My case is a little weird and none of the fixes I've tried have wroked so I decided to make a new post.
I got the special steam collector's edition for DA:O and bought Awakening via the regular disc download. I've never had a problem running the game this way as steam seems to automatically consider them the same game.
The patch I have is where the problem starts, though I technically have 1.05. From what I've read in order to get Awakening to properly use 1.04 you have to download the patch seperatly after you have downloaded Awakening. I can't seem to get it to do this. I have steam set to auto-update and I only recently (as in a week ago) re-doawnloaded Awakening so I know the patch was downloaded first.
Not only that but when I start Awakening I don't get Zevran's letter, even when I use the epilouge save to import where I know the romance is active. So I also know that the patch is not working correctly because this is supposed to be one of the fixes.
The mods I have are for the Elven Boots, showing console text and the ability to add weapons and armor via said console. link link link
Processor is AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.00 GHz
6.00 GB of RAM
Sound card is built into the motherboard so nothing special.
