Isabela isn't bad, she's just drawn that way.

My Cousland Warden married Alistair so I'd be thrilled if she showed up in a cameo with him.  My Amell Warden got ditched by Alistair because I saved Loghain's life.  Alistair became king but my Amell ended up alone.  I can see her showing up solo possibly lamenting what could've been.  Since the Warden is mentioned to be MIA at the end of DA2, makes sense for our Warden to show up solo.  Them being with anyone else makes no sense because no one else is mentioned to have gone missing with them and most of the DAO companions are accounted for during DA2.  Not a single one mentions being with the Warden during their cameo so makes no sense for them to vanish with the Warden.  It's not unlikely Warden business resulted in the Warden becoming separated from their love interest over time.  Constant expeditions into the Deep Roads chasing darkspawn isn't very romantic.  The taint, the Calling, and a desire for a life that doesn't have darkspawn in it on a daily basis likely played a role in the two separating over time as well.

Both of my Hawkes ran off.with Anders at the end of DA2.  My second Hawke had a fling with Isabela but ditched her for Anders shortly after.  My first Hawke tried to go for Fenris first before ditching him for Anders, but it didn't work out.  I'd much rather have my Hawke show up with her crazy mage boyfriend than with Isabela.  If she showed up with Isabela (or Fenris or Merrill), I'd be pissed.

It makes more sense to request that Hawke appears with their love interest since Varric mentions at the end of DA2 that they all went their separate ways except for Hawke and their partner.  Since Hawke went MIA and was with their partner at the time, it makes sense the two vanished together.  I can see there being set cameos for each DA2 love interest where Hawke can appear as well if that companion was the one romanced.  If Hawke romanced no one, then they either wouldn't appear at all or perhaps has a solo cameo.

Requesting for Hawke to appear alongside a specific companion completely ignores everyone else's canon.  My canon is different from your canon which is different from the next person's.  You have to remember your canon is no more official than anyone else's (outside of Bioware) so thus making a request that throws everyone else's choices under the bus isn't a fair request to make.  Broaden the request and think of other people rather than being selfish and thinking only of yourself.

If you romanced Isabela in DA2 then she could appear with Hawke or meet up with him sometime during DA3 during a quest she accompanies you with as a temporary companion.

If you didn't romance her then she could just meet up with him and acknowledge their working together just like they might do with other companions.

Seeing as no matter what her fate in DA2 is she seems to escape and survive implying she will have a major role in DA3

Isabela never made it to the Hang Man. Hawke's and Co. was abruptly time jump years later after talking to Varric with Anders's map and 50 golds.

Bah! I hope she shows up wearing even less clothing in DA3! I'm thinking a thong, tassles and nothing on her feet but toe rings!!

Hawke disappeared. Doesn't mean his\\her love interest disappeared with him\\her. Isabella could show up in the process of looking for Hawke.

That said, even without that, it makes perfect sense for her to show up in majority of my playthroughs without Hawke.

Isabela's life doesn't revolve around Hawke. She can travel and have adventures without him or her.

Why? I could bang her and dump her. It's the right thing to do.

(spoilers for DA2)

Considering I let the Qunari take Isabela, I hope I wont see her in DA3 haha.

About the age thing... if Hawke is 25 at the beginning of DA2, s/he is only about 32 at the end of the game.

Age 25 -- Lothering
Age 26 -- A year in Kirkwall
Age 29 -- Three years after the Deep Roads
Age 32 -- Three years after killing the Arishok

So unless Isabela's eight years older than Hawke, she won't be 40.

Though I guess she COULD be eight years older than Hawke.

Feel free to correct my math as it is not exactly my forte!

*ahem*

I think Isabela is more likely to have a cameo than other companions, based strictly on the fact she's been in both games, and the currently ongoing comic series.  But, I have to admit, I don't really want to see her in any large capacity in the new game.  We've established now that each Dragon Age game is going to be a new story with a new protagonist.  Filling the game up with the same people in each story seems counter to that idea.  Cameo's are good, though :)

Some characters are able to die while others seem to survive no matter what you do with them e.g Leliana. For if you killed her she is still in DA2 and had survived. Other characters who can't die are Alistair, Flemeth, Morrigan, Isabela and Varric. There are others but the fact that they can't die gives a hint that they may have a pivotal role in the future.

I suppose when and where they appear will depend on your decisions such as making Alistair king or wheter you romanced them or not. A cameo will suffice for some but for others I want to see in a bigger role not necessarily as a companion but maybe help them with a quest or they help you with a battle.

Morrigan *possibly* dies at the end of Witch Hunt.

Sure, probably not.  But based on what we actually know, it isn't completely out of the question.

Don't really care for her character. I haven't managed to keep her past Act2 yet, but I have a playthrough working on it, and only so I can get the ambrosia My Hawke may turn her in, though, I'm not sure yet, it depends on what he thinks about her getting people killed in Kirkwall over the book.

Actually I don'i want any of the old characters to be party members. Its ok for them to make cameo appearances, but i'd prefer a while new team to work with in DA3.

There are several ways they can bypass that situation with some clever dialog. Maybe she's just taking a trip over the seven seas while Hawk is tending to some unfinished businesses without her? Maybe he is just around the corner but since our character doesn't know about their relationship this never comes up in the conversation? Many ways to avoid unnecessary drama.

Only if Hawke romanced her. If not I want my Inquisitor to have a chance to get under her deck.

I'm a fan of Isabela and I see fans would like her to be in this game at least as a cameo. And while I agree, they may have painted themselves in a corner here. If they aren't going to show Hawke or the Warden in part 3, which has been the pattern. Isabela growing a bit and being with Hawke for me is key. If they just break them up to have her in the game solo a third time, that'd be weak storytelling.

If they don't want to show Hawke, it'll be tough to show Isabela without messing with that. I can understand that Leliana broke up with the Warden for example I guess, but having it happen two games in a row would not be good. And it'd really feel like they aren't letting characters grow or enter real relationships.

This is a bigger topic in general, how to handle the import things well, but just pointing out solo Isabela in part 3 would be bad, in my opinion.

I didnt take my interaction with Leliana as a breakup with the Warden. He is just missing at the moment and she wants to find out why.
As far as Isabela I think the same. She shouldnt be in the game without Hawke. I felt the point of her romance was to have her grow and find something real. IMO she actually fell in love with Hawke. So having her leave him/her seems wrong and woul really hurt that romances replayability.
