ME2:
- unexpected twist ending that shatters our concept of the plot
- final decision has few consequences
- two possible endings, one of which is actually a game over
- ends with a blatant sequel hook
- contains a boring boss fight
- no implications of the ending are explained or shown
- no memorable dialogue
- a lot of fans didn't like it
ME3:
- unexpected twist ending that shatters our concept of the plot
- final decision has major consequences
- four possible endings, one of which is actually a game over
- gives a sense of closure
- no boss fight
- various implications of the ending are shown
- some of the best dialogue and voice acting in the game
- a lot of fans don't like it
The final choice in ME3 has absolutely no consequences whatsoever beyond some lame sliders, since the trilogy ends after that choice is made, so it's more just for show than anything. If we're talking the original ending, then that statement is just flat out wrong as well. BioWare is going to have to make a canon if they're going to continue Mass Effect within the same universe and if the future game has some connection to the Reapers and the Crucible.
The dialogues in ME3's ending were easily
the worst in the whole trilogy too, since the Catalyst's voice is just a mix of three voices, two of which are based on Shepard's voice actors. No offense to Buzz at the end and the Stargazers, but it's really difficult for me to imagine a normal human being talking like that.
The speeches?
I've heard better.Just because it's a twist doesn't mean it's a good one. I've seen plenty of writers and other artists say that introducing a new character with little to no foreshadowing at the last fifteen minutes to throw in a plot twist instead of starting to wrap up is just bad for the pace and integrity of the story.
Closure? Yeah. Sure. It only raises more questions than it answers, like what the Reapers were hoping to accomplish with this retarded act of mass genocide, since they sure as hell aren't saving any lives or why the Catalyst didn't help Sovereign.
I also remember one very distinct line from ME2's ending, which I thought was very fitting.

And really, ME3's ending was filled to the brim with stupidity, so there are barely any lines worth remembering.
