I've played with Sy7ar, Feneckus and Lord Sirian in random pugs. They really are playing at another level than us mortals.

Ohhhh you're making me blush.

Oh and I think I remember seeing you in-game once or twice. But can't remember what classes we were playing at the time and such.

It was a long time ago.  Pretty sure we were both playing Piranha GI's.  I didn't know you from Adam at the time.  I even considered kicking you for not putting on any equipment .

 Back when I would PUG with a Piranha GI with no equipment except a Stronghold Package. :D Those were the days.

I've improved a lot since then... and rarely PUG any more since my friends list is now quite sizeable.

I see you have met the mighty Jay.

I play with Lord Sirian a fair bit, and have also met xcalizorz and Stentron, but no-one makes me feel quite as bad at this game as Jay does.

F***, here he is with a Volus Eng and a Mattock vs me with a Turian Ghost Typhoon:

And if he's using a good setup, forget it.

who is Feneckus... think i was in a match with him =o

A grizzled old guy who is pretty good at just about any class. In this case, the N7 Slayer with the Piranha.

i dont understand when these kinda threads show up....cause yall will be like score doesnt matter, but then yall turn around and praise people for being good/great at the game cause they score a lot of points/more than you....is score what determines if someone is good/great at the game?

Yes and no, you don't have to be able to score high to be a good/great teammate. However, if you are a great teammate (doing objectives, reviving when needed, missile when needed, etc) and still outscoring everyone that does play a factor in it. Score doesn't matter at all if all they are doing is trying to rack up kills instead of helping the team though, just means they are a greedy player.

Yeah I need a nerf I carried so many bad PUGs especially when they are leaving me clean up the collectors on wave 8,9,10 on gold because they're all dead and stupid and ending up with scores 100k and above while they have their 50k and 60k scores.

Private lobbies with friends are a lot more competitive than random PUGs

Score is a proxy for how fast you kill things.  Once you are playing with someone who you know is a good teammate, revives when appropriate does objectives uses their consumables etc...  Score becomes significant for judging how good they are.

I've topped a few of the really great player's score, mostly by chance and I was just a little faster than them that night. Sometimes I purposely try to outscore them, mostly with out success, just prove that I am good at this game. Not great, but above average and that I can hold my own. There are only two people (one a friend, the other we know of each other) I have yet to outscore that I really want to...It would make me feel like less of a terrible player and maybe be taken a little more seriously.

If you're above average, playing with other above average players then the scoreboard becomes less and less about how "good" someone is at the game and more about who can attack an enemy spawn the fastest.

Even Platinum feels like a race to see who can decimate a spawn first when I'm playing with some of the better players on my friend list.

This. It isn't hard to our score better players simply by getting to the enemies before them.  Sometimes it is a struggle to find anything to kill. And if everyone is nuking spawns the scoreboard starts to be completely random.

Agreed.  Seasoned teammates that understand spawn control usually rush  to kill off the spawns and make the game go as fast as possible.  Even when I play with pugs, I use my knowledge of enemy spawn points to try and get there as quickly as I can to prevent things from getting out of hand.

True, although If there are two other fools on the team who split even the initial spawn, spawn rushing is not nearly as effective, and you end up having to wipe out enemies the old-fashioned way.

I let the spawn nukers nuke everything to holy hell. I use my missles for the "When in doubt, whip it out" moments. When playing with the good people on my friends list, we usually tend to go our seperate ways and hold our own only to regroup on objective waves. Lmao

Any good group will either force a double spawn at least to start by going to certain positions on the map to block or if they are actually trying to rush it and do get a split have each spawn missiled to usually force a double in the next spawn.

Very true, at high levels some of us don't even check score ( my case ), but yes, score doesn't mean anything with people above certain level because the thing is, everything depends on who will be the first one on see the enemy.

Most of my experience has been in PUGs, so good group is not very typical.  I've seen plenty of good players, but good groups are as rare as hen's teeth.

@Ashen and Heroic: My poor Eagle III (at the time) just couldn't manage anything with you 2 there. Heroic, I want to do another Platinum Eagle run by the way!

@ISHYGDDT: I do both PUGs and play with groups, the experiences are worlds apart. Even Platinum feels like there isn't enough enemies half the time because of how quickly the good groups can take them down. PUGs are hit and miss for players, usually miss if you play a lot of them.

Dammit, I feel like I'm missing out, all I ever play with are pugs....I am one in that situation.
