Using all of your team, assigning roles, fighting a Reaper, dramatic closing sequence with possible losses and ultimately success, with a feeling of being the hero...

There were considerable inconsistencies, but at least you weren't left feeling like crap.

It left you with a good memory and I don't remember anyone petitioning to change it.

If anything, people wanted more of it.

hell I liked even die hard scenario...

Gives a sense of closure? Huh, last time I checked, I didn't even knew if I survived or not.

What's the point of the breath scene if you are dead?

"Your character lives."   Umm, thanks, but to me a 10 seconds long ****ty video of  Shepard taking a breath doesn't exactly feel like closure.

ME2:

- unexpected twist ending that shatters our concept of the plot
- final decision has few consequences
- two possible endings, one of which is actually a game over
- ends with a blatant sequel hook
- contains a boring boss fight
- no implications of the ending are explained or shown
- no memorable dialogue
- a lot of fans didn't like it

ME3:

- unexpected twist ending that shatters our concept of the plot
- final decision has major consequences
- four possible endings, one of which is actually a game over
- gives a sense of closure
- no boss fight
- various implications of the ending are shown
- some of the best dialogue and voice acting in the game
- a lot of fans don't like it

The final choice in ME3 has absolutely no consequences whatsoever beyond some lame sliders, since the trilogy ends after that choice is made, so it's more just for show than anything. If we're talking the original ending, then that statement is just flat out wrong as well. BioWare is going to have to make a canon if they're going to continue Mass Effect within the same universe and if the future game has some connection to the Reapers and the Crucible.

The dialogues in ME3's ending were easily the worst in the whole trilogy too, since the Catalyst's voice is just a mix of three voices, two of which are based on Shepard's voice actors. No offense to Buzz at the end and the Stargazers, but it's really difficult for me to imagine a normal human being talking like that.

The speeches? I've heard better.

Just because it's a twist doesn't mean it's a good one. I've seen plenty of writers and other artists say that introducing a new character with little to no foreshadowing at the last fifteen minutes to throw in a plot twist instead of starting to wrap up is just bad for the pace and integrity of the story.

Closure? Yeah. Sure. It only raises more questions than it answers, like what the Reapers were hoping to accomplish with this retarded act of mass genocide, since they sure as hell aren't saving any lives or why the Catalyst didn't help Sovereign.

I also remember one very distinct line from ME2's ending, which I thought was very fitting.

And really, ME3's ending was filled to the brim with stupidity, so there are barely any lines worth remembering.

Btw. it's not Mass Effect 2's fault that the ending had no consequences, it was supposed to affect ME3 greatly.
Same with Mass Effect 1, do you think it was bad because we didn't see the difference in saving/killing the council or choosing Udina/Anderson?

Choices don't just affect the ending, they affect the whole game. If people didn't notice that they were half asleep, or they skipped over the cutscenes and half the game's content.

As for closure, if people talked to some of your former squadmates, they tell you what they are going to do once the war is over. Doesn't happen during the ending itself but before you go back to Earth.

This article also debunks the myth of "lack of closure". Scroll down to the middle of the page.
