I am considering having a hardened Alistair marry Anora and keep Loghain alive. My warden would also be still alive after performing the dark ritual with Morrigan. My question to you all is do you all think it is better to have Loghain alive recruiting in Orlais during the events of DA:III? I'm kind of interested (and worried) if Alistair's anger towards the Wardens manifests itself later.

and how does it concerns you in DA3?

That babyface king Alistar (if he is alive) can do what ever he wants. Truth is - that even if he is alive, it's Anora who was leading army against darkspawn horde, while Alistar was... somewhere else.

Well, I have been pretty loyal to the Wardens throughout my playthroughs of Awakenings, etc. I guess that constitutes what I personally think is a "good route" in DA:III. It is hard to say their influence would be a definitive "bad" thing in Thedas.

Having Loghain alive is good for DA:O; I expect it to have no effect on DA3 though.

I prefer the Loghain is alive outcome where Alistair and Anora rules jointly.

I can't see how anyone that let Loghain live throughout the DA:O endng could be against him appearing since he is in Orlais as far as we know.

I don't want a ohai unexplained cameo like King Alistair or Zevran in DA2, but since the last source, himself, said he was in the place where we predict DA:III to take place I don't doubt the devs and the writers can come up with something good.

look i think Bioware did good with DA setting, and be exact with it's PC.
Look at Mass Effect - Shepard is so huge as a character, most likely he or she will overshadow any character in ME setting that will be created next (well i hope there will be ME4 - space magic!!11)
In DA:O we have a huge threat - darkspawn - and few chosen abhumans arise to fight it - Grey Wardens.
And when Darkspawn are defeated Warden Commander and a Wardens have no major role in the setting. I mean yeah they kick ass, Marilyn Manson and stuff. Are you mfs ready? for new s**t? Well i guess you know that trailer. So basically story of Warden Commander is done because it's complete.
DA2 - we have guy or girl by the name Hawke, who kicks ass in his Hack and Slash jRPG way in the same locations over and over again. And i guess some DLCs which i don't have, give you a deeper view on Hawke and his family. But seriously - he is done as well, but i am afraid only for some time.
In DA3 - we will have all new PC as well.
And as result should your DA3 character or you as player pay any attention to what will happen to Loghain if Alistar go mad? (well we know that Loghain will slap him in the face but still)

That really made no sense, and was one of the few flaws of DA:O. Heres Alistair, talking me down and being a GW loyalist and then he just leaves the battle?

Could the player who killed Loghain (like me!) have his disembodied floating head show up in the game?

Don't get me wrong. It's annoying, but I still love the guy, he's mah bro... when I kill Loghain.

My God it's like choosing which testicle to chop of some times :crying:

your loss.
consider this - Loghain is a man enough to go down with head held high. While Alistar is a quiter. Simple as that.

It's over ten years later, I'd be surprised if he's still alive.

Having one of the better video game characters ever in a game is a good thing, even if you despise him. I think I've only got one of my warden imports that still has him alive. If he actually has a big role in DA3, as opposed to a brief cameo, I'll be the first to make sure that one gets imported at some point.

And I think DA:O stated that Wardens hear The Calling from 10 to 30 years after The Joining... also, being a Gray Warden is not exactly the safest work in the world... so... yeah. It's likely most of the DA:O party migh as well be dead, Warden, Alistair, Loghain, Oghren and everyone else included.

Not cool but plausible.

As for the topic itself, I'm not expecting anything more than a mention or a meaningless but nice to see cameo.

Here's the thing, unless you have a pre-landsmeet save for DAO, are you actually going to do a whole fresh run? Or were you planning on doing a DAO play anyway, so that's why you asked?

My feeling is that unless you were going to play DAO anyway, to wait until we actually can play DA3 to see what is in it. We can import all the crazy variables we want, that doesn't mean they will have a result in the actual game. It seems to me that you are making a lot of assumptions regarding Loghain for this.

But you know, if you like Loghain, sure why the hell not. :D

I was thinking more to do with his age on joining than anything else. The old origins epilogues seemed to suggest he didn't last long before going on his calling.

It is vague enough so I don't think it would be too much of a stretch if he is in the game.  As has been posted it will probably end up being much ado about nothing, but if we learn from the devs that he indeed has a role larger than a mere cameo, I'm more than happy to run through games again to make sure I have a good import save. I haven't played either game in ages so would welcome this.
