Revenant... but is better for close combats. spray revenant with cryo ammo is really a easy mob kill.

I have been, and still am, a true blue Mattock fan.

Striker is also a great choice. Phaeston isn't too bad, either, if the Mattock trigger hurts you.

The Mattock is a good weapon, if you have the finger for it. As is the Argus, provided you equip a Stability Damper.

Revenant for Destroyer is imo the best weapon, since devastator mode increases Accu, heatclip, dmg and rof... revenant + destroyer is a love story.

Based on your criteria I'd go for the popular choice - Mattock. Throw on a HVB and an AP Mod and... yeah.
If the N7 Valkyrie works as it does in SP then that would make a good choice, along with the Argus - as stated, decent damage, short burst, very accurate, recoil not an issue with Turians.
I suppose the Vindicator would be acceptable, but I find the damage lacking (although I admit I've never tried an AR on a Inf).

I'd say Mattock > Argus > Valkyrie > Vindicator

Well just been using (for the first time ever I may add) a Argus X with a Stability Dampener V an Extened Barrel V and was using Drill Rounds I for penetration with my N7 Destroyer and gotta say I love this weapon, been getting reliable headshot medals quite often with this beast. Not sure why this gun gets such crappy reviews, thus far it has been an absolute pleasure to use.

Previously the Mattock was my favourite non ultra rare weapon, it is now tied with the M55 Argus.

I just completed the Assault Rifle Mastery challenge (mostly on Silver) and I was pleasantly surprised by the Mattock, the CAR and the GPR.

Falcon was great for melee classes since it reliably staggers. Didn't really like the Revenant other than the fun of holding down a trigger and spraying bullets for a solid minute.

Falcon or Avenger ...for power users. The rest, well I like the Striker a lot, but that's just my opinion. The non power users weapons are actually all URs. Unless you want to go with Geth Particle Rifle with Ammo upgrade, but then you need a bio/tech member to explode the targets after the hits.

The Mattock is great as long as your trigger finger can keep up.

As an alternative I'd say probably either the Revenant or - gasp! An uncommon?! - the Phaeston.

Phaeston X is a reliable workhorse, the ideal intermediate AR between Avenger and Harrier - in my opinion, anyways.

Vindicator is the best if u can headshot, using Mattock your finger cant last long

It's all dependent on class. Gethgineer? GPR with incendiary. Turian ghost? Argus. QME? Vindicator. Turian Sentinel? Revenant. They all have pretty good niches.

That said, if I have to pick one best, most versatile, I'd say the Argus. It *would* be the mattock, but I just can't deal with the click-a-thon. But that's just me, I'm sure there's plenty who can handle it fine.

edit: can't give a good review on CAR- haven't handled it much since I'm still in the process of leveling it.  too hard to compare when I last used it at IV.

I like the Falcon the best, but it obviously isn't your standard Assault Rifle. Of the more conventional options, I like the Vindicator and the Collector AR the most. My hands unfortunately aren't cut out for the Mattock.
