Are they native the area surrounding Orlais? I'm obviously drawing this conclusion from MOTA. If so, is there a chance of seeing them/fighting them in Inquisition?
Wyverns?

I think it would be interesting to see them again.
I'm not expecting another wyvern hunt, à la MOTA, but some sort of quest revolving around them would be nice.
Depending on their importance/relevance in Orlais, I think introducing different forms or subspecies would be a nice touch.

Yeah, I mean, if Wyverns exist, think of how many other interesting monsters/creatures could be brought into the game. Demons and darkspawn are cool but there definitely needs to be some new additions.

I agree. MOTA was refreshing in that it introduced new monsters and creatures to fight, like wyverns and ghasts.
Not that I have anything against darkspawn or wolves or what have you, but Orlais is not Ferelden. I would assume that different species would reside farther north.
If that photo tweeted by Laurie Hawn a few weeks ago is anything to go by, I'm guessing that we'll see some fun new creatures in the next game.

MotA doesn't take place in Orlais. Chateau Haine is a part of the Free Marches area.
So if they are native to any one locale, it'd be the Kirkwall area at the very least and the Free Marches total.
But I'd say that no, they're not native to just one area.

If he owned Chateau Haine for a while he could have imported wyverns to the area... the same way we fill artificial lakes with fish.
I was just thinking about scorpion cavalry vs wyvern cavalry and surprisingly enough it doesn't seem as badass as one would think it would. Kind of a high fantasy overload.

I want a Wyvern guarding my castle. I'll feed it castle staff that give me lip.

It's all in the technique.
Also, gorilla cavalry vs. wyvern cavalry. That's the one you want.

Here's that picture, courtesy of the Twitter thread.
Ideas for fun new monsters? Possibly!

Also, apologies. I'd forgotten that Chateau Haine wasn't actually located in Orlais.
I suppose the fact that it's owned by Duke Prosper colored my memory somewhat.
Although...as Filament suggested, I guess its possible they're non-indigenous to the Free Marches.
