Slam/Dominate powers.

 After seeing what is expected of the new characters, I've noticed that these two powers (and defense matrix) are powers that seem unlikely to appear in multiplayer. Is dominate too stong? What about slam and defense matrix? What does the BSN have to say?

I do think it's strange that some of these haven't shown up yet even on the characters to be released. Frankly I would like to have them, but I'm thinking the 27th when they do Omega they may also show stuff for another DLC and characters, maybe. I would like to see an avatar (like EDI) as a playable character, and maybe some Protheans like a Prothean Adept with Dark Channel, Dominate, and Slam. Just a thought, but would like to see them.

Dominate is basically sabotage without backfire awesome. Slam is totally lame and doesn't affect shielded targets an is generally, useless.

Have Slam gain effectiveness on shielded/Barriers with Evo 6 just like Lash. Easy enough to implement.

Dominate is plausible. Lack of backfire makes up for it's ability to control 3/4 of the factions. Slam could be reworked (like Singularity) so that it has an evolution to affect shielded targets and does instant damage to armor instead of ragdolling them. Maybe give it enough force to stagger as well.

Defense matrix is completely viable. No idea why it hasn't been included yet. I'm still expecting to see it in the future, most likely on a Geth character.

Slam would be a horrible MP power. Dominate might be a bit OP, but it also doesn't do any damage, does it?

The Dev's have pretty much said that slam won't be on here because it wouldn't be effective in it's current form.

Slam: (iirc) won't be added because of a coding/flight/height issue according to some dev. (I could be misremembering though, but unlikely).

Dominate: either OP or UP. You hack an organic (3/4 enemies) and they unleash hell on their team, or at least stand there while you blow their heads off, or it is a successful stun ability as it wears off before they do anything useful. Balancing this would be a nightmare in and of itself.

Defensive matrix: this is the only one that might make it in game someday. The ability to recharge shields on a 2s cooldown, or have barrier level dr and resistances was wildly OP. But the addition of stim packs and shield boost might change that.

Dominate has a DOT effect, as well as a nice debuff from all sources compared to the tech only sources that sabotage gives.

Slam is useless. Dominate and Defense Matrix, however, are two powers that I want to see.

Dominate is amazing and it has a DOT and debuff effect too. Would love to see it soon.

Yeah, a more useless pull. A dev said it, they will have to change it dramatically. I don't want it, I don't want pull either but I have to deal with that.

Pull isn't useless, just a lot of players never even attempted to efficiently use it, including you apparently.

I don't see why slam would have coding issues, it's perfectly fine when used as Shep on the MP maps in the campaign.

So you want Slam, which is essentially a less effective version of Throw, or Pull?

Defense matrix I don't ever see coming to MP unless it has a pretty hefty CD since it's pretty much on demand shields.

One thing we can agree on, is that we want new powers. Copy and pasting existing abilities no longer make kits feel unique and most just don't fit where they are placed.

You mean like Throw? :whistle:

It's been a long time since I played SP, but I do recall that Slam does detonate primed targets regardless the color of the bar. It's also insta-cast so, unlike Throw, it cannot be dodged and it has the same super fast cooldown. Plus is looks awesome.

I put 3 points into pull, which is more than enough to get max use ut of it. It's pretty much a way to get rid of guardian shields and the occasional stagger. It is useless. Slam is even more useless so I don't see why you would want that in MP.

I was actually speechless when I saw that the asari infiltrator won't have dominate, this power fits her so perfectly that it's an crime not to have it. And defensive matrix would fit the geth soldier much better then fortification. Not sure about slam.

Got a point there. The new power combinations are mildly interesting, but I'd much rather prefer new kits have a unique model and at least one power unique to them in the future.

Different, not less effective. So yes, I'd rather have some diversity than the same old same old. The lot of you can't use them, fine, but don't spread misinformation.

It is less effective since anything you detonate/prime with slam makes a biotic explosion way up in the sky, whereas even pull makes a biotic explosion that might affect other enemies. Stop being dellusional.
