People want it, and it would be great to have a prologue that lets you choose the two previous games' decisions without a save file. I played DA and DA2 on Xbox 360, but I'm looking to play this one on PC. That'd be key for me.

Mass Effect 2 has this as a DLC and included with the PS3 version, and it was a hit.

Also a related question, what were the default decisions in DA2 if you didn't have a save? For me Leliana being the Warden's romance and Alistair being the king are key ones I'd want in DA3, though those might be the default anyway. I'd also want the Champ of Kirkwall and Isabela to be cruising on a pirate ship.

Though, that's kind of another topic, whether DA3 will reflect things like say the Champion and Isabela being a couple.

Anyways, gotta have that decision maker thingy.

While no real "save maker", DAII had 3 variants to chose from: A human noble, a female dalish and a mean dwarven noble. Look at this for details on the "default" decisions. I could imagine DA:I will keep them.
With the decisions in past games not being part of our characters story, I don't think a real "save maker" is necessary. Would be nice for people changing platforms, but meaningless for everyone else.

Supposedly, there are more than a few mangled flags in our saved games. I don't want to see an in game option that only lets us choose five or six settings from the two games, the DLC, and the expansion pack. I'd like a stand alone program that "shampoos" the save game, letting us double check our choices, running some kind of checking against them to ensure there's no conflicts, and then dumping that out to a new file that DA3 will read happily. The more choices that come over and that matter, the better.

I would like a save maker.
Strangely, the pre-set Dwarf Noble was nearly identical to how I played him.

There are so many minor things that get imported that it would be so much better to allow each player to "create" their own settings. Also considering that this will be the third game it would be nice to have if we want to try out the results of some other story and not have to spend 100+ hours playing through DAO & DA2 again.

I'm just thinking that the current selectable backgrounds give us the opportunity to see pretty much everything already. Except for very minor things, which you would only care about if you experienced their prerequisites in older games.
People changing the platform would be the only real beneficiaries of such a system. Though RinpocheSchnozberry raises a good point, it would be useful in case of nonfuntional flags. So it does have it's uses.
I'm not at all opposed to the idea, but I think it's value would be far smaller than for Mass Effect. Making decisions that fit the character you are playing as now is important, otherwise he has troubles becoming your character. Changing the decisions of a character you don't play would be nice I guess, but nothing more.

Awesome!! That is the default I use when I do not use my Origin's save.

I think this option would be incredibly useful for those of us who have multiple play-throughs. I guess if you only have one canon character it would not be of much interest, but I have a multitude of characters all who did different things - some finished the game, some did not.

Having a way to create the background that I would like to see imported into the next game would be a great convenience. I support this option.

I want a save maker that allows new players or the anti-save file transfer people to be able to pick and choose their background for DA III, but that also features an option for those of us who want to transfer our save files to go over our choices and change (retcon) them if we want (well the big decisions at least, I don't want to be working through a list of minor choices from DA:O and DA 2 that didn't really matter and have absolutely no bearing on DA III).

I'd appreciate that "save maker". All my old save files are gone for good and I just can't bring myself to play through all of DAO again...

I'd like a save maker, but ideally, this would also contain a save checker so if I choose to but the game on my XBOX 360 and I import my perfect canon that the decisions imported would be shown and if there was some bug, I could alter the decision to reflect what actually happened in my game and not what the bug is saying happened.

Yes, and option to fix or gloss over bugs would be fantastic!! That's pretty much in line with an earlier comment I made about being able to retcon using a save file transfer editor; one built into the game would be ideal!

I was soooo confused by the title since I thought you meant Maker and not maker. :|

I think KOTOR 2 did something like what you're talking about. The Exile engaged in dialogue with Atton rand and got to select the decisions that "happened" in the previous game, like Revan's gender.

An import comic would be nice. I'm not really keen on importing my old characters but being able to choose some of the big prior decisions would be handy.
