Depends on the kit and what you want to do with the gun. I happen to like the Collector Rifle quite a bit, but I think there's also currently a good argument for the Argus, and if you can for the accuracy and/or recoil, the Revenant is a strong candidate as well.

I was thinking for the Turian Ghost ... sadly the only ultra rare assault rifle i have is the N7 Hurricane ..

most of the non UR ARs require specific setups/maps to operate well.

Striker for instance is fantastic on a TGI on smaller maps like glacier. Revanant is good on a Tsol with stability cons.

Collector rifle and phaeston are very similar despite their rarity difference. they are good but require lvl 3-4 consumables to be effective gold+

Mattock is an uncommon, and in some cases, is much better than the UR Assault Rifles.

That would be an SMG.

Falcon, but it occupies an entirely different niche than the other assault rifles. Mattock is a good choice for damage dealing.

The Ghost does quite well with any AR, including the Mattock. I would still argue for the Argus, since it saves your trigger finger some wear, and because the Turian bonus to recoil is a huge help for it.

As I said, I do l like the Collector Rifle, but I like it less on the Ghost than on most other kits. The Ghost wants a weapon that can squeeze as much damage as possible into a window that's 2.5 seconds long, and the Collector Rifle is a choice that works better on classes that like sustained damage.

I don't know honestly. None of them really appeal to me. Avenger does! But that sucks damagewise.

It would all depend on what class I'm using. I try not to have any repeats on any of my kits and I tend to use them a little differently than other people do. My Turian Ghost for instance rather than using an assault rifle I have the Indra X, and the Hurricane V, which works for me. As for assault rifles in general it depends on what you want to do. Mattock works well for a character with stasis for the easy headshots, Argus works well for close-combat or a class with built-in stability like the Turians, it all depends. So I can't say any of them are the best, but you'll just have to try them out for yourself.

Huh I oddly favor a VIndicator at times over a mattock, long ago I used to use the vindicator a ton and out do mattock users on my drell before they debuff it a few times , maybe it needs a few more rebuffs but it's my listing here of how I preference them usually

Tx for all the replies ... i'll have to try some different setups ... typically i have been more of a 'go for accuracy in short bursts over continuously spraying bullets' type of gamer

It might be best if we talked about why the Mattock is so good.

1) Range and accuracy. Even without the accuracy mod, you can get headshots from a long distance.

2) Little to no recoil. Even if you're spamming the shot key, there's hardly any movement in the barrel.

3) Single shot instead of spray damage. This means you can spend more time in cover, and you'll do more damage to armored foes.

4) Medium weight. A power class can still use the mattock without worrying about C/D.

That said, I'm not fond of the Mattock's feel. It's less an AR and more a heavy pistol. Oh, and my finger gets really tired after I play with it for a while.
