Isabela in this game without Hawke would be bad.

Have to admit, it's this kind of thing that makes me wonder whether I should really be coming here to say anything at all. Perhaps I should not. Something to consider, I guess.

Hope not, it was a joke in poor taste since anything we may say (True or not) is simply assumptions right now.
But having people like you around talking to players or fans does put me and many others at ease, it's usually the case of is there somebody listening or even caring about what fans think or not?
Not that I mean to say that everyone has good ideas but the maelstrom of information does open perspective
on what fans value in general and what not to ignore, overlook or overdo (Which is always possible)
Anyway as usual I  can't wait to findout what actions in DA2 have influenced the characters within it, DA3 is looking good each day IMO!

PS: I don't get upset, I get surprised.

I laugh at threads like this, literally.

You guys should know that the Dev's design plots and dialouge to elicit emotional reaction from the players. Happy, Sad, Angry, Frustrated etc. When a large amount of people are pissed about a certain NPC they pat themselves on the back. The only thing that really touches their nerves is when you tell the Lead Designer the game sucks or you tell the Lead writer his plot stinks. Otherwise, the Dev's really dont care about your protagnist (long term) or what you think the NPC's should be doing.

Err, no it depends on the character or story. If they want you to be angry or pissed at a villain or morally questionable character then maybe they pat themselves on the back. If they want to make a character or story sympathetic and the fan ends up hating them then I doubt anyone gets a pat.

@DarkKnightHolmes

So you basically repeated what I said in different words.

This is why Half-Quotes are no good.

Actually, he did.  Due to import bugs, the only time he didn't offer to sleep with Hawke or Isabela is if he romanced the Warden and the Warden died slaying the Archdemon.  Which, yes, was a bug, but it's also a bug that, to my knowledge, was never patched, because the import bugs were considered to be bugs on DA:O's part, not DA2's part.  Hopefully future imports will lack bugs, but regardless, your example doesn't work, because yes, romanced Zevran does sleep with people in DA2.

*hands*

Then, yes. If we used Isabela in a similar capacity as Zevran's cameo in DA2 and if there was an import bug that didn't recognize her romance with the DA2 PC, then by all means she would sleep with someone.

I'm not sure how you would expect the writers to account for that. Don't have bugs? Well, OK then. We'll get right on that.

Take it easy...the writers aren't being blamed.

Your example merely falls flat for some, y'know? You intended for romanced Zevran to not sleep with anyone in DA2, but due to bugs he does, and if the majority of players don't visit forums like this then chances are they don't have the foggiest of the original intent. Those that do...well, as far as I'm aware we got the news and the correct dialogue from a gamer who managed to break into the source code.

But if you're saying the writing team doesn't intend to be in the habit of making romanced LIs sleep around in sequels, that should be sufficient for anyone who's asking.

Let me break it to you now: any character that is now an NPC is definitely no longer under your control. This doesn't mean we intend to have them deliberately running amok and doing things just to upset their former players-- but it does mean you don't get to make decisions for them any longer. It's entirely possible they'll do things you didn't imagine them doing
, and this applies extra when it comes to NPC's which were also NPC's in previous games (such as Leliana and Isabela).

I'm sure someone will take this as confirmation of us setting out to violate everyone's head canon en masse, which is simply not the case... but we are not responsible for your head canon. The story moves on and things change, and if it possibly not matching up with what you have in your head is "weak storytelling" to you, then so be it. That might very well happen.

Duly warned be thee, says I. ;)

YES YES YES, can't wait, the possibilities are endless!!! Assume control @ will gaider.
