass effect 3 is the last game about shepard and his/her journey. a new game would be based on the mass effect universe, but it would not take part during the reaper war.
the fact that shepard can survive a high ems ending, if unchanged and not new - it was only shown in a different way.
this ending only represents the "headcanon" for a lot of people and since it is a user created mod, you dont have to use it. you should feel happy for those, who are willing to replay the game because of this effort.

well the devs and the artbook stated, that it is not shepards last breath - he/she can definatly survive an high ems destroy - that was even reinforced in the ec - the memorial wall scene is a direct hint, that the li (in ma case liara, who is connected to shepard) is not ready to beleave, that shepard is dead - after that scene, we still get the deep breath.
the last breath is more a "longf**t" ... the air slowly leaves your body, because you are not able anymore, to brace your phrenic. the breath shepard taken, is the exact opposite.
