i'm on ps3, and i've experienced what you're talking about...you can tell when people are going for challenges....it's not my thing, but i dont judge...if they show they know what they're doing, i'll stick around after the game for multiple games...if they dont, i just leave when the game is over

Yeah I dont think the N7 Fury is meant to use a Typhoon

Who are you to say what works on Gold? Some things may not be optimal, but everything can work on Gold for someone that knows what they are doing.

This.

Yep Slim is right. Saw someone using an Avenger on a Human Sentinel in gold today, not optimal but hey I could have cared less, they pulled their own weight rathher well if you ask me.

Human sentinel is a caster anyway, so thats actually close to optimal. Could be better with an acolytle I reckon.

True but I just assumed they were going for their AR banner since they were using it.

Yet another day on BSN.

Some guy makes a complete legit post that a lot of people are using subpar builds to get some challenges, and one after the other elitist make fun of him.

Imo it's very simple; if you want to use some strange build on Gold; go solo or play it Private, unless you know for 100% you can finish the match within a reasonable time, if you're forced to solo some rounds.

Since the challenges are introduced I only play on Bronze, as I know that even my weirdest build (now using a Turian soldier with the Scorpion), will do his part and not prolong the match by much.

When you enter a Gold match with a caster class with a Typhoon, you leech on the other 3 players, only to get some challenges done. Even when you're the best player ever, you're still a leech.

What else did you expect? TSol with a scorpion is definitely good on gold. If you think otherwise, you're doing it wrong.

Everybody defines "some strange build" as something different.

Some people might consider my Human Soldier Conc Shot build as "some strange build" regardless of what weapon I take(It was the GPR or Falcon). I don't consider it strange.

I wonder if my friends would be mad if they had to put up with me doing this for a match. :?

I do not care very much, but there are indeed a lot of 'challenge clowns' in PUGs... The worst I have seen are those who try to use the Kishock off host and with tons of lag.

Have my doubts about the Scorpion, as it takes ages to deal damage (Like to stuck them on the Phantom's Bubble though) Image IPB

The Scorpion is a possibily for a caster class (has to compete with the Acolyte, Paladin and the Talon though), it will never be the no. 1 till no. 20 choice for the TSol.

And off the record; I was mistaken, allready did the Scorpion on my AJ, my TSol now uses the Arc pistol. Which you can charge, but some happy Vanguard (Thank you BW for this weekend challenge Image IPB) will probably take the kill before it's fully charged. Leaving you with one option; fastfire. Probably going to do this solo.

Locust X is a perfectly viable gold weapon. I've used on my human engies and my Fury to great success, often coming second or topping the scoreboard on successful gold runs.

Furys and engineers can kill with tech or biotics they dont really need a good gun.  People running gold with it on a destroyer which I have actually seen lately deserve to be kicked.  I think its one of the worst guns in the game.  The Hurricane and Hornet are better choices and dont weigh much more.

PUGs are totally unpredicatable now. You are just as likely to land a lobby of scrubs using "ideal" setups as you are to find a team of 7eets with weird builds.

The best indicator right now seems to be the player's equipment loadout (ie: whether they actually use any or not). It seems that those willing to use consumeables tend to at least try a little harder, which I guess makes all the difference. Even then it can go either way.

These days I find myself either in awesome PUGs where everyone survives and scores high or total disasters where the 3 other players wipe every other round.

There are some guys where what you say is true.   If I am playing PUG, I am not going to assume that you are one of those guys.   Gold is a lot of fun with friends, but with PUG its not that difficult to fail.   I have improved my PUG Gold success rate by making sure everyone has consumables applied ( also not necessary ), but also "good" loadout.

Yeah, unfortunately. Roughly half my friends are casual players to ME3 MP and they can't even OSOK trashmobs on Silver with the Claymore X, so I'm not gonna trust the average PUG with a Locust or GPR or some other hard-to-use gun on Gold.

 I scored above 120k with this build narida.pytalhost.com/me3/classes/#05RBKOCo4%400KEBID4C4%400%400  while playing with the OP who is a personal friend of mine. He knows I'm no leech.

Image IPB

Edit: I was only level 17 at the time and this is probably not an optimal build anyway :P

Some people just dont have the decency to get their challenge isht done on lower difficulties or solo.

I tried at first and realized I couldn't clutch late gold waves like normal so I did solo bronze/silver for the really horrendous loadouts. Always expect to do the carrying, not be carried. Prevents a lot of wasted time for everyone.

I can use whatever I want on Gold. I'm a very capable player.
I can't speak for all PUGs but most of the ones that bring in bad weapons (and cannot use them effectively) would have done the same regardless.

Yeah, pretty much all of the players on my friends list I'd trust with any loadout on Gold.

The loadout isn't the problem, it's the caliber of player, which you really can't judge until you play with them.

Add-on: and Locust and Eagle are really plenty capable these days with the buffs they've gotten.

Part of the fun is helping less experienced players, id rather be in a match with some less skilled players so they get better and pick up some tips, going into matches with all of us being high level players just becomes a fight for kills and kinda annoying when everyone's trying to kill the same person you are!
As for loadouts everything is beast in the right hands.. but you still have to learn how 2 use it no matter how good you are, they might end up a beast with said loadouts after a couple uses!

Loadout doesn't matter. Just use TGI for all weapon challenges and don't bother reviving downed allies. You'll feel like a dick but you can easily beat gold with a butter knife when using that class.

PUG silver, if they don't medi you can more than likely still get through and it helps us to be better players, friends gold and up.....personally have no trouble finding gold games as there is a tremendous amount of great people and players here at BSN
