not sure if I should put this on this section or on DAO..

anyway I played the whole DAO + DLCs  again..
because my old saves were gone..
and becuase I'm thinking of buying DA2 and import the save to it

then I come across the import save bug on saving Vigil's Keep or Amaranthine..
apparently, if you choose to save Amaranthine, Vigil's Keep is considered destroy even with full upgrades
and the companions who left in the Keep are considered dead in DA2?
even though DAA epilogue has good endings to my "left" companions like Oghren being a hero..

after reading more, I found out the developers didn't and won't fix this problem
and gonna treat DAO epilogue as rumours.. not real facts import into the next game (DA2 or DA3)
The feeling of backstabing just poped in my head..
I mean...Oghren being a hero after defended the Keep becomes a rumour? wat....
so anything I did in previous game won't count if the developer choose not to? (like BG1-->BG2)

other than that,
Is Oghren considered dead in DA2 if you left him in Vigil Keep and saved the city?
(I know he is mentioned in DA2, just cannot find out how much)
and am I able to do both conspirators and secret rendezvous quest or need to use debug if I import the save?
(for me save the city with full upgraded Keep, left Oghren, Anders and Justice)

Thanks

PS. these, you might consider, "little" problems actually bother me..
the decision whether I should or shouldn't buy DA2 and maybe DA3...

The only import bug with the Vigil's Keep/Amaranthine decision concerned Nathaniel. If you left Nathaniel behind, you couldn't get his quest in Act 3, but it wasn't because he died; it was simply a programming error. Oghren survived defending a fully-upgraded keep, though Oghren was never mentioned in DA2.

OP - You are correct, sadly. If you save Amaranthine, Awakenings plot flags does consider those left behind in the Keep as dead, whether or not you upgraded the Keep and got the "They survived after all" epilogues.

However, on the plus side, the only characters who appear in DA2 are Anders and Justice (whose appearance is mandatory - they will show up no matter what happened to them in Awakenings) and Nathaniel - if he survived Awakenings.

Basically, I'm guessing that they won't use Awakenings characters in later titles, so it's safe to assume the epilogue slides about the Keep characters actually surviving were indeed true after all - apart from Nathaniel, that is. You really do have to make sure he survives.

PS, they really bother me too. :-)

Thanks for the answer,
I find this really disturbing...I bought Nathaniel with me in the end of Awakening..
so I guess he will show up (left anders, justice and Oghren in the keep)
Guess just Oghren is the guy I'm concerned about...
I shouldn't left the drunken dwarf in the keep just because he has better ending slide otherwise..

o well..just hope they can "fix" or make the upgraded Vigil keep & companions epilogues count in inquisition

No, it's as thats1evildude said.

I imported a save where Amaranthine was saved and Anders, Sigrun and Oghren were left to defend a fully-upgraded Keep. Now, if Anders had died during the siege, I would have gotten this dialogue when meeting Nathaniel in Act 3:

Nathaniel: Anders!
Anders: Making friends as usual, it seems.
Nathaniel: You died! I saw the body! An arrow in the neck!
Anders: Perfect! If you come across any templars or Grey Wardens who want me back, tell them exactly that.

There's some additional dialogue about how the corpse was badly burned beyond recognition, yadda yadda yadda.

But I DID NOT get that dialogue. Nathaniel made no mention of Anders' death. Instead, I got this scene:

Nathaniel: Anders!
Anders: Making friends as always, it seems.
Nathaniel: (bemused) There's no escaping you, it seems.
Anders: I'm special that way.

Aside from Sigrun, the defenders of Vigil's Keep did not die if the keep was fully upgraded. There's just a bug that prevents Nathaniel's Act 3 quest from starting if he wasn't in the Warden's party at the end of Awakening. Oghren is fine.

ah rite, I see, so the dialogue about Ander's fake death won't pop up with full upgrades ending.
,so Oghren should be fine then..in my import save.

that's what I expect about my save,
saving Amaranthine with fully upgraded Keep,
it was destroyed but defenders actually held on and survived.

hmm..guess the bug isn't as serious as it seems on the surface than I expected.
Thanks again.

but still...the decisions I made in the game might become rumous in the next game is somewhat frustrating..:/

Oghren should be fine, but don't expect too much. There are nearly zero Oghren references in DA2 as sad as it is.
The ones are showing up are Leliana, Alistair, Anders, Justice, Nathaniel, and that's about it, no Shale or Sten or Sigrun or whatever.

Although a true RPG player does now that Oghren is save, regardless of the save import, so he or she would be satisfied. :)
