How do you get synthesis from that? Did everybody used to be a mage?

This thread features some good examples of what TV Tropes likes to call Wild Mass Guessing. OP's statements about synthesis and Sandal's prophecy qualify for sure.

Pretty much any thread related to plot stuff at this point, given the scarcity of concrete information, is Wild Mass Guessing. :P

The Black City and darkspawn is my guess.

Actually I like this better than everyone becoming mages. "Everyone" instead being the darkspawn, and "as they were" being untainted. Hmm.

Everyone becoming mages would probably be the worst possible ending to DA I can immagine.

I can immagine some horrible, horrible stuff.

I could also just mean that Sandal is slightly crazy and like to say nonsense. After all that 'profecy' could mean anything. It could just be an easter egg meant to confuse us players. (And I have never gotten it to trigger, anyway)

I'd much more prefer the whole Maker, Black City, Darkspawn idea much more, but they could also include Tevinter into it, and somehow wrap in the whole Mage/Templar war. Dragon Age III if it is to involve all of this will be either really damn epic, or a big floppy mess.

Your imagination is limited here!

There are worse fates than just that. But it's still pretty bad.

You know what they say.... a prophecy is merely a theory that turned out ot be true.

99,9% of prophecies don't ever come true.

hm...i would love for everybody to be a mage (because some people having magic and some not having it is just un-equal :(

i am sure not all people would become full blown mages, but most would have the option :)

so yes, i would love this!

greetings LAX

Gaider already said it's a really vague reference to what they have planned. Prophecies in fiction aren't the same as prophecies in real life.

I honestly think Bioware doesn't have a plan with Sandal's "prophecy". It was just something they randomly threw in without really thinking about it. Sandal was just fine being that lovable retard dwarf who seemingly wiped the floor with the darkspawn in that one room, which was funny the one time but now it feels over-used.

Off topic, but from that link:

The protagonist of the game will be called...
...the Grand Inquisitor!

Made me lol, but now I'm almost HOPING that Protag has a default name like Hawke did. Inquistor just doesn't have the same ring to it as Warden did. :<

Frankly, I seriously doubt they would make everyone a mage to solve the conflict. Why? Because DA3 isn't the end of a series, and for future games, they're going to want to have multiple classes, not just Mage, Mage, and Mage.

How about Battlemage, Shadowmage, and Blasty mage? :wizard:

Good ones...
But perhaps Arcane Warrior, Shadowcaster and Magus would be better?
Don't know, just brainstorming here...

Bioware didn't even have a plan for Sandal. He wasn't suppose to be prophesizing anything, that's for sure. He was just supposed to be an in-game joke (like asschabs, *teehee*)

I'm guessing the prophecy refers to some cataclysmic Veil shattering event to be portrayed in Dragon Age V

"When he rises"
Maybe he's talking about the old gods/archdemons or perhaps a dark ritual kid(unlikely based on variables).
