something akin to how Nathaniel Howe was done in DA2 seems appropriate for the man of the hour

I've been replaying DA:O recently, and just did the Landsmeet today.

Definitely reminded me why Loghain is one of my favourite characters.

Why would my DA:O mabari be the warden commander? (I named him Loghain)

I loved Loghain as a character. Having him as a party member was awesome. Glad I could put Alistair on the throne with Anora and give the Wardens a legendary general before I died.

My human noble Warden spares Logain because, first the Wardens, then Fereldon and Thedas as a whole are better off that way. I want Anora and Allistar to rule. Anora's mind and Allistar's heart are the most suitable combination to rule. If Anora loses her father, she might also lose her focus on sound ruling. If Allistar hates the Warden, well that's just too bad. He'll still try to do what's best for Fereldon. Besides he'll get over it. The Warden is still his best friend and Allistar knows it.

Plus this leaves the Wardens with the most possible influence over the Fereldon throne. Since the last Blight, outside of Orzammar, the soldiers of Fereldon have the most experience fighting Darkspawn of any other nation of Thedas. The Wardens would certainly stand to gain from having an army of experienced soldiers to direct should another Blight occur sooner, rather than later.

Logain's loyalty is no longer an issue. He saw Orlais as the biggest threat there was before the Joining. Now, he see's the real threat every night when he dreams.

My first playthrough of DAO I hated Loghain so much that I made Anora queen, let Alistair kill Loghain, and Alistair got to stay a Grey Warden. My 2nd playthrough, (AFTER reading the Stolen Throne) I made Alistair marry Anora, and Loghain become a Grey Warden, and he made the ultimate sacrifice killing the Archdemon. It would be fun to see him again, ironically, as commander of the Grey Wardens in Orlais, and I wonder if he would stage a "coup".

I would totally be ok with a him having a cameo, it's doubtful, but still. I spare him most of the time since I'm a sucker for tragic anti-heros. He's an ass and definitely has questionable issues that can fill all of Thedas but after I read the books he grew on me. His last line to Anora really humanized him too I think.

Just thinking about the awkwardness of Loghain meeting Celene when he goes to Orlais, especially if he knew of Cailans letters with Celene.

If you read the Stolen Throne and The Calling your perspective of him will change greatly.

They made me dislike him even more.

And his previous actions don't change the fact that by Origins he's blaiming the Wardens for a crime they didn't commit, trying to have a man assassinated and selling elves into slavery.

I would love to see Loghain again.

I'm not sure I want to see him in a titles role, but it would be cool to see him command a unit of wardens somewhere. I rather fancy the idea of seeing him work with a squad personally, we never saw that in the first game.

That's because he ran from the battle after his lousy plan went up in smoke plus Loghain lead a squad against the warden after Loghain was shown up at the landsmeet.

That being said since Loghain (if you let him live...) ended up as a warden in Orlais it actually would make sense for Loghain to appear but Bioware should make the player find Loghain by travelling on the world map.

Having Loghain appear would also cover the Darkspawn Warden storyline angle.
