(North American 'Fall', that is - autumn, really, and actually spring for me.)

Chris Priestly mentioned it in an interview with a blog about Mass Effect, of all things.

I wasn't aware that this was confirmed officially before, I had heard Fall 2013 as a rumour but at least we can conclusively say that it's not 2015 or something crazy.

An updated comment:

Fall is a best guess at the moment. The game has been in the works since the end of DA2, and things are going well, but it will take as long as it needs to. Fall next year (sometime between Sept & Dec) is a good guess, but it could be longer if it needs it.

Good find. Bizarre that it would be mentioned so casually, though.

That's a long ways away--at least, seems that way.

Meh, two and a half years, I guess it's fairly normal.

This is the fall of 2012, the fall of 2013 is one year away.

Have not been working on it for a good while already?

I can't really be sure that this hasn't been mentioned offically before this (and I can't be bothered searching), it could be that a Fall 2013 date has been given in the past. Just noticed Chris' answer and thought it was worth posting.

Nobody really knows. I think they said they've been working on it for a while, but they might just be counting the time they spent on cancelled DA2 expansion as well, I believe they said something about putting that in DA3. In which case they haven't really been working on DA3 for that long... Not long enough for a fall '13 release anyway...

Sounds to me like they just didn't want to leave any room for speculation on bow short the development cycle will be. When was DAII released? Two years was way too short before and they're even using a whole new game engine this time. Allow me to formally predict disaster resulting from this release date.

They have been working on "something", I have a feeling the failed DA2 expansion is getting rolled into the game in some form or another.  How long they have been working with the new engine, and on new mechanics, is unknown.

Mass Effect has roughly the same development time between each game and they are pretty well received. I agree that it's gonna take sometimes for them to get used to the new engine and may take longer since they have to develop a lot of new stuffs from scratch.

we were told "late 2013" before, so it's not really new.

EA announced it for late 2013 at roughly the same time Mark Darrah made his his initial post.  It's here:

This has already been confirmed to be the case, they're rolling the story of Exalted March into DA3 in some way (and possibly the setting also, which would be the Free Marches). We don't really have a timeline as to when DA3 actually started production with Frostbite, although it was some time before the end of last year if some of the earliest dev tweets are to be believed.

2013 is next year. That's one year away, not two.

There's always the possibility that they were working on DA3 and the DLCs simultaneously. It doesn't necessarily take the entire team to make DLC.

Two-and-a-half since DA ][ came out.

Ah yes, just like the disaster from almost every Bioware game ever (except DA:O) which have all had a 2 to 2.5 year schedule, right?

And Fall is a best guess at the moment. The game has been in the works since the end of DA2, and things are going well, but it will take as long as it needs to. Fall next year (sometime between Sept & Dec) is a good guess, but it could be longer if it needs it.

Please, take all the time you need. If you need ten more years to make a game in the same level as Origins, than take ten years. The final product is the important part.
