Eww, the Vindicator. Might as well stick with the Argus.

The Revenant and the Phaeston both work like a charm. Haven't used the Mattock since ME2, but I still have fond memories of it.

Phaeston, or Argus.

Mattock is good as well, if you don't mind constantly slamming the trigger button.

I have a special place in my heart for the Revenant. Prior to the typhoon, it was the big'ol bullet spraying go-to option. But, it is hard to argue with the Mattock. The thing produces results

Revenant. Mattock requires too much carpel tunnel syndrome...

I concur.  Though I haven't tried the GPR since it was buffed..

The Mattock is like the Raptor, Predator and Phalanx - really bad guns ergonomically speaking - particularly if you are on a PC like me...

Man, me, too.  Until I got access to the Rev, the Mattock was all that I used (purchased it as an add-on when I got the PS3 version of ME2).

Mattock may be a better gun, but I have so much fun with the revenant. I don't like it because it's the best. I like it because it feels like a firehose of bullets. And yes, there's the typhoon, but I don't like the wind-up.

Collector Rifle is great too, if you can be consistent with headshots.

The Revenant is fun on its own, and it's damn lethal with Marksman/Destroyer mode to tighten up the spread.

Vindicator is better for your fingers, especially if you have something else that need workable fingers after playing video game.

I'd go for Mattock as well, though the semi-auto fire mode keeps making damage to my mousehand in a long term :D

Revenant is usually a great choice, but the Mattock also works well on classes where the Revenant's 1.25 weight is too detrimental to cooldown.

EDIT: Post-buff, on a Geth specced for weapon performance, the GPR might be worth considering too, especially since it's light enough to allow you to bring another gun along as backup.

With a mouse macro or rapid-fire controller the Mattock.
Otherwise the CAR, with it's accuracy it can out DPS the Revenant at anything beyond point blank range.

As far as people complaining about ruined fingers/mice with the Mattock... On the PC you have no excuses, macro's are completely free, Google is your friend. For console users it depends on you, the rapid-fire controllers can be purchased for only $10. Rock or not, your choice.

Using the TGI, I just recently completed the Saber AR Challenge and then moved onto the Mattock since I figured I'd get the least enjoyable rifles out of the way first. Damn, the Mattock rules. Perhaps using the Saber got me accustomed to semi-auto fire, but I was loving it like it was ME2 all over again.

Oh, and Mailak, your "Rock or not, your choice," had me rolling. Nicely worded.

Well? Almost 3 years later has anything changed?

The consensus seemed to be the Mattock, although I now personally think the Argus is the best non UR assault rifle (the best of an underwhelming class)

And LOL at the OP, what a noob!
