I still love it on biotics. The Paladin weighs more and has a crap ammo capacity compared to the Carnifex.

maybe I'm missing something, but why are people complaining about the weight?  a lot of casters take rank 4 passive for weight capacity/power, and at X the carnifex winds up giving a cooldown of 190%.... how is that "too heavy" considering casters can effectively opperate at lower cooldown %s?

Because then why use it? If you have a higher leveled Paladin/Scorpion/Talon and hell even a Hurricane, then you're better off using one of those with ULM.

clip capacity, spare ammo, accuracy at all ranges, stopping power.  it's an extremely well rounded and functional gun.  the others you mentioned dip into more specialized niches and wind up suffering in one category to the benefit of another.  carnifex is my most used pistol and i've never found it lacking... but, well, it all comes down to opinion

Why use a carnifex when I can use a acolyte with ULM and hurricane V with stability mod and still have cooldown of 160-180 on most casters? I used my carnifex for pistol challenge and found my palidin, talon, or scorpion to be better at killing things anyway. Once your manifest grows the carnifex becomes obsolete.

I got a Paladin I in one of my psps, coincidentally my Carnifex X ceased to exist.

Isn't Paladin I worse than Carnifex X? I thought it gets better around IV or V.

The Pally does more damage per shot and overall dps is higher, on downside is that its just heavier, the extra .2 sec to my cooldowns doesn't bother me like some unlike most. So it's actually better 'out of the box' than the carnifex.

SMG ULM works now. Acolyte charge up was removed. Light shotties like the Piranha and the Wraith. Casters do not need 180-200% cooldowns to be effective. 4 good reasons to put the Carnifex on the shelf...imo. Actually, I haven't really seen the Carnifex since the Acolyte was introduced.

I stopped using it when I discovered the Acolyte

Once the talon's weight went done, no need for the carnifex. Another sign bioware has no clue about balance.

I've been using it every now and then for the Pistol challenge, its still a good gun, but since I have a Paladin X I'm not sure why I'd bring it beyond the challenges.

Why would I ever use it over the Acolyte?

If you use one of those, especially the Paladin, with ULM then you can't add the ammo mod. Which means that ammo capacity sucks, and you need to make every one of your shots count. Frequent visits to ammo crates become the order of the day.

Carnifex X with ammo mod = 40 shots, with a clip size of 10. None of the other 3 can match that.

I confess that I got bored with it. Around the first three months I used this pistol on every caster, all of them. Light, accurate, high damage per shot - great all-rounder.

Paladin is good but magsize is a bit low. I'm not an extraordinarily good shooter so bigger magsize = better. However, the chargeless acolyte just blew both paladin and carnifex out of the picture.

It has the same weight evolution as the Paladin now, so If you have them both at X the Carnifex becomes irrelevant. I did the challenges for both pistols with the Broguard yesterday and the Paladin went by so much faster.

On my AA, I generally use either Carniflex or Paladin. It depends on the spec I use.
My Carniflex is maxed, my Paladin isn't, so there's a very prominent difference in weight. So for Carniflex I can go 6/6/6/5/3, while for the Paladin I go 6/6/6/6/0.
ULM is not an interresting option to me personally. I prefer to attach both a piercing mod and a barrel to my guns.

Currently my AA is using a Predator though. I'm working on the Heavy Pistol challenge on the side.

I never understood why they gave it the nerf. It wasn't really that good to begin with... well I don't like handcannons.
