In terms of story I wasn't impressed by the ME2 ending. I feel like losing when anyone on the team dies. Not that it happens in my playthroughs, though. That just makes it very linear, despite all the effort of BW to allow the squad mates to die. That effort could have been put into a proper story. Collectors were a replacement for the problem of overpowered reapers and none of that had actual impact on ME3. ME2's end game was fun to play, though. ME3's ending didn't make any sense, nor was it fun to play.

Both ME2 and ME3 had bad endings imo, only ME had a good ending in the series.

Agreed.

ME2 Coherent story, best endgame ever, perfectly reflects on yuor qualities as squadleader
ME3 nonsense plotwist, generic endgame minus bossfight, your squadmates desert you no matter what.

Its all a matter of context.

ME2 a coherent story? Sure....maybe. Best Endgame ever???! Baaaaahahahahaha. Don't get me wrong, I like assigning my squad to complete certain tasks throughout the Suicide Mission, but if anything its endgame was corny and generic as hell.

Actually ME3's plotwist makes sense. And the way it ends, is anything but generic.

You're right about one thing though: It's all a matter of context.

Me personally, it's not much of a plot twist when it uses plot holes to twist the story.
Yes like no other game, cartoon or show and movie ended in a similar fashion.

The first response was entirely satirical, the second was a genuine question.

But if you feel you're being picked out for some reason, time to take a step back and realize no one knows or cares who you are.

Maybe I´m too cynic, but screwing up a story with a shocking swerve in the last moment  trying to make it memorable (and succeeding in the bad way) it´s actually quite generic.

Hmmm. Are we talking about pre-EC or post-EC endings? Because it actually got worse with the pre-EC endings the more I thought about them.
And which 'plot twist' in ME2 are we talking about anyway? Maybe it's because ME2 was the first ME I played, but I didn't get any 'plot twist' feeling at any point in the game (except for the part where the Collectors vessel warps to the Normandy. That was awesome.).

In the Vanilla edition of ME3, there was one ending. Technically three depending on the type of light show you wanted.

The second part in a trilogy rarely has an actual ending, which sucks.

The ME3 lines are only memorable because they are ridiculous, but it's space opera so everything is ridiculous. Jack and Aria come to mind when I think about that.

not playing ME1....and playing ME2 first, is the reason you didn't get any "plot twist feeling"....

You know....that whole part with the Human Reaper Fetus Thing. That's the twist lol.

ME2:

- unexpected twist ending that shatters our concept of the plot
- final decision has few consequences
- two possible endings, one of which is actually a game over
- ends with a blatant sequel hook
- contains a boring boss fight
- no implications of the ending are explained or shown
- no memorable dialogue
- a lot of fans didn't like it

ME3:

- unexpected twist ending that shatters our concept of the plot
- final decision has major consequences
- four possible endings, one of which is actually a game over
- gives a sense of closure

I completely disagree with your assessment of ME2's ending.  ME2 had one of the best endings I ever got to play.  First the entire game Habinger goes on and on about how the reapers are their salvation and their ascension was at hand I knew something was up with that kind of dialogue, also he kept wanting Sheoards body so the reaper baby was not an unexpected plot twist it was one built up to gradually until the final reveal which culminated in an awesome battle and ended with epic music and the shepard strut through the Normandy where the entire crew was all like HELL YEAH.  the emotion of the ending was epic and completely satisfactory.  You beat ME2 and you feel like ELVIS.  You feel like JESUS, You feel like Elvis and Jesus got married and made holy rock and roll babies.  We always KNEW ME2 would end on a cliff hanger it was the ME version of Empire.

ME3 however was completely different a new character at the end of the game negates all your efforts and hard work shts on precedent (epic ending win against impossible odds ME1 and ME2) and lets you choose 3 flavors of you lose suck it btch.

The emotions were shock, fury, betrayal, depression, abandonment. 0 satisfaction of any kind even post EC. No sense of closure at all- in fact the ending leaves a sense of a chest cavity opened up for open heart surgery and then the surgeon just walks away leaving all the insides exposed and oozing.  ME3 is an open wound of disappointment, disjointed narrative, and roughshod railroading of Biowares Shepard character raping MY shepard and then shoehorning the end of another videogame onto the end of theirs and then calling it artistic integrity.

ME2 was a beutiful and awesome ending.  ME3 was a wet fart.

<_< I don't think there's a facepalm smiley. That sentence bugged the hell out of me. Another is "I'm a mean ****". It continues on to something that sounded out of place after that so I kind of forgot it.

mass effect 1 and 2 end made me want to see how it would all come together in mass effect 3 little did I know it would be ems bull with some star child bull that would come in the very last moments of the game to undo everything I did in the other 2 games

mass effect 3 is the best example of bad writing in fact it should be taught in school how not to end a story so that no other people will end with such crap ever again
