I much prefer the old layout, but I love some of the features here.

The quote system is poop, though.

Love the avatars. Facebook-ish stuff is actually quite neat. Forum background color and contrast with font sucks. I have a really hard time reading replies compared to the old forums, because my eyes strain fast.

It seems simple enough, but then I visit more than just the Bio forums so maybe I'm just used to new stuff. Still, it does kind of feel like I shouldn't be posting here.

Bizarre emoticons as well.

It was a while before it occurred to me to use text zoom in the browser. I was seeing very small writing by default but suddenly it's much nicer now.

If you are using Firefox, there's a View/Zoom option to do Text Zoom Only, then CTRL-+ or CTRL-scroll wheel does the trick.

Definitely not alone in the "I'm a complete n00b!" category. To date, I've even skipped out on the whole social-site trend -- myspace, facebook, twitter, lord-knows-what-else -- so yeah... it'll take some figuring.

I find the best way to become familiar with something is to try my best to break it. :)

This color scheme is practically the best combination when looking at a self-luminescent display. When the contrast is too high (black on white, white on black, blue on red) or too low, your eyes plot your hideous murder.

Using predominantly white backgrounds has been the stupidest widespread mistake in software and web design of all time. Of all time!

I'm still figuring the whole thing out, but I'm also liking it more than I did yesterday ;) The only thing bothering me at the moment is the icons they use on the forums. I can't tell what they mean. On the old forum there are the yellow and green round icons which indicate if there are new posts on any given thread, and once you've read everything, the icons turn grey. Here we have those papers, some of them are yellow and others bluish, some burn, some don't, and I just can't figure them out. I miss the clarity of the old forum...

With regards to all the forum layout talk, I made some suggestions, but my post with fancy pictures has already dropped to page 2. Harrumph. If you like, go check the thread and give your own feedback so the devs can make us a super amazing forum.

Very nice. Quixal has also been trying to help me hide my number of "friends" list. We've been talking on the old site about how that makes some of us uncomfortable. I would like to get rid of that altogether (not necessarily the list of who your friends are, but the fact that everyone else can see the count). It just feels too "popular/nonpopular kids" kinda thing to me.Image IPB

I like the site very much. I don’t worry too much, I’ll just flail around arms waving until I fall or the PPPP catches me.

What I'm not used to is the new avatars that all look really similar. :3 I'm so used to everyone's sort of semi-permanent avatars that have a lot of color and stuff. Now there are only a handful of people that haven't attempted to claim something as close to their old avatar as possible.

The migration is difficult...I can't get used to this new stuff. And it's hard to keep track of things.

Welcome to my world. Image IPB

I like the old ones much better, but Urgnu doesn't like it when I use them. Image IPB

Seriously, though (this is not a place for misunderstandings between random board members, IMO :)) , I'm not your aforementioned honey.  Just someone with a penchant for breaking stuff.  Even when I can't figure out how to put it back together again, I can usually manage to figure out how it used to work.

Please do. (nothing against playing around, but have had... incidents... in the past.  No chances from me on this particular front any more, particularly with someone I don't know).

Hehe it's okay to look like a fool sometimes..trust me..I look like a fool all the time.

I think this place is a little different than the typical forum..but for the most part it's the same.

The quoting can be a real pain, and is also very slow..and yeah some of the "lingo" can be confusing like you mentioned "Reply sent" does indeed just mean that your edit was saved...

Anyways..no worries, you'll figure it out..plus Im sure they will change things up quite a bit..this is just beta after all.

Oh and you can nest quotes..it just doesn't appear right in the editor, but when you post it does (usually..unless there's too much text in there or images)
