All the "Obama and Romney are the same" talks are BS.
Even if you think the economic outcomes of having a Democratic president or a Republican one are the same, (I do not think they are completely the same, but let's say they are,) the SOCIAL ISSUES presented by the two parties are definitively different.
Let's say it does not make any different to the economy whether Obama or Romney wins, it will make a different in the social issues of:
Abortion right: if you believe getting pregnant is a "gift from god", and women can only get pregnant from "legitimate rape" and their bodies would "shut down" and prevent pregnancy from "illegitmate rape", then go ahead and vote Republicans.
Gay marriage: Christians do NOT have a monopoly on marriage. The Judea-Christian faith did NOT invent marriage. Chinese and Indian civilizations had the marriage institution even before the Judea-Christan faith were created, so marriage has NOTHING to do with God.
Immigration: Deporting people who were brought into the country as children -- and therefore did NOT commit any crime as they were just children -- and grew up here is just cruel and inhumane.
The rise of Christian fundamentalism in America, which is associated with the Republican party.
Wars in the Middle East: Republicans LOVE wars and LOVE killing the Muslims. Do you know what really got America into the economic hole? It's the ****ing endless wars.
Income Inequality: Republicans follow the Cult of Ayn Rand and believe income inequality is a good thing, that wealthy people should lead and poor people should just shut up and roll over. Ron Paul is along this line of thinking; he differs from other Republicans because he does not like wars, but he is still a follower of the Ayn Rand cult.
So, even if you think the economic outcomes of Obama or Romney winning are the same, the social outcomes are definitely NOT the same.
You are so ****ed up...

It's funny because the man who was supposed to fix all of the problems Bush "caused" has not only not fixed them, but made them even worse. Now he will remain in office and the situation will continue to deteriorate as it has for many years now, regardless of what tool they put in the White House.
But go ahead and keep bellyaching about important matters such as... religion and marriage. Those definitely take precedence over the economy collapsing and the jobs market drying up.

@Volus, How so? Do you think that those things being put into practice would be a good thing?
Those things are fabricated straw man arguments. They are at best a ruthlessly warped depiction of reality.

Sadly that would mean the fiscal responsibility of Far Right Republicans and the liberties of far Left Democrats, none of which will ever actually exist in the same package. Math does not lie, taking all the money of every Rich person in the country would not fix the deficit, spending must come down. Republicans might be able to get this message across if they stopped trying to "defend marriage" and engaging in any debate about female reproduction. Democrats shouldn't be there either, I shouldn't have to pay for someone else's contraception or abortions, but neither should I be telling them they can't do it on their own dime.
The sad truth is I would have been unhappy with either, but now I'm unhappy with just Obama, and his ridiculous aversion to not spending money he does not have.

It's all incredibly disturbing and depressing. I haven't seen a candidate I truly support in a very long time. At least I can say I have cast a vote against Obama both times, so none of his crap is on my conscience.

Personally I will NEVER vote for a Republican until the party pulls their heads out of the Christian fundamentalism and Ayn Rand Cult's arse; and I'm often amazed that almost half the American populations would support a Chrstiain fundamentalist party.

I hear that, on both counts. I don't think I've ever voted for someone I considered to be someone I wanted, always the lesser of two evils. This one was no different, except that I think Obama is going to cause serious damage this time when he doesn't have to face voters again in four years.

@Volus, Yeah, but I remember specificly some of those statements about rape and abortion were true and were made by two politicians who actually sit on the house science comittee, so in my opinion if the American people are stupid enough to let those type of people into a place of influemce like that they deserve to crash and burn.

That's false, Erik. Akin and Mourdock are the two men you're thinking of, and both were candidates. Neither has ever served in Congress.
I'm ****ing through with the SoCons. Who the hell made them the guardians of the "True Conservatives" mantle? Their idiocy has now resulted in four blown Senate races in two years, against incumbents or candidates who were begging to be destroyed.
