Hi guys im planning to make a pure Archer my next playthrough after im done with this one. My first playthrough i was a hybrid warrior/archer and shot 50-70 with my Bow but i think i screwed up all my stats because i was new to the game.

I was wondering if being a warrior archer is better or a Rogue archer? I heard being a Rogue gives you many benefits like being a Ranger, Bard, Duelist, etc. Also i really like crossbows and i would like to use one for my archer but i heard they are really bad and bugged in the current game (im using the PS3 version so there isn't a hotfix). Which weapon would you guys prefer and has anyone been an archer using mainly a crossbow? Also should i pump points into dexterity more or cunning?

Well, right below is a thread entitled "Archery is Aweful" try to ignore all the bad comments (mostly by me) because a lot of people have posted useful things about how to do a build.



I repeat though (so you aren't dissuaded from building the character you want), ignore all my posts and focus on those by others.

Wow, what a great response!  I'm awarding you 5 stars.    And I'm not trying to be snide.  It's just refreshing to have someone come forth like this.

There's a DAO Character Guide (I'll have to find the source again) that gives stats for a Rogue Ranger build.  In the author's opinion, this is the most useful fighter in the game.

I use a couple of mods to help my archers out, since I enjoy archery so much.  In ranged situations, I use Leliana and my main char as archers.  The mods are:
Better Archery
All Aquiver

I also make sure that I have the Melee Archer skill that allows archers to fight better in close-in fighting.
