Significant choices: Bioware rules OK?

"[the game] has always presented a cinematic linear story for players, what we wanted to do was offer much more player choice than ever before. There's branching storylines that we're introducing, which means the choices players make will at times have a significant impact on the narrative.
"Players will have key members of their team that could be in life-or-death situations that they can make a choice on, based on what's going on in the world. And the outcome of the future...is affected by the decisions that you make and the gameplay that you take on."
Mark Darrah giving us an insight into the development direction of DA3? You could be forgiven for thinking so.
It's actually a quote from Mark Lamia, studio head of the developers behind the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series, explaining how criticisms of low player agency will be addressed in the next game in the series.
So after all those criticisms that Bioware were chasing the Call of Duty crowd, time to take an irony pill. Call of Duty is now taking lessons from Bioware.
Where's my hat? I think I might have to eat it.

I'd be happy to see more games go for their own thing. Nothing wrong with CoD being CoD, but other games trying to be it (or some other game so badly) just kills the originality.

Also this is not DA3 related.

It's pretty stupid that every game tries to copy COD... or tried to before.

This topic is about the opposite. CoD's developers want to create a better story, and the things the developed said to improve it resemble Bioware's way to create stories.

This reminds me of the conversations of how Black Ops 2 could win RPG of the Year at the VGAs.
I like the concept. More story deviations could actually help lengthen their pathetically short 10 hour SP campaigns and give them some replayability.

Yeah, and I am saying that's good but I hope they don't do it by copying too much and trying to be something else.

Yes, this is shortly what I tried to say.

Honestly, this just strengthens what Bioware was trying to say: the Call of Duty francise has elements that might make its player base also like RPGs.
Was going to write pretty much this.
