They feast on the tears of BSN forumites, didn't ya know?

Each writer gets a high backed chair and a Persian cat too. And a mason jar. For your tears.

And about next gen vs. current, it prob depends on date of release

EDIT: which is why you are asking about the release date. Oops. Personally, I'm inclined to believe you'll need a system. Because all the execs at Sony, Microsoft and EA REALLY DO feast on cash made moist by your tears. And the blood from the leg you chopped off to collect insurance and worker's comp to buy the PS4 or 5 and the Xbox 720 or 1080 or πr2  (or whatever)

Why is this question still being asked? Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

To the guy or girl that said they are planing to make the next gen consoles unable to use used games it isn't going to happen if I do remember right (I may be wrong) Microsoft confirmed they weren't doing this

It's speculation. Pure speculation. Same can be said for what systems DA3 will be on. However, one can use common sense and figure it out.

EA wants max profit. 360/PS3 each have over 50 million+ owners. A new console would be lucky to have a few million. That doesn't exclude next-gen systems. It's possible you could see some HD versions(basically what the PC version will look like) on these new systems(assuming they're on next-gen hardware).  You can pretty much guarantee it will be on PS3/360. Largest potential revenue gain is on those systems and where DA franchise established itself. Unless M$/Sony decided to drop untold money into EA/Bioware's hand to make it exclusive on their next-gen system, it's a safe bet to assume it's coming out on PS3/360 at least.

I don't think you'll see any company fully utilize and build a game around next-gen architecture until Sony/M$ stop supporting 360/PS3. Until then, all next-gen games will be HD upgrades like the PC versions. Probably a safe bet to assume it will be on PC too since that's usually the platform they build it on and break it down. I'm not sure if Bioware does this but most devs do.  Lastly, Frostbite is not currently built for next-gen systems to my knowledge. It's purely optimized for PC, 360, PS3. No Frostbite 3 yet(at least to my knowledge).

tl;dr EA/Bioware want to maximize profit - they will put it out on as many consoles possible. Hope that helps. Didn't read the thread just responded to your question.

The Frostbite 2 engine was built with next gen in mind, that's why BF3 looks so good on PC compared to the console versions.

The engine is scalable so that it can work with current gen and next gen consoles, so it's likely that DA3 will get a release on current consoles and if the next generation of consoles come's out near when DA3 releases there should be a version for the next gen consoles.

Xbox 360 is past. Couldn´t even handle the Witcher 2 past medium settings, why it´s supposed to handle DA 3?

I wouldn't expect DA3 to be have better graphics than TW2 on PC, or BF3 on PC. The fact that they're using the Frostbite 2 doesn't mean that DA3 will be no.1 game in term of graphics.
Plus, I continue saying that releasing DA3 only on next-gen consoles (plus PC), at the same time of the next-gen console release, could be a mistake. DA3 might be overshadowed by other games, expecially exclusives.
And about exclusives, I doubt that MS will launch the new Xbox without Halo 5. Considering that Halo 4 is released this year, I doubt that they'd release Halo 5 in 2013.

Considering there is not much information available on the game, and you've no need to even consider whether you should purchase it yet, this is something I'd suggest you not get worked up about at this point.

If a person if sure to buy it because he/she enjoyed greatly the last games and doesn't see a reason for not buy it (there were plently in the past and there are plently now, as far as I saw in certan threads), but will not buy the next-gen consoles on release, I can understand why he/she would be concerned about the consoles you're going to release the next game. Though the " you're torturing me" reaction is a bit exaggerated.
Oh, and I'm not saying Bioware should say in which console DA3 is going to be released. Just that I undestand why some people might be worried about it.

I intend to play it on PC, so I don't worry about it too much (assuming they'll release it on PC at all). I believe Frostbite 2 can already render magnificent environments on the current-gen consoles, but if they intend to make it a next-gen game with better visuals, then that would be nice as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it were a next-gen game. Maybe they're silent about platforms because DA3's platforms don't exist yet.

I'd love to read more platform details, not because it will affect my purchase, but because I'm very curious.

At first, I was thinking that Dragon Age: Inquisition would be released for current-generation consoles, since the next-generation consoles have not been announced yet (except the Wii U), but now I wouldn't be surprised if DA:I was announced for next-generation consoles (or for both generations), given Bioware's reluctance to discuss what consoles it would release for, as well as their concerns regarding save-imports.

I think they're more worried about whether they'll be needing to budget for a new console if they want to play DA3 next year.  Them suckers aren't a trivial purchase for everybody, you know.

The post above pretty much reflects my thoughts on the topic.

From a strictly financial point of view, it makes no sense whatsoever to tie DA3 to the next generation of consoles. Think about the debacle that was the PS3 unveiling — a $600 price point! And this was in 2006! Even if Microsoft and Sony were able to keep the next generation launch price points in the ballpark of the 2005 and 2006 numbers, respectively, it'd be a helluva chunk of money to ask consumers to fork over ... even more so during a time when a good part of the planet is suffering through anything from financial near-recession to recession to outright depression.

So, my money is with an Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release. As for exclusivity, no way. That might work with some genres, but I don't think RPGs generate enough sales to warrant such a move, Witcher notwithstanding.

It seems Playstation hasn't learned their lessons yet. The sooner they release a system, the bigger the fanbase. Even though X-box360 has high failure rate and require online subscription, they still are more popular because they have already establish a fanbase. Those with a next gen will be less reluctant to get another one, and those who have friends with the next gen will get a similar one, so they can play together. It looks like PS4 will continue to collecting dusts behind the shelf. It's good news for DA though. If we get the game with the current gen, the developers can focus more on developing the game and less on figure out the mechanism of the new system.

If the XBOX 8 / PS4 release for nov/december 2013. As Dragon Age III is to release late 2013 it would be possible to see it on next-gen but I would say it is about 90% sure DAIII will be on current gen no matter if the next gen was to be released.

Last i heard from Sony director, that new console isn't comming sooner then 2015 - 2016. So i doubt new consoles will be comming next year. In fact, i am sure they won't.

It would seem EA Labels Boss, Mr Frank Gibeau would disagree. He even admits that he's under non-disclosure so can't go into detail.
