I didn't want to start a new thread for this question, but I couldn't find another thread suitable.

Is it possible for two or more companions to talk simultaneously? Or does it always have to be turn-based?
I mean, say, one character says something appalling and the others respond in a chorus of disapproval?

EDIT: This is a question, not a request! BSNers, God bless you guys, have a knack for misinterpreting posts.

One person talking at a time is enough on the nerves, thank you.

I would have to say that I prefer turn-based dialogue. I'm afraid I am not quick enough, nor clever enough to differentiate dialogue on the fly.

Isn't this kind of similar to asking:

"Why does everyone have a rich, cultured voice with clear pronunciation? Why don't we ever talk to someone who's mumbling through a sandwich?"

"If they're running through explosions, why can I still clearly hear them talking?"

"Why do all the interesting things happen when the story is focusing on the character?"

I think you're putting the cart before the horse. They don't talk over each other because the devs WANT us to hear their carefully-crafted dialog.

I'm just asking a question, not making a request.

I am trying to find out if there are any technical reasons as to why I have never heard companions speak over one another;
For example:
NPC 1:"Did I tell you about the time me and that dwarf..."
NPC 2:"Ew...That's enough!"
NPC 3:"Yeah, seriously."
NPC 4:"I think I'm gonna be sick".

I mean, generally in real life, shocking things to a group of people normally have them all responding at the same time; not individually. So, I'm trying to find out if there's some technical issue that makes it turn-based.

I'd say the only thing they need to work on is when one character interrupts another, but there's a slight, weird pause in between. It makes me giggle, but I lose immersion.

That, too. Absolutely.

Now you have me trying to count all the you-have-GOT-to-be-KIDDING choruses that would have been required in DAII...

Anders, it's not appropriate to ask someone you just met what sex games she played with her dead husband.  My kingdom for a chorus of "SHUT UPS."  <_<
