"One day the magic will come back. all of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part and the skies will open wide. When he rises, everyone will see"

Video link: Here

So, anyone else get a sinking feeling something like ME3's synthesis ending is gonna happen in the dragon age universe and everyones going to be turned into mages? Maybe make it the dawn of the magic age or something?

If not, say so in the comments below. If so, how do you react? Violent rage? indifference? morbid curiosity? Hopeful anticipation?

How do you get synthesis from that? Did everybody used to be a mage?

He is possibly referring to the fact that mages used to be in control and dominant.

"One day the magic will come back, all of it" could be referring to them rising up again.
"Everyone will be just like they were" could be referring to how this has happened before.
"The shadows will part and the skies will open wide" could be referring to the fact that there will be no escape from it.
"When he rises, everyone will see" could be referring to person who is the cause of it all.

It's pretty ambiguous. Without knowing what aspect of "everybody" we're talking about, and without knowing how that aspect was different before, we're nowhere. It seems kind of dumb to pre-load your rage at this point.

Why is the word "synthesis" even being used? This isn't Mass Effect. Plus what does it even MEAN for a mage/templar "synthesis"? Will they become some weird hybrid where they nullify their own magic and become normal humans? No. There are others words for bringing the mages and templars together.

Like "Circle".

@Machines Are Us, that could also be eternal recurrence stuff, an element that was also used in the Xenosaga series. No way to know for sure without Gaider saying so, and that's if he's even decided where he wants to go with it.

"We were once more than we are." Lots of hints that the Veil and the isolation of magic might be much more recent.

The Black City and darkspawn is my guess.

Synthesis in DA is Architect and darkspawn not mages.

Can people just shut up about the bloody synthesis and ME3 endings? Believe it or not, but DA is not ME.

Sandal's prophecy is cryptic to the point that it could mean just about anything.

Frankly, I seriously doubt they would make everyone a mage to solve the conflict. Why? Because DA3 isn't the end of a series, and for future games, they're going to want to have multiple classes, not just Mage, Mage, and Mage.

How about Battlemage, Shadowmage, and Blasty mage? :wizard:

I like ME and I like DA, but lets please keep synthesis or anything like it away from DA, okay?

Please?

I've been saying this "mage synthesis" for a bit now whenever a Sandal or "what will the ending be?" post comes up. Glad to see someone else is like "please no. Don't make everyone a mage to end the war. Bad, bad idea."

I would absolutely love it if this was true, quite frankly. I shall support it all the way.

No offense but the thought of this caused me to vomit a little bit in my mouth. Any allusions to the me3 endings.....oh dear....shouldn't have thought about that again.....

I remember reading that receiving this prophecy requires you to do the Dark Ritual. So if Bioware does intend to make everyone magical, then not doing the Dark Ritual will likely either prevent or interfere with this process.

The punch-line here? Both my non-Dark Ritual playthroughs were as mage Wardens.

The only way the mage vs non mage war will ever end is if either everyone has magic or no one has magic. For a while now I've thought that will be the big final choice players will have to make for Dragon Age. I hope BioWare does something different, because it's so obvious and boring, but I can't see that they have any other choice if they want to settle up the mage vs non mage conflict once and for all.

I got it without doing the dark ritual.

I thought Sandal was just seeing the end of DA2 and talking in riddles about that. Oh well...

The magic coming back does not necessarily mean everyone will be mages. Afterall, it is only suggested that elves were all mages in Arlathan, not humans. It also seems to be tied to a the "he" who is supposed to be rising. For all we know, he can be talking about the Maker returning to take the black city. It is cryptic and supposed to be cryptic. I would not use that for any guesses on what happens next.

Oh. That's too bad, because that would just be too hilarious.
