It would be nice to have a central location to summarize what kind of governments currently exist in Thedas at the beginning of DA3. From DAO I remember not everything is a monarchy, there is a huge difference between human vs. elf government, Dwarves have provings and "elections" to decide things, but my memory is a bit foggy. And I am not sure if any changes have taken place outside of Kirkwall during DA2. Is there any specific link in the DA Wiki to summarize this, or is this very topic covered in the new book: Dragon Age: The World of Thedas Volume 1?

Elfs don't have a government. The dalish are divided in clans, and the city elves don't have a political system.
Orzammar is a monarchy, but the king is chosen by the heads of the noble houses. It's similar to Ferelden's system, where the king is chosen by the Landsmeet.
The only place I don't remember which system has is Rivain, but I think it's a monarchy too. Nevarra, Orlais, Ferelden, Antiva are monarchies. The city states in the Free Marches are governed by a ruler (viscount, prince, etc.). The Tevinter Imperium is a magocracy, with a mage "king" (the archon) who rule over. As far as I know the Qunari are the only one which don't have a king or something similar (maybe Rivain, but I don't remember).

Well, in Ferelden the king is only chosen by the Landsmeet when there is no established heir, I think. Orzammar is pretty unique.hhh89 wrote...
