So, yeah, this again.

I lost all my saves due to massive HD failure so I'm replaying, and since I'm replaying my canon Warden I want to make sure I do everything. In all the times I've played through Origins I've only managed to get Leliana to mention the nug once and I don't even know how I did it. I know there are apparently no conditions tied to getting this quest, so I'm wondering if there's a way to force it via the console.

I brought a bunch of gifts with me to Orzammar and I've tried various approval ratings from mid-70's to high 80's with nothing from her. I've talked to Leliana upon arriving in Orzammar, talked to the nug wrangler, and then tried talking to her again. I've also not talked to her when I get to Orzammar but talked to the nug wrangler first and then talked to Leliana and still... nothing. The only thing I haven't done yet is her personal quest. And yes, even though some find Schmooples to be annoying, I don't. I just want the darn quest.

I remember facing the same situation as you during one of my playthroughs. But when I went to the slums and initiated conversation with the idle dwarf, I got the option to ask him to get a nug.

What has always worked, whether through method or mere happenstance, is to finish her personal quest before speaking with Boermor across from Garin (crystal merchant). When Leli's quest is done, go talk to the guy with Leli in tow. He has always triggered her "Common nugs?" comment, which triggers the idle dwarf in Dust Town. Go talk to the Idle dwarf, go shopping at Alimar's and the Idle Dwarf will have Schmooples for you when you are done..

Well, it worked, but I have no idea how. I did her personal quest, talked to the nug wrangler, talked to her, nothing. Reloaded, talked to her, and she finally mentioned the nug.

I don't know how this quest is so hard to get if there are apparently no conditions.
