I don't know, Comrades, but playing as Irving is one of my favorite parts of the game.

The feeling of entering the Fade as the First Enchanter, crushing the demon's minions and teaching the demon what it means to mess with the Head of the Circle Tower was a very rewarding experience. (He reminds me of Dumbledore, for all Harry Potter fans around).

Thanks to BioWare for, among other things, enabling this option within the game.

Anyone else agrees and would like to have more such options in sequels?

He would be way more badass if he was presented fighting against the Blood Mages and the Abominations in the Tower. But unfortunately, he is just sitting there waiting to get rescued.

If Irving and Teagan got together, nothing would be able to stop them.

He is "sitting there" because he must have been tortured and weakened to a great extent, but I certainly agree with you, it would have been great to see him kick ass in a cut scene.

Yeah its lots of fun playing him. Thought he would be way more powerful ... Dumbledore is far too soft to be the first enchanter.

I had no idea you could enter the Fade with him, but I've always just killed the child. Fortunately, I have learned, I can still get Irving to go on this playthrough and possibly will.

Dumbledore is not too soft. Have you read the Potter books, Bratinov?

Yes I have. Maybe soft isn't the rigth word but i dont see him messing with Lilly just for the sake of discrediting the chantry.

I read book 7 upon release so i cant think of arguments right now.

He has a really wicked-a** spell in that cave that he and Harry go into in Half-Blood Prince.  It's like Inferno X 1000!  There's no way Uldred would try to turn Dumbledore into an abomination.

Still, though, Irving rocks.  Wynne thinks so too. Image IPB

Oooh, I forgot about Sweeney.

*runs off to nominate Sweeney for Mister Fereldon*

They should have done a Dumbledore remake with Irving casting lightning Storm on Uldred (since he does not appear to be a major fan of fire) as judged by his array of spells.

I also wished he told the demon at one point "I'm the First Enchanter, you demonic bi*ch, what now huh?!"

I despise Irving.

He revels in his destructive relationship with Greagoir and seems to care little for his students as anything other than as pawns to be proud of when they respond to his manipulation.

He totally failed Jowan, and his spiteful need to entrap Lilly just to 'break even' with Greagoir in the matter is just shameful.

How do you get Irving over to Redcliffe? When I played it twice so far I've had to choose between killing Isolde or Connor and I've split the difference on those two. Redcliffe is usually 2nd to last place I go to with the first being the Mage Circle (and I've saved Irving both times).

@Slayer299: When you enter Castle Redcliffe, you meet Jowan the mage. You need to spare Jowan's life in order to unlock the other solution to this quest.

@00Jane

I did and after getting to the room with Isolde, Teagen and Connor. After defeating Connor Jowan speaks about about going into the Fade with a mage to free Connor. But since he lacks, power and lyrium the only option was Blood Magic.

Hmmmmm, I'll have to see when I go through Redcliffe what happens this time around.

You have to go ask Irving.

*smacks himself in the forehead with his hand* D'OH! You'd think that simple answer would have occurred to me. Thanks much! :D

I kinda like Irving, actually. The feud between him and Greagoir is kinda funny to watch, to be honest. Like two siblings, one's always trying to get at the other, you know?

Quite frankly, I think Greagoir, Irving, Teagan, and Oghren should all go on an adventure together. Would make a hilarious spinoff.

He does help you in the fight against the Archdemon.

If Irving and Teagan got together, nothing would be able to stop them.

And to think, you introduce them...

When you enter Castle Redcliffe, you meet Jowan the mage. You need to spare Jowan's life in order to unlock the other solution to this quest.

If it suddenly occurs to you that 'sparing him' pretty much guarantees he's going to become a traquil and so you let him go one playthrough, having Morrigan (or possibly Wynne) in your party will prompt her to explain about the blood magic and then I think Alistair suggests going to the Circle. He's always in my party during Redcliffe for obvious reasons.

I had Jowan go into the Fade to rescue Connor. There was some funny dialogue, because Jowan's such a Charlie Brown-style tool. If you choose to converse with the first Connor you see, Jowan says "So, seen any demons lately?".

Yes, Morrigan or Wynne or even Alistair will bring up the Circle as an alternate solution even if you don't release/spare Jowan.  I think you prompt it with "there must be some other option" dialogue tree.  Alistair always said "You can find more mages and lyrium at the Circle if they will even do it" and Wynne concurs (I always have those two in my group).

Then you get to say "Its not far and they owe me" hehe that feels REALLY damn good to me at that point.

And agreed with OP Irving in the Fade kicks ass!
