No. I am a Human, so I don't have the desire to play as anything else.

"I don't play as other races so I don't want the option". Got to love that logic.

I'd like to see these people if the protagonist was going to be only an Elf or a Dwarf.Image IPB

Then I wouldn't buy the game.

Thank you for proving the point....

The decision has been made already and there´s another thread about the same topic.

Ultimatedly it´s Bioware game and if they made that way, there´s not much we can do. On the other hand, what would be REALLY bad is if all companions were humans too (I´d definitedly not buy the game if that was the case).

One of the advantages of having a more narrow choice of protagonists is that it frees the writers of doing a lot of race specific lines. Even if being a dwarf or elf didn´t make a huge difference gameplay-wise, all that dialogue and extra lines was a strain that could be used elsewhere in the game. So I hope that by sacrificing race choice, we´ll see a plus elsewhere.

The only thing that makes Dwarfs and Elfs not "human" is their body type and ears. You really feel like you can't relate to them because you don't look the same as them?

Looking back at Dragon Age: Origins playing a elf or dwarf didn't add a lot to the game for me, besides having a different starting area and a few conversation modifications I don't think there was any difference, it was like playing a magic user in Dragon Age 2, walking around town as a magic user and using my abilities freely and nobody even bats an eye.

I used to. I'm one of the people who often tends to avoid playing Human. But in Dragon Age.. Human is the only race I can bother with.

Elf? Nah(Especially with they way they looked in DA2)
Dwarf? You'd have to pay me.
Qunari? Too big, too buff. Plus I always play Mage.

The Grey skin, and Horns are awesome though.

if most of people really prefer to play only human, then there would be other races)))

All the games you point out have silent protagonists and in such games it's quite easy to add more races.
Also choice is good to have, it's not a bad thing to allow the players to choose a race. I never said that.

Humans is just the safe card to play. People don't mind playing as a human, they might prefer to play as an elf or a dwarf. But just as some people like to play a certain race other people wouldn't dream about playing that race.
And thus having a dwarf or elf protagonist would cripple sales.

wheren't the sales crippled already in DA2 without the races? I know (hey I played DA2, after all) the missing races wheren't the only problem in DA2 (I still have to find something really valutable in DA2. Varric was great, but he can save the game only so much) but I think that cut a big piece of people.

For some people a GDR is a way out of every day life, and playng as a Dwarf, Elf or Kossith(my hope for the future) help get out of the monotony of real life. Choosing a different rece than Human help to estraneate from him/herself, like wearing different clother. is refreshing.

They don't look like humans and they don't behave like ones. Also they got this "pre-set" quirks, humans are more varied, thats why I like them.

It would be interesting to play as another race in a different setting. Race should be meaningful in a world as divisive as Thedas. Perhaps the story of a Dalish hunter traveling the wilds with his tribe. Maybe the tales of a famous Dwarven explorer-noble's journey to recapture a great Thaig, subsequently establishing a new royal house?

Dragon Age rocks!!!!!

I would have liked the option to play as an elf or dwarf, but I'm not so upset about it anymore. I would like the option to at least have had an elven parent though.

Yeah. He rather obviously didn't say that. If you're going to mischaracterize someone, try a quote longer than a sentence.

80% of DA:O players only picked human.
