"Spray and Pray"
I am frequently doing this while using many of the submachine guns... especially without any amps on them =P

On a more serious note:
"Trench Warfare/Trench Fighter"
Submachine guns started development/being used for trench warfare in WWI/II.

They are now commonly used in more.... cramped, urban settings, since they don't technically have the same firepower as assault rifles. Something along those lines may make more sense...

"CQC Specialist" maybe?

Seriously stop with the spray n pray crap, this isn't CoD or BF. You actually have to aim in this game.

who the hell sprays and prays with anything in this game, especially with 2 of the smgs being semi-automatic, one being specialised for headshots and the UR one with which you must be careful about the ammo so it doesn't overheat?

I like "supressor", but I don't think I understand it. Could somebody explain? I'm not extremely familiar with weapons and military related slang (in english, anyway).

...the Revenant doesn't leave you much choice. :D

But yeah, I wouldn't say recoil is the SMG's defining characteristic.

But seriously, I've heard "Bullet Hose" thrown around and thought that had a nice ring to it.

Bullet Hose doesn't fit with any of the other banner names. All the other banner titles are personal titles, "bullet hose" is not something you'd call a person.

Good point.

What about "Bullet Sprayer"?

Or "Trench Sweeper"? Although that is going really old school and ME3 MP isn't really fought in trenches, but it's one of the original real-world SMG nicknames.

it would impy that SMGs in this game (or anything) provides suppressive fire.

I'd add a "The Specialist" to the pot, because I frequently feel like a very skilled operative when using SMGs, perhaps because reload animation is usually awesome. Save for CSMG of course.

And it was a good movie, although Jean Reno didn't use a submachine gun in it.

Probably be better to go with something like "Typist" or "Typewriter Enthusiast."  "Chicago Typewriter" refers to the weapon itself.
